Wade had spent his entire career with the Yankees prior to being traded to the Angels last November.

The Yankees entered Thursday with a 62-26 record, giving them the best mark in the majors. Otherwise, there's no reason to believe he's a factor in their plans, or that he's likely to reach the majors between now and the end of the season. Wade, 27 years old, appeared in 67 games with the Angels prior to being designated for assignment on July 3.

Angels Trade Tyler Wade To Yankees (MLB Trade Rumors)

The Angels are trading utilityman Tyler Wade back to the Yankees, his original organization. Get more details on the move at MLB Trade Rumors.

Wade is a career .286/.353/.414 hitter in 1132 plate appearances at the Triple-A level. He spent as much time with the Yankees as he did from 2017-21 (264 games 491 plate appearances) due to his versatility with the glove and his above-average speed. Wade appeared in 67 games with the Angels in 2022, playing every position other than catcher, first base or pitcher and generally providing solid defense (particularly in the middle infield). He tallied what’s already a career-high 163 plate appearances with the big league club but managed only a tepid .218/.272/.272 batting line in that time. Both were on display with the Halos, evidenced by his eight stolen bases (albeit in 13 tries) and the aforementioned appearances at six different defensive positions. No player was ever announced as going back to the Yankees, so it seems the two sides settled on a cash return instead. As such, he’s not currently on the 40-man roster.

Yankees acquire Tyler Wade from Angels in complete offseason ... (Yanks Go Yard)

The New York Yankees have brought Tyler Wade back in a complete reversal of their offseason decision to dump him off the 40-man.

If Oswald Peraza gets promoted for the purposes of an experiment in the second half, Wade will get significant Triple-A reps. Remember how little sense it made for the New York Yankees to cut bait with Tyler Wade this offseason? Wade will be a Yankee again, as Brian Cashman has swung a small trade with the Angels to inject the infielder back into their system.

How Tyler Wade fits into Yankees' plans (nj.com)

The Yankees acquired Tyler Wade from the Angels on Thursday for a player to be named.

Tyler Wade getting DFA’d by the Yankees and then traded to the Angels last November was surprising. The Angels DFA’d Wade to give a first big-league call-up to Michael Stefanic, who was handed the starting base position. He said he’d gone from one great team that was loaded with stars to another leaving Aaron Judge and the Yankees last November for Shohei Ohtani, Mike Trout and the Angels. “I’m excited to get him back with us,” Boone said. Please consider supporting us with a subscription. Ever since, Wade and the Angels’ worlds sure were turned upside down.

Aaron Boone Can See Tyler Wade Playing 'Significant' Role After ... (Sports Illustrated)

New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone is excited about the Tyler Wade trade with the Los Angeles Angels, saying he can see Wade playing a role this season.

Will the Yankees toy with their big-league roster, needing a versatile player to help out in the Bronx? Wade was acquired by the Yankees in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations, the team announced on Thursday. Only time will tell if Wade is destined to don pinstripes again, and if he'll truly impact this club's pursuit of a championship later this fall. If anybody gets hurt, Wade is now just one phone call away, a primary option for Boone and the coaching staff. "Excited to get him back in the organization," Boone said Thursday afternoon. So, excited to get him back with us, he's been an important part of the team these last few years."
