Shazam released some brief new footage ahead of its Comic-Con debut.
This looks even more likely now, thanks to some new footage from Fury of the Gods that has made its way online in advance of its big SDCC panel. Well, at the very least, audiences should be getting the first proper trailer for the movie. Now, it’s finally time to start preparing for the sequel, Shazam! Fury of the Gods.
Zachary Levi is back (and throwing trucks at dragons) in the second Shazam! film's first trailer.
How are we supposed to be focusing on superheroes when Annabelle and Eminem could potentially be teaming up? Fury Of The Gods is currently flying its way toward a Christmas 2022 release date. Anyway: The trailer as a whole looks pretty neat, with Zachary Levi’s Billy Batson/Shazam recounting all the ways he feels inadequate to the great powers that have been bestowed upon him by Djimon Hounsou’s wizard beard—apt, since the whole plot of the movie seems to be about the gods taking back those powers from Billy and his various foster siblings.
While visiting EW's Comic-Con video suite, 'Shazam: Fury of the Gods' star Jack Dylan Grazer joked that he always knew Adam Brody would play an adult ...
Not to mention they're now having to navigate what it means to be a superhero." "And they're all learning how to be their teenage selfs. "We're both very instinctual actors — we both follow our gut.
DC Films stars Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson ("Black Adam") and Zachary Levi ("Shazam!") were both on hand to introduce their films with surprises up their ...
for the upcoming "Shazam!" sequel, Levi's hero is in a funk. Both super-powered men bear the same lightning bolt on their uniforms, though Adam's is sullied by mud, dirt and inner turmoil. "I don't deserve these powers," he muses.
Other new cast members include Rachel Zegler and Lucy Liu. Also, there's a very big dragon creature. Fury of the Gods has had a few different premiere dates, ...
It’s called Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, DC revealed a first look at the superhero adventure. Shazam! brought a lighthearted tone to DC’s theatrical run when it debuted in 2019, and the sequel looks to do much the same later this year — at least if the debut trailer is anything to go by. Fury of the Gods has had a few different premiere dates, but — along with pretty much all of DC’s theatrical slate, more than once — that timing has shifted.
The new film starring Zachary Levi and Helen Mirren is coming to theaters on Dec. 21.
In the comics, Black Adam is the arch nemesis of Shazam and, in many ways, his darker counterpart. While Shazam has the powers of the Greek gods, Black Adam calls upon the Egyptian gods for his incredible power. It’s sure to be an exciting end of the year for Shazam fans as the new “Black Adam” film starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is coming on Oct. 21. One of the sources of Shazam’s powers is Atlas himself — he holds the stamina of the titan god. Both characters do not have an obvious counterpart in the DC Comics, but, as the daughters of the Greek god Atlas, they no doubt have a relationship to the boy-turned-magical-superhero. The sequel to “Shazam!,” the hit 2019 film from the DC Extended Univers, is coming Dec. 21.
The trailer is filled with the Shazam-ily, Helen Mirren's Hespera, and references to the DCEU and Fast & Furious. Matt Fowler Adam Bankhurst ...
The story will see the Shazam family (established at the end of the first movie) balancing normal life with being superheroes, before two goddesses – Mirren's Hespera and Liu's Kalypso – visit the world and cause trouble. The movie, which will arrive on December 21, follows October's debut of Black Adam - Shazam's traditional comic book nemesis. "Now, it’s a couple of years on.
If Shazam 2, again starring Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer and Grace Fulton (among others) and now bringing Helen Mirren, Lucy Liu and Rachel ...
Granted, considering the world as it exists and the admittedly intense competition from the James Cameron sequel, this is a case where a global total is merely on par with its predecessor, again assuming it’s good and pleases the crowds, counts as a relative win. Think, offhand, Pitch Perfect, Austin Powers, John Wick, Scream and (relatively speaking) Batman Begins. Moreover, while I don’t know the budget for this follow-up, I must presume that grossses on par with Bumblebee, The Greatest Showman or Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse ($390 million in 2018) will be “good enough.” Speaking of which, Across the Spider-Verse is almost a surefire breakout sequel. Bumblebee and Mary Poppins Returns earned $471 million (including, to be fair, $171 million in China) and $350 million while Aquaman was swimming past $1.1 billion. Even back in 2009, Sherlock Holmes topped $525 million and Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel earned $443 million in the same weeks that Avatar was earning $2.8 billion global. Star Wars: The Last Jedi earned $1.33 billion in December of 2017 while Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle earned $962 million and The Greatest Showman earned $434 million. In a sane world, opening days after Avatar: The Way of Water wouldn’t be a death sentence for Shazam: Fury of the Gods. Yes, it’s obvious why Warner Bros. Discovery moved David F. Sandberg’s DC Films sequel up to December 21 and pushed James Wan’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom to March 23, 2023.
Here's what we learned at SDCC about what's ahead from SHAZAM! Fury Of The Gods, which opens in AMC theatres this December.
It’s clear there’s a lot of love for Shazam! And his potential in the larger DC Universe among fans. And during the SDCC panel’s fan Q&A portion, Zachary Levi was asked if he might fight Superman in FURY OF THE GODS or a future film. “It was an honor to be part of something so special and a universe we can all relate to because we all want to belong. Good thing it all ended with “Shazam!” being a command echoed by a group of his fellow heroes, because up next he’ll face a new super-powered threat in SHAZAM! FURY OF THE GODS. Since Billy Batson first said “Shazam!” in the 2019 DC movie, the orphaned teen’s life changed a ton: he gained the ability to become a costumed superhero with god-like powers, fought the Seven Deadly Sins and found himself a family of his own. Zachary Levi pointed out that it was his character’s, but she owned her presence by challenging the actor to a showdown.
Box office hits have not been relegated solely to Marvel films. Of course, it still helps to be a part of a franchise (no films in the top ten of 2022 are ...
"Avatar" remained at the top of the box office that weekend. Sandberg is certainly not wrong about the release of the first "Avatar" being a boon to the box office all around. For the action and adventure fans, you have "Shazam! Fury of the Gods" in place of "Sherlock Holmes." For the kids and families, you have " Puss in Boots: The Last Wish" instead of the "Squeakquel." Finally, for the film aimed more towards an adult audience, you have the Whitney Houston biopic " I Wanna Dance with Somebody" supplanting "It's Complicated," as the music biopic is now the box office draw romantic comedies no longer are. " Sherlock Holmes" and " The Squeakquel" both crossed the $200 million mark and were among the ten highest grossing films of the year, domestically. Guy Ritchie's " Sherlock Holmes," Nancy Meyers' "It's Complicated," and "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel" all came out December 25, 2009. Five days later, " Shazam! Fury of the Gods," a sequel to a decent financial success from a few years ago, hits theaters. I mean, look at the first 'Avatar.' There were other movies that came out at the same time and did really well ... especially at Christmas ... everybody knows that 'Avatar' is going to be, like, the biggest movie ever. The first "Shazam!" earned about $140 million domestically back in 2019, which is pretty far from the earnings we tend to see superhero films get. But this was a much smaller superhero movie than we were used to, even if it came from one of the big two in DC. As sequels tend to do, everybody would hope "Shazam! Fury of the Gods" would outperform its predecessor, which probably costs more than the first film's reported $100 million budget, and Warner Bros. is certainly positioning it do so with it premiering the week of Christmas. This is where they released " Aquaman" to the tune of $335 million domestically. While there is always the possibility Cameron's epic takes up all the oxygen, David F. Sandberg thinks that will not be the case. The domestic box office has finally begun seeing quite the resurgence since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Without question, it has taken the thunder out of a lot of these tentpole movies.
New Line Cinema and DC Comics had a massive Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con where they released some new trailers for their next two films.
Sandberg quickly took to Twitter to reply to a fan that noticed an Anabelle Easter egg. In the trailer for Shazam! Fury of the Gods, we see cameos from The Flash (Ezra Miller), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), and Batman (Ben Affleck) but as it turns out, there are some other cool Easter eggs hidden in the trailer. Black Adam and Shazam! Fury of the Gods are the next big films to come out of the DC Extended Universe, and it seems that they definitely won't be holding back.
