Comic-Con 2022: New Trailers for 'Black Adam,' 'Shazam 2 ... (Rolling Stone)

“Hall H, you've been warned,” Johnson said stoically. “The DC Cinematic Universe will never be the same again.” It was the type of fanfare fitting for one ...

“To be a part of the DC universe and this world is the most exciting thing to happen to my career,” Liu said. She’s a delightful badass,” Mirren says of her character Hespera. “Zach, I had a marvelous time kicking the shit out of you. Being here now, being a woman of color and having this really wonderful career that I’ve had, it was an honor to be a part of something this special. “It’s a sequel now, we get more money and we spent it all,” he joked. Billy Batson, Shazam, loves his family, loves people,” Levi says of the new film and his character. This seemed like a dirty harry kind of character, in which the system is broken and corrupt, sometimes you need someone to bring the system down.”

Shazam 2: First Trailer Footage Released In Advance Online (The Direct)

Shazam released some brief new footage ahead of its Comic-Con debut.

This looks even more likely now, thanks to some new footage from Fury of the Gods that has made its way online in advance of its big SDCC panel. Well, at the very least, audiences should be getting the first proper trailer for the movie. Now, it’s finally time to start preparing for the sequel, Shazam! Fury of the Gods.

Who Are Shazam 2's Villains & Why They Want To Kill Him (Screen Rant)

The new trailer for Shazam: Fury of the Gods officially debuts the Daughters of Atlas, revealing why they want Billy Batson and his family dead.

While there's plenty to be excited about for Shazam: Fury of the Gods, the new trailer has proved that its new villains are going to be one of the most intriguing parts when the film comes to theaters in December. As such, the Daughters of Atlas are perfectly positioned to serve as the film's rivals who threaten to take the Shazam Fam's power away in the new sequel. Summoning several mythological monsters of all shapes and sizes, it's clear the new villains will care very little about the collateral damage and loss of innocent lives that will inevitably get caught in the crossfire if the Shazam Family can't stop them. However, these two Daughters of Atlas in the DCEU appear to be much more dangerous, wearing Greek battle armor while wielding powerful magic. Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for Shazam: Fury of the Gods, officially debuting the film's villains known as the Daughters of Atlas. It's also revealed why they want to kill Shazam (Zachary Levi) and his family. Played by Helen Mirren, Lucy Liu, and Rachel Zegler, the Daughters of Atlas will be positioned as the sequel's primary villains.

'Shazam! Fury of the Gods' Trailer Shows the Shazamily Facing ... (Collider.com)

A new trailer for Shazam! Fury of the Gods has dropped teasing an action-packed addition to the franchise with stars Zachary Levi & Jack Dylan Grazer.

With the release date practically around the corner, Warner Bros will release more exciting content in promotion of the film soon. The upcoming film will see the return of Asher Angel as Billy Batson and Zachary Levi as his superhero alter ego Shazam. Jack Dylan Grazer will also return as Freddy Freeman, with Adam Brody returning as his adult superhero form. He seems to having a bit of a rough time with superheroing, and he's the only one keeping things together — which may prove tough as a couple of ancient, superpowered women come into possession of a staff that could do some serious damage.

Comic-Con 2022: Shazam! 2 Trailer Includes Two Big Horror Easter ... (Comicbook.com)

New Line Cinema and DC Comics had a massive Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con where they released some new trailers for their next two films.

Sandberg quickly took to Twitter to reply to a fan that noticed an Anabelle Easter egg. In the trailer for Shazam! Fury of the Gods, we see cameos from The Flash (Ezra Miller), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), and Batman (Ben Affleck) but as it turns out, there are some other cool Easter eggs hidden in the trailer. Black Adam and Shazam! Fury of the Gods are the next big films to come out of the DC Extended Universe, and it seems that they definitely won't be holding back.

Horror movie fans spot Annabelle in Shazam 2 trailer (The Digital Fix)

Horror movie fans have spotted the deadly doll Annabelle from the Conjuring movies in the Shazam 2 trailer but her cameo actually makes a lot of sense.

You can spot her in a pawn shop, where Billy leads some cops, sitting on the shelf. Sandberg actually included an Annabelle in the first Shazam movie. Annabelle, the possessed doll and unofficial mascot of the Conjuring movies, makes a brief appearance in the trailer.

David F. Sandberg Is '100%' Going To Return To Horror After ... (/FILM)

Now he's a full-blown blockbuster director; "Shazam!" earned the best reviews of the DCEU this side of "Wonder Woman" and "The Suicide Squad." The sequel, ...

However, while Sandberg's comments are uncertain, they're far from a definite "no." How "Fury of the Gods" is received will probably influence the director's next move too. For reference: "Shazam!" was shot for $100 million and "Fury of the Gods" is likely in the same ballpark. A sequel to "Lights Out" was announced mere days after the original's release in 2016. However, nothing has materialized yet, especially since Sandberg's been busy with "Shazam!" Sandberg was asked by /Film if a sequel to his debut feature is a possibility. His back-to-back hits of "Lights Out" and "Anabelle: Creation" are doubtless what got him the "Shazam!" job. Plus, there's the simple fact that making films on the scale of "Lights Out" and "Annabelle: Creation" (shot for $5 million and $15 million, respectively) is less stressful than making a blockbuster.

Box Office: Why 'Shazam: Fury Of The Gods' Can Thrive Alongside ... (Forbes)

If Shazam 2, again starring Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer and Grace Fulton (among others) and now bringing Helen Mirren, Lucy Liu and Rachel ...

Granted, considering the world as it exists and the admittedly intense competition from the James Cameron sequel, this is a case where a global total is merely on par with its predecessor, again assuming it’s good and pleases the crowds, counts as a relative win. Think, offhand, Pitch Perfect, Austin Powers, John Wick, Scream and (relatively speaking) Batman Begins. Moreover, while I don’t know the budget for this follow-up, I must presume that grossses on par with Bumblebee, The Greatest Showman or Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse ($390 million in 2018) will be “good enough.” Speaking of which, Across the Spider-Verse is almost a surefire breakout sequel. Bumblebee and Mary Poppins Returns earned $471 million (including, to be fair, $171 million in China) and $350 million while Aquaman was swimming past $1.1 billion. Even back in 2009, Sherlock Holmes topped $525 million and Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel earned $443 million in the same weeks that Avatar was earning $2.8 billion global. Star Wars: The Last Jedi earned $1.33 billion in December of 2017 while Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle earned $962 million and The Greatest Showman earned $434 million. In a sane world, opening days after Avatar: The Way of Water wouldn’t be a death sentence for Shazam: Fury of the Gods. Yes, it’s obvious why Warner Bros. Discovery moved David F. Sandberg’s DC Films sequel up to December 21 and pushed James Wan’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom to March 23, 2023.
