Three talking points ahead of Barcelona vs Real Madrid (Barca Universal)

The miraculous run in La Liga that saw them unbeaten for 15 games and the 4-0 win in El Clasico were some of the clear standouts. Advertisement.

Lewandowski may be on the wrong side of 30 but if last season is anything to go by, he is nothing short of a goalscoring machine. Being a serial winner, his integration into the team will bring about a change in mindset and drive. Needless to say, the whole world will have its eyes on him. Clearly, the manager includes him in his plans and has something big in store for the youngster. Xavi’s attention now is to find a direct replacement for the defensive midfielder. The biggest question entering the new season is the forward line.

As seen with Kounde, though, Raphinha decided to hold out until Barca made an approach for him and in the end opted for a dream move that has already allowed him to make his debut in Blaugrana and get on the scoresheet in a 6-0 rout of Inter Miami midweek. If Barca manage to pull off the Kounde coup, however, it will be just the latest occasion they have managed to get one over on Chelsea in the transfer market. "No, not Kounde," Laporta said.

Barcelona, Areas Of France Taking Steps To Limit Number Of Tourists (TravelAwaits)

Travel to some European cities is about to change. Officials are taking aggressive steps to curb overtourism, which can alter your travel plans.

The price will depend on demand for that day. To ease the problem, Venice will soon impose a tourism tax for anyone wanting to visit the city. “What we’re trying to do, especially for the national markets like Paris and the French people, is to get people to come year around rather than the summer months or peak periods,” said Collier. Overtourism is not just for the big cities. “The brands already use whisper devices to ensure noise levels do not disrupt those not on tour. Tour guides must instead use radio-based equipment or whisper devices to convey information to the tour group.

Danny Welbeck and Deniz Undav -- who is coming off a season scoring 26 goals in Belgium -- are the other forward options which could leave Graham Potter a little light up top if Maupay moves. After a rough first season with Arsenal, Tavares needs more polish than he would get playing behind Oleksandr Zinchenko and Kieran Tierney making this a solid move to get game time. Kounde has been in contact with both clubs, but it will be interesting to see how things play out as Barcelona's bid will likely be lower than Chelsea's. Barcelona would also like Cesar Azpilicueta (though perhaps only if they don't get Kounde0 but Tuchel is not sure he'll let Azpilicueta move unless Barcelona offers what Chelsea is demanding. Chelsea have reached an agreement with Jules Kounde, after reports suggested Barcelona hijacked the deal. Transfer Talk is LIVE with the latest.

Nice have approached Leicester for Kasper Schmeichel after failing to secure Yann Sommer, according to L'Equipe. The 35-year-old goalkeeper is reportedly interested in a move, but only if he can part ways with the Foxes amicably after 11 years. The midfielder, who has one year left on his current deal, is tipped for a move to France, with Lyon reportedly leading interest. Bayern Munich have secured a £24.3m deal for Rennes' teenage striker Mathys Tel on a five-year contract, reports Sky Sports Germany. The Bundesliga champions had three bids rejected for the 17-year-old, before coming to an agreement with the Ligue 1 side. Juventus are looking to part ways with Adrien Rabiot this summer, and this could involve a swap deal with PSG for Leandro Paredes, as per Tuttosport. The Bianconeri are reportedly requesting a transfer fee between £12.7m to £17m for the 27-year-old, who is one of the squad's highest earners. The Portugal international is reportedly interested in a move to the Wanda Metropolitano, which would promise Champions League football next season, despite spending nine seasons with their rivals, Real Madrid. The Serie A side included the defender in negotiations with Chelsea for Romelu Lukaku, but the Blues rejected the wing-back as part of the loan deal.

Barcelona have abandoned Guardiola's DNA principles by signing ... (The Guardian)

Barça have opted to buy big instead of backing a young squad and a manager steeped in the club's values and traditions. Robert Lewandowski.

And it may be that City, having set up a Barça-style model, look to maintain that approach after Guardiola has gone – even if the financial benefits of home-produced players are less relevant to them than more traditionally funded clubs. DNA is the excuse used to give a former player of limited experience the manager’s job in the hope that because he “knows the club” he will somehow be able to conjure Guardiola-style success. Perhaps in time that coherence of approach can, as it did with Ajax, become something integral to the club’s identity. And the sort of coherence that characterised that Barcelona side is perhaps only produced by years of learning a system and playing together. But for those who actually prioritise the sport, the message seemed obvious: clubs need to be more like Barcelona. Clubs need to have a method and a philosophy, taught through their academies and then applied in the first team, easing the step up from the youth ranks. This could have been sold to fans as a three-year build, Joan Laporta putting right the mess left by his predecessor as president, Josep Bartomeu. They even have, in Xavi, a coach who was developed at their La Masia academy and embodies the club’s values.

What is the possible Barcelona starting lineup for the Clásico match ... (AS English)

We tell you Barcelona's probable line-up in tonight's Clásico match against Real Madrid in Las Vegas, Nevada, where Lewandowski is expected to debut.

And when it comes to the attacking game, all combinations are lethal, especially looking beyond Poland’s Robert Lewandowski. Xavi is going to give him his first playing time this preseason, but it seems difficult for him to be a starter, since he hasn’t been a member of the group for very long. In the midfield, the combination possibilities have increased with the arrival of Kessié. In fact, the Ivorian could accompany Sergio Busquets and Pedri in the lineup, while Gavi and Nico would start on the bench. Watching the game against Inter Miami, where the team gave a masterful lesson in efficiency and ball control, tonight’s defense could be made up of Dest, Araújo, Eric and Alba. In theory, Piqué will not arrive in time for the Clasico, while Christensen will surely get some playing time.

Barcelona overpowered the midfield of Camavinga and Tchouameni in the first half and Real Madrid didn't get a shot on target during the match. With Dembele being a different type of winger to Raphinha, Dest still feels like an odd man out in the lineup but he certainly will fight for his place at the club. It's clear that the match meant a little more to Xavi than Carlo Ancelotti as Real Madrid rolled out a more experimental lineup that was at a disadvantage to Barcelona's press. Even when Barcelona didn't score, they tested Thibaut Courtois heavily in Vegas. When Ousmane Dembele came into the match in the second half, he was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet. Benzema missed the match due to starting preseason late so that he could get an extended holiday but without a recognized forward, Real Madrid struggled in attack. With both teams putting out strong sides, it was a good time for Barcelona's new-look attack to get a test after rolling over Inter Miami. Real Madrid's youthful midfield of Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni got a good test in the first half against Barcelona's top attackers.

Moreover, he created several chances in the final ten minutes with his forward runs. Aubameyang had a relatively silent game on the night. He was at the heart of every Catalan build-up and impeccable in defence. Alba was a constant menace down the left flank in the opening half and showed why he is indispensable to Xavi’s setup. Kessie could well turn out to be the Catalans’ best signing of the window. Christensen was calm-headed and solid in his play and did not hesitate to make the occasional vertical or lobbed pass. Against Real Madrid, it was his wonder strike that sealed the game. The clash in Las Vegas was fiercely competitive and saw a battle of emotions and passion on the field. His hunger for goals will undoubtedly be a big factor in Barcelona’s success this season. However, Real Madrid did not record a single shot on target in the 90 minutes, meaning that he was barely tested at Allegiant Arena. At this point, it is accepted that the Canary Islander is mature well beyond his years. If not for Thibaut Courtois, the Catalans could have had at least four goals to their name.

His introduction returned the defence to a more orthodox system, with an out-and-out left-back at number three. The Uruguayan needs to unleash his shot more often; he has goals in his right boot, if he’d just loosen the shackles a little bit. Although yet more competition has arrived in the shape of Rüdiger, you’d expect Nacho to find a way to earn game time. This season, a campaign which is key to his future, he will have more competition than ever. Was on the receiving end of a Busquets foul that could have done him significant damage. Despite that blot on his copybook, it’s clear that he’s a player whose influence at Madrid is growing all the time. Vinícius had to wait until close to half time before coming up with a moment reminiscent of the player that exploded into life last year. He fulfilled his role with no little aplomb, going toe-to-toe in a heavyweight battle with Barcelona’s Ronald Araújo. First in a spectacular footrace, then in a melée just before the break. His major error left the ball on a plate for Brazil colleague Raphinha to punish Madrid with a left-footed shot that made it 1-0. His presence did not serve to alleviate Madrid’s major problem in the first half: they just could not deal with Barcelona’s high press. He was Madrid’s sharpest midfielder early on, although his mistake when trying to turn in his own area almost cost Los Blancos a goal. Courtois picked up where he left off last season, showing that he’s the best goalkeeper in the world.

Transfer Talk: Barcelona beat Chelsea to signing Sevilla's Jules ... (ESPN)

Barcelona have beat out Chelsea on the transfer of Sevilla defender Jules Kounde. Transfer Talk has the latest.

- PSG are looking to complete two transfers by next week, according to L'Equipe. The Ligue 1 side are already close to completing a five-year deal for RB Leipzig's Nordi Mukiele, with the 24-year-old defender reportedly coming to an agreement on personal terms. This decision was reportedly influenced by new manager Erik ten Hag, who regards Maguire as a key figure in the dressing room for the Red Devils. Eintracht Frankfurt's Filip Kostic is considering a West Ham United switch, according to Bild. The 29-year-old, who registered 15 assists and seven goals in 42 appearances last season, is yet to respond to the Bundesliga side's offer of a three-year contract extension. Juventus have offered Liverpool £20 million for Roberto Firmino, as per Ekrem Konur. The 30-year-old is in the final year of his contract with the Reds, and he has previously expressed no desire to leave Anfield this summer. The Serie A side initially looked to achieve this through the transfer of Milan Skriniar, but his exit has stalled with Paris Saint-Germain reportedly unwilling to match the 27-year-old's €80m price tag. Chelsea could reignite their interest in Dumfries, as they previously enquired about him during negotiations for Romelu Lukaku.

"There was a reality and we collided with that reality and we had to make that decision." Laporta admitted in March 2022 that the decision to part ways wasn't an easy one but it was in the best interest of Barcelona at the time. "I think it is our responsibility to ensure that this chapter, which is still open and has not been closed, has a moment in which it can be done as it should have been done and that it has a much more splendid one than what it was."
