Diego Luna stars as Cassian Andor in the prequel to 2016's Rogue One.
It’s the beginning of the origins of a revolution, and it’s a beautiful story because it reminds us what we are capable of, what we are all capable of. “We’re going to meet him when life is tough, it’s a very dark and interesting life because it’s just a regular guy that suddenly has to become part of something bigger, has to become part of a community that rises. The new trailer for Andor has landed, and it comes bearing gifts—namely, glimpses of all-new characters and an official release date.
Star Wars fans received a major shock on Monday morning when the official trailer for Andor revealed a release date of September 21, not the August 31 date ...
So while we may have to wait a little longer for Andor, Disney+ may try to keep the gaps between Star Wars and Marvel content even shorter going forward. Without a big archive and a constant flow of new releases, it’s difficult to keep subscribers around month to month. But how does all that affect Andor? Well, the Disney+ business model relies on new work releasing every month to keep subscribers from canceling.
Lucasfilm has dropped a revealing new batch of still from Andor, while it's been confirmed that the show's premiere has been delayed by a number of weeks ...
Andor explores a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make. Earlier today, Disney+ released a new trailer for Andor that, quite frankly, makes the show look nothing short of essential viewing. Elsewhere, we see Cassian in an Imperial uniform, Death Troopers, and some intriguing new locations.

It’s the beginning of the origins of a revolution, and it’s a beautiful story because it reminds us what we are capable of, what we are all capable of. “Suddenly I’m a kid on the set, because everything’s real, everything’s there. “We’re going to meet him when life is tough, it’s a very dark and interesting life because it’s just a regular guy that suddenly has to become part of something bigger, has to become part of a community that rises.
Disney has released a new trailer for Star Wars spinoff Andor, which will star Diego Luna and premiere on Disney Plus on September 21st.
The news comes as the pace of Star Wars shows on Disney Plus has been ramping up. Andor was previously pegged for a premiere on August 31st, but the new clip says that it will debut with a “three-episode premiere September 21st.” The show is a prequel to a prequel, taking place before the events of the film Rogue One, which itself was set before the first Star Wars movie. This morning, Disney released a new trailer for Andor, the next big Star Wars series on Disney Plus — and with it comes news that the show has been delayed by nearly a month.
Disney+ "Star Wars" series "Andor" now has a pushed-back release date, moving from August 31 to September 21.
“It’s about him being really revolution-averse, and cynical, and lost, and kind of a mess,” Gilroy said, with the story following Andor into adulthood after the destruction of his world. “Then we see another planet that’s completely taken apart in a colonial kind of way. Diego Luna, as the titular Cassian Andor, dares to steal from the Empire in a tense new trailer with Stellan Skarsgård leading the charge against the regime.

If that’s the case, he could use them to help enemies of Palpatine and the Empire. If so, there’s storytelling potential with his character that could justify his return at some point down the road. it was revealed that at the time of the Clone Wars, Valorum was living in retirement at his estate on Coruscant. What happened to him after that, though, is unclear. It’s worth noting that Finis Valorum didn’t completely disappear after The Phantom Menace. He returned – albeit only briefly – in Star Wars: The Clone Wars when Yoda paid him a visit to discuss what happened to Sifo-Dyas, a Jedi who went missing when Valorum held power.

The Andor series explores a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make. It’s an era filled with danger, deception, and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero. Today, Disney+ released an exciting new trailer and key art for Andor, an original, 12-episode series from Lucasfilm. The series, which takes place prior to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, debuts exclusively on Disney+ on its new date, Wednesday, September 21, with a three-episode premiere.
A new Disney+ trailer for Andor shows an alien character almost identical to the Star Wars sequel trilogy's Maz Kanata. Is it actually her?
Drafting an actress of Lupita Nyong'o's stature for an unannounced cameo seems unwise when Maz lacks the big-name impact of Princess Leia, Darth Vader, or even Grand Moff Tarkin. And while Andor could probably render a CGI Maz without Nyong'o's involvement, such a decision would invite criticism of its own. Star Wars still hasn't offered much regarding Maz Kanata's movements immediately before/during the original trilogy, but implies Maz went into hiding after Order 66 due to her Jedi connections, and remained off the Empire's radar. Underdevelopment of her character is among the most frequent criticisms of Disney's Star Wars trilogy, and Maz Kanata's story undeniably has room to expand via future projects.
Andor, the upcoming Star Wars live-action series on Disney+, won't only bring back Saw Gerrera but also Chancellor Valorum!
Andor has been delayed to Sept. 21, but the wait also means the first three episodes of the series will drop that Wednesday! It seems Luthen is being set up as a previously unknown founder of the Rebel Alliance, and also doesn’t seem afraid to get his own hands dirty by the way he shoots at TIE fighters in one scene. We see them operating on the character played by Alex Lawther (The End of the F***ing World). Since Andor takes place five years before the events of Rogue One, it doesn’t look like the Partisans have yet settled on Jedha to sabotage the Imperial kyber crystal mining operation, which is why their base looks a bit different in this trailer. When it drops on streaming later this fall, Andor is poised to finally deliver the backstory for one of the best Star Wars characters of the Disney era. In the trailer, we watch him not only meeting with Genevieve O’Reilly’s Mon Mothma on Coruscant but also trying to recruit Saw Gerrera and Cassian to his new cause.
Disney is getting slammed by "Star Wars" fans for showing an AK-47 in a trailer for the upcoming series "Andor."
According to Britannica, it is “possibly the most widely used shoulder weapon in the world.” Instead, he used the gun as the basis by which to create the fictional A280 blaster rifle, which was famously featured in the film. While none of those mass shootings were carried out with an AK-47, the alleged perpetrators used similar weapons to slaughter their victims. Hell, the guy looks like he’s wearing a jacket and hoodie. “That design clearly being a prop AK-47 is just lazy. So very tired.”
The latest trailer for Andor, the Rogue One prequel series, has been released. The Disney+ spinoff series will debut September 21 with three new episodes.
“With these three episodes, you get to meet all these new characters, these new planets. Earlier this year, Luna described the series as “the journey of a migrant. That is three weeks later than the previously announced premiere date, August 31, and will now follow the debuts of HBO’s House of the Dragon (August 21) and Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (September 2).
Andor is set to land on Disney+ soon. Here are three reasons why it's going to be the better Star Wars series than Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Unlike Obi-Wan Kenobi, and even the sequel trilogy, this series offers something more than the Skywalkers or the battle between the Jedi and Sith. It takes a perspective that’s relatable, one where the people rebel against a government intent on taking their freedom away, and creates a story around it. With Andor being pushed back to September, the hype and momentum pushing it will only get stronger. If only Star Wars gave two or three more episodes, the series itself will get the opportunity to tell a better story of how Obi-Wan went on from being a jaded Jedi master to the one we all saw in A New Hope. The upcoming series aims to provide a more mature and grittier take, one which will tell the story better. This 12-episode run will shed more light on how Andor became the spy we all saw in Rogue One and how his growth ran parallel to various factions joining together to form the Rebel Alliance. The thing is, the latter has the potential to elevate the franchise to new heights, more than what the venerable Jedi master can ever do.
The series will pick up where 2016's 'Rogue One' left off.
George Lucas always said the rebels were based on groups like the viet cong so maybe its a nod to that?” one wrote. Hell, the guy looks like he’s wearing a jacket and hoodie. “That design clearly being a prop AK-47 is just lazy.
"Star Wars" series "Obi-Wan Kenobi" and "The Mandalorian" used an LED wall called StageCraft to create images in real time on set. "Andor" avoided it.
StageCraft can be a money-saving mechanism, and building practical sets could have inflated "Andor's" production costs. The volume on a set is typically the space where a green screen would be located and images would be created. The tech was used on "Rogue One," however.
It's been confirmed that Andor is the first Star Wars TV series on Disney+ to not make use of The Volume, and we have some fun comments from Head Writer ...
Andor explores a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make. First utilised on the set of The Mandalorian, it allows Lucasfilm to digitally create backgrounds while shooting is taking place. The Star Wars franchise has always pushed the boundaries of technology, but The Volume has been a total game-changer.
The new series stars Diego Luna as Cassian Andor, a thief whose homeworld was destroyed by the Empire and who goes on to be a crucial part in sending the Death ...
We currently only know of three confirmed characters returning from other Star Wars media to appear in the series. After Rogue One saw Cassian Andor meet his end, it's unsurprising that this series is a prequel to that film. Tony Gilroy, the series' creator recently confirmed with Empire that the first season would chart one year in the timeline, while season 2 will chart four years in total, meaning that by the end of the series, the five years between this new series and Rogue One will have passed, and Andor will be off to meet his noble end on Scarif.
The series will now become available to stream on September 21, with a three-episode premiere release. Star Wars Cassian Andor Disney+.
The same month will also mark the streaming premiere of HBO Max’s House of the Dragon. Amazon Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will also debut on September 2. It would be the first time for a Star Wars series to release as a three-episode premiere. Moreover, the show will also be in stiff competition with Disney+’s own She-Hulk, further affecting the series’ popularity. Disney+ probably wants to avoid clashes with these shows and ensure that Andor gets some undivided attention, free from unwanted competition. To make up for the delay, Disney+ will release the show’s first three episodes as a bundle on the same day. Alan Tudyk may appear in the second season of the show.
Star Wars: Andor premiered a new trailer this week, and it answered some questions fans had about the upcoming Disney+ series.
While we will be seeing a darker side of things there were shots such as a look into the Imperial Senate room that shows that perhaps we will be spending time in the political realm of things as well. Lastly, we learned that the Empire in all of their might uses regular old thermos’s for their coffee. The trailer shows us that we the fans will be spending a lot of time in the underworld of the galaxy while covered in dirt and grime.
In choosing not to use StageCraft or The Volume, Star Wars: Andor has broken a major Disney+ filming trend.
While it's true that Star Wars has revolutionized the technical side of the film industry time and again, it's done so in narratives where tech is often perceived as a threat. “In Pitlochry, Scotland, we had to walk for hours up a mountain to set up one shot,” says Luna. “Huge effort. It's faster, cheaper, streamlines production, and in the true Star Wars tradition, is revolutionizing the way films and television are made. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story stunned audiences in 2016 with its gorgeous visuals and varied locations. This is known as The Volume. When A New Hope premiered in 1977, it wasn't just a fun ride but a technological achievement that changed the way movies were made.
In a little over a month, Disney+ is going to release its latest live-action Star Wars adventure, Andor. The highly anticipated series is set to take place ...
The Inverse Analysis — Andor’s latest trailer suggests that it’s going to bring back the gritty visual style that Rogue One established. However, while it remains to be seen just how well Andor actually manages to recapture Rogue One’s scope, the trailer suggests that it’s at least going to make the attempt. However, the prequel remains one of the most visually interesting Star Wars movies to date.
Empire Magazine has released a new still picture from the upcoming Andor series, as well as new interviews with the cast and crew.
He is that guy who will watch a black and white movie, just because it is in black and white. We took a close look at what it presented and tried to elaborate on a few theories about what the show could bring us. In this new image (see above), we see Fiona Shaw’s Maarva interact with Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor, an encounter that was already hinted at by the trailer when we saw Maarva and B2-EMO together.
Tony Gilroy's Rogue One spin-off is a full-on political thriller in the Star Wars galaxy. Read more at Empire.
For Gilroy himself, the series continues in the tradition of the rest of his work. “Tony has written a great, scurrilous [take] on the Trumpian world,” says Fiona Shaw, who plays Maarva in the series. In many ways, it’s not surprising that Tony Gilroy has taken on a Star Wars project of his own with upcoming series Andor – after all, he was majorly involved in Rogue One, the film from which this new adventure originates, and on which he’s credited as a co-writer.
Slated for a generous three-episode premiere on Sept. 21, the highly anticipated Disney Plus original series follows titular thief Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) as ...
We hope so, because we do not want to look like clowns by the end! "From a narrative point of view, it’s really exciting to be able to work on something where you do a Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and then jump a year." As one might expect, this filming schedule naturally led to the second season's structure.
And more importantly, it's where we meet Adria Arjona: Notice that the lighting and aesthetics of all of these scenes match. The set also looks like the one ...
In this new scene, we get a clear shot of his ship, which looks very similar to the prop that was being built in these pictures taken on the second set the show built in the Highlands. Another reason is that Andor was going to open two days before the series premiere of the most expensive show of all time, The Rings of Power, which is inevitably also bringing the most expensive marketing campaign in streaming history. This will allow us to see the entire first arc of the series in full on the first day, and get a sense of what the show is really about. Also, as a member of the Star Wars News Net writing staff, I am contractually obligated to mention that the character in this shot is none other than Benthic, a member of Enfys Nest’s group in Solo: Apparently, both actors share a couple of scenes in the series, or at least that’s what Skarsgård said (he also said that most of his scenes are with Cassian), but I have to wonder what will Gerrera’s role in the series be. If I were a writer on the show, I would definitely push for having an entire episode dedicated to the different factions of the Rebel Alliance argue with one another, like an extended version of the roundtable scene we got in Rogue One. It will never happen, but if it did, it would probably be my favorite episode of the series. The character in that watchtower also doesn’t have the sense of urgency that the other character that sounds the alarm during the day has — the stormtrooper patrol from the scene above could be just to make sure nobody is on the streets after the sunset, which is why Cassian is hiding from them. I guess that in flashbacks he will have longer hair, and then shorter hair in the main timeline of the show. This someone could either be Luthen Rael, or it could be someone that Rael meets during the series and that points him to Cassian, as we learn in the trailer that it is indeed Luthen who signs him up for the Rebellion. In this new trailer, we see Skarsgård with two different hairstyles, which could hint at two different timelines. We also know that the crew spent a lot of time shooting in a gigantic set in Buckinghamshire, which looks like the village in this scene. Here’s my guess, based on what we’ve seen in the trailer and what we know from the show (keep in mind, this is pure speculation and it will probably be shut down in the first few minutes of the show, probably for a better storyline). The set also looks like the one where we first see Cassian in the Celebration teaser, but there, the lighting is different.
Like that film, Gilroy was not initially the man in charge of Andor. Stephen Schiff was Andor's original showrunner upon its reveal in 2018. Gilroy joined the ...
Andor is seemingly taking the best of both, and while I hate to get overly optimistic or set unrealistic expectations without having even seen a single episode, looks destined to outshine them both, too. The scope of the series is massive. Yes, practical sets and impressive visual effects help, but they only act as supporting elements to the story that sits beneath them. It is even more relevant to the people behind the scenes. Like that film, Gilroy was not initially the man in charge of Andor. Stephen Schiff was Andor’s original showrunner upon its reveal in 2018. The latest trailer for Andor has come our way, delivering high-stakes drama, surprise cameos, and tense politics, all as a preview of what it takes to spark a rebellion.
The Empire is in expansion mode. We already saw hints of this in the first teaser, with the opening drums, but the threat seems bigger than ever when the Star ...

They might even be wary of other each other and only learn of their true motives and team up later in the season. There is also the possibility that even though they are both working towards a Rebel Alliance, they never actively work together or trust each other. With Cassian and Mon Mothma having parallel storylines and being separate for most of the season, it seems that Luthen Rael will be the connective tissue between their stories. This could mean that Luthen Rael has felt like he’s been hiding behind his comfortable life on Coruscant and that while that façade may be slipping away, it is okay as he is embracing his true self. Much like Mon Mothma, he appears to be playing a double life. This trailer shows him in these environments as he not only recruits Cassian, but also Saw Gerrera and his Partisans.
