On Wednesday night, Oregon Ducks tight end Spencer Webb died in a diving accident west of Eugene. He was 22.
He was expected to compete with Terrance Ferguson and Moliki Matavao to start at tight end this fall. Webb was set to enter his fifth season with the Oregon Ducks this fall. "Spencer Webb … dude hit me up every morning about how he would be our best pitcher," Oregon baseball coach Mark Wasikowski tweeted. After arriving, deputies learned that the 22-year-old Webb was out on the rock slides at Triangle Lake when he fell and hit his head. People at the scene and the paramedics tried to resuscitate Webb but could not do so. We will miss Spencer greatly."

Webb played the Utes once in his career and that was last season at Rice-Eccles Stadium. He had one catch for three yards. The Sacramento, California native played two seasons in three years for the Ducks. As a freshman in 2019, he had 18 receptions for 209 yards and three touchdowns in nine games played.
