Shazam 2: First Trailer Footage Released In Advance Online (The Direct)

Shazam released some brief new footage ahead of its Comic-Con debut.

This looks even more likely now, thanks to some new footage from Fury of the Gods that has made its way online in advance of its big SDCC panel. Well, at the very least, audiences should be getting the first proper trailer for the movie. Now, it’s finally time to start preparing for the sequel, Shazam! Fury of the Gods.

'Shazam: Fury of the Gods' Trailer: The Shazamily Fights Helen ... (Variety)

The new film starring Zachary Levi and Helen Mirren is coming to theaters on Dec. 21.

In the comics, Black Adam is the arch nemesis of Shazam and, in many ways, his darker counterpart. While Shazam has the powers of the Greek gods, Black Adam calls upon the Egyptian gods for his incredible power. It’s sure to be an exciting end of the year for Shazam fans as the new “Black Adam” film starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is coming on Oct. 21. One of the sources of Shazam’s powers is Atlas himself — he holds the stamina of the titan god. Both characters do not have an obvious counterpart in the DC Comics, but, as the daughters of the Greek god Atlas, they no doubt have a relationship to the boy-turned-magical-superhero. The sequel to “Shazam!,” the hit 2019 film from the DC Extended Univers, is coming Dec. 21.

'Shazam! Fury of the Gods' Trailer Shows the Shazamily Facing ... (Collider.com)

A new trailer for Shazam! Fury of the Gods has dropped teasing an action-packed addition to the franchise with stars Zachary Levi & Jack Dylan Grazer.

With the release date practically around the corner, Warner Bros will release more exciting content in promotion of the film soon. The upcoming film will see the return of Asher Angel as Billy Batson and Zachary Levi as his superhero alter ego Shazam. Jack Dylan Grazer will also return as Freddy Freeman, with Adam Brody returning as his adult superhero form. He seems to having a bit of a rough time with superheroing, and he's the only one keeping things together — which may prove tough as a couple of ancient, superpowered women come into possession of a staff that could do some serious damage.

Shazam! Fury Of The Gods Teases Bigger Action And More Fun (AMC Scene)

Here's what we learned at SDCC about what's ahead from SHAZAM! Fury Of The Gods, which opens in AMC theatres this December.

It’s clear there’s a lot of love for Shazam! And his potential in the larger DC Universe among fans. And during the SDCC panel’s fan Q&A portion, Zachary Levi was asked if he might fight Superman in FURY OF THE GODS or a future film. “It was an honor to be part of something so special and a universe we can all relate to because we all want to belong. Good thing it all ended with “Shazam!” being a command echoed by a group of his fellow heroes, because up next he’ll face a new super-powered threat in SHAZAM! FURY OF THE GODS. Since Billy Batson first said “Shazam!” in the 2019 DC movie, the orphaned teen’s life changed a ton: he gained the ability to become a costumed superhero with god-like powers, fought the Seven Deadly Sins and found himself a family of his own. Zachary Levi pointed out that it was his character’s, but she owned her presence by challenging the actor to a showdown.

Shazam!'s success could be attributed to a host of factors, but the core element that gave the film buoyancy was its effusive tone. One of those films was 2019's Shazam! Well, it would make even more sense if they changed that awful brand name, but you have to crawl before walking.

Zachary Levi is back (and throwing trucks at dragons) in the second Shazam! film's first trailer.

How are we supposed to be focusing on superheroes when Annabelle and Eminem could potentially be teaming up? Fury Of The Gods is currently flying its way toward a Christmas 2022 release date. Anyway: The trailer as a whole looks pretty neat, with Zachary Levi’s Billy Batson/Shazam recounting all the ways he feels inadequate to the great powers that have been bestowed upon him by Djimon Hounsou’s wizard beard—apt, since the whole plot of the movie seems to be about the gods taking back those powers from Billy and his various foster siblings.

While the Daughters of Atlas do not appear in DC Comics, Atlas himself does! In one shot, she’s being struck by Shazam’s lightning, which may be a variation of the resurrection plot from the comics. In the trailer for Shazam! Fury of the Gods, we see Kalypso using her powers to grow a giant tree in a stadium. Often portrayed as daughters of Atlas, the Hesperides appear in stories about Hercules and Jason and the Argonauts. Here’s where things get a little more grounded in the comics, at least a little. This may spell trouble for Miller's long-term DC future after The Flash, or perhaps Warner Bros. just wants to keep them out of the limelight until things die down. The actor's face was omitted from the clip amid recent controversy surrounding them.
