Mezcal and tequila are made from agave, but tequila can be made only from the blue agave plant. Tequila is made from fermenting the juice from the blue agave plant, which has a core called piña because it looks a little like a pineapple.

Produced in the lowlands of the Jalisco region, this tequila is prepared using some of the oldest and most ancient methods like brick ovens and wooden tanks for the fermentation process. The name of the brand is quite interesting, it combines two meaningful words, ‘tere’ derived from the Latin ‘terra’ meaning earth and ‘mana’, the Polynesian word meaning spirit, hence ‘spirit of the earth’. Roca Patrón has been compared to the Grand Patrón Burdeos for a similar taste with a justifiable price tag and better availability. The striking white-and-blue ceramic decanters are handcrafted by artisans in Santa Maria Canchesda. One of the noteworthy things about the bottle is that most of them are made with repurposed decanters from previous sales, and it takes about two weeks to make one of these stunning bottles. The tequila has sweet, fruity notes from dried fruit, butterscotch and chocolate that transcend into contrasting spicy, toasted notes with an undertone of sweet cooked agave. However, it is one of the most versatile drinks and can certainly be relished for its unique flavours, either as a cocktail or even just a classic sipper.
