And the gift of this particular job is that all of us were never asleep at the wheel. We always realized what a special, special project we were a part of, and it allowed us to be present the entire time. This Is Us Season 6 focused on Rebecca preparing herself and her family for her inevitable decline. And after they finished filming the This Is Us series finale, Mandy Moore shared her thoughts on the show’s legacy. As is always the case with This Is Us, the final episodes were beyond emotional but rewarding, thanks to Mandy Moore and the rest of the cast and crew. For the second half of the show’s run, she carried This Is Us on her shoulders as Rebecca dealt with an Alzheimer’s diagnosis.

SU2C, a division of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, was established in 2008 by media and entertainment leaders who utilize these communities’ resources to engage the public in supporting a new, collaborative model of cancer research, to increase awareness about cancer prevention, and to highlight progress being made in the fight against the disease. “I have supported Stand Up To Cancer since its inception and it has been truly amazing to see scientists, patients, actors, musicians and athletes all come together for one common cause — the fight against cancer,” said Mandy Moore. “To do this in partnership with them and American Airlines, a company so close to my heart, is truly a full circle moment. By galvanizing the entertainment community, SU2C creates awareness and educates the public on cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment and raises funds to support these efforts. I had to advocate for myself and draw some boundaries for my health and for the health of my baby. We played clubs and theaters, and I was able to feel that connection with people, especially when revisiting songs from my past that I think, for a long time, carried around a lot of shame about. I don’t quite know what that is, but it could be a series, it could be a limited series, it could be a movie, I don’t know yet. It was the time of my life and everything I hoped it would be, but it was impossible at this juncture of being pregnant and with a toddler. It was a tough secret to keep being the Joni superfan that I am. I feel like I know it when I see it in the same way that I did on that show. When you’re filming, do you get a chance to speak to any of the participants and hear their personal stories? You can’t escape the reality of the message that you’re pushing, and it becomes very, very powerful. I’ve always been really proud to support their efforts and to try to do whatever I can using my little platform to raise awareness for the incredible work that is being done by all of their researchers. My brothers for sure will try to use that status, but I long had to abandon that when I was a kid. The fact that they are continuing their commitment with Stand Up to Cancer and trying to help everybody get closer to the goal of making those diagnosed with cancer long-term survivors and all that they are doing to buoy the momentum of what the researchers at Stand Up to Cancer have been doing for years and years. Mandy Moore’s history with Stand Up to Cancer dates back to 2008 when the organization was formally launched by high-profile women from media and entertainment as a way to fight the disease and search for a cure.
