MultiVersus Beta patch notes released (EventHubs)

- Side Air Special: Taz can no longer turn and change direction of the knockback. - Side Air Attack: Jake's stretch punch distance is now based on charge time. + Aerial and Grounded Down Special: Cooldown reduced from 20s to 18s. This should provide more opportunities and openings for the enemy team to play around. - Harley Bat Bomb will detonate after 6 seconds even when attached. The goal of these changes are to give Batman earned ring-out power and additional team utility. It is now capped at 10 stacks reduced from unlimited stacking. If Arya dashes to a dagger on an ally, she enrages herself. One of the biggest additions to the MultiVersus Beta is the inclusion of the Iron Giant as a new playable fighter. Those that try to stall along the wall will accrue increasingly dangerous penalties as time goes on. Players won't just be restricted to online play and the training mode this time around. Unlike the last two alpha tests, it will also be possible to play 1-4 player locally.

MultiVersus Open Beta Patch Notes Detail Changes Ahead Of Early ... (GameSpot)

A few characters have seen some big tweaks with the open beta on its way.

The sweet spot on the attack will only apply if charged for a long enough time. It is now capped at 10 stacks reduced from unlimited stacking. This should provide more opportunities and openings for the enemy team to play around. - - Up Air Special: The goal of these changes are to give Batman earned ring-out power and additional team utility. If Arya dashes to a dagger on an ally, she enrages herself. - + Grounded Up Attack: Can cancel on hit earlier to allow it to more reliably combo. - - Side Air Attack: Has more whiff recovery to allow it to be more punishable. Characters from the closed alpha most affected by the MultiVersus open beta patch include Finn from Adventure Time--who loses the ability to infinitely stack speed boosts via his down special attack--and Tom and Jerry, whose close-range attacks are more punishable when blocked or dodged. The full list of changes from the MultiVersus open beta patch is below. The open beta will also add local multiplayer in both free-for-all and team-based modes for up to four players. Ability cooldown modifiers affect both cooldowns equally.

The teamwork gimmick of MultiVersus makes it more compelling, while it also had more to do even in the closed beta. I'm sure there were a lot of factors in the development process, but the end result is a game that just wasn't very good. I've written about my love for Reindog, the OC character in the game, but one is the limit. I know as a professional video game critic I could be more eloquent on the issue, but that's all there is to it. There's a lot to be excited about when it comes to MultiVersus, but also a lot to be wary of, and as its beta is about to launch, it's worth looking at why. Neither of these games will be better than Smash. Nintendo's brawler has one of the most singularly-focussed directors in the industry, a thriving competitive scene, and two decades' worth of experience behind it.

MultiVersus: How to Unlock More Characters (Game Rant)

Multiversus gives players a variety of characters from various Warner Bros properties to pick from, though not all of them are unlocked at the start.

The Deluxe version is $60 and features 20 Character Unlock Tokens, 1,000 Gleamium, 1 Premium Battle Pass unlock as well as epic level cosmetics. In fact, Player First Games is using this open beta session as a soft launch for Multiversus as the studio isn't planning to change much of its core gameplay mechanics ahead of a full launch later this year. The closed alpha also showed off cosmetic and customization options earned from in-game currency as well as a battle pass, which follows suit for most free to play games.

Velma Might Be The Best Character In MultiVersus, WB's Smash ... (Kotaku)

The early-access open beta for the free-to-play brawler is underway, and it already has an unexpected standout.

That said, it takes a while to collect the needed evidence to make that call. Even with her limitations, Velma is that chick. One of the things that makes her stand out is the level of support provided and overall strength of her various abilities. The only drawback being cooldown timers that prevents Velma from spamming the better parts of her arsenal. Velma is one of the best characters in the game by a huge margin. Expect her to be rushed from the start. Seeing someone get scooped up and carried off the stage is as comical as it is effective. Velma is a force to be reckoned with in the right hands. By rapidly tapping the attack button you can send out her Supportive Words projectiles that seek out targeted friends and foes. If it lands on an ally, they’ll not only be healed but send out a stronger version of the beam. Synergizing one’s abilities with that of a partner to overcome the opposition. Derived from YouTuber Midya’s edit of an episode from Scooby-Doo! Legend of the Phantosaur—where a hypnotized Shaggy single handedly defeats a biker gang—it was a viral hit that some felt culminated in the creation of WB’s free-to-play brawler.

How to toast another player in MultiVersus (Upcomer)

Players can obtain and give out toast in MultiVersus to show good sportsmanship and complete one of the starter missions.

Players have to complete all of the starter missions before they can start working on the battle pass, so it is in every player’s best interest to learn how to toast as quickly as possible. There, they will have the option to give toast to the opponent by clicking a button above the opponent’s character. Players will not actually have the option to toast someone else after a single game in MultiVersus. Rather, they will have to play out a full best-of-three set.
