The Chicago Bears have traded a 2024 seventh-round draft pick to the New England Patriots in exchange for wide receiver N'Keal Harry.
For track and field, Harry ran the 100-meter, 200-meter, and 4x 100-meter. With his height, Harry will have more of an advantage in catching 50-50 throws. He was looked at as one of the top wide receivers in that year’s draft and was deemed a perfect fit for New England’s system. In three years, Harry has only played in 33 games, where he totaled 57 receptions for 598 receiving yards and four touchdowns. On the ground, he had 23 rushing attempts for 144 yards and three rushing touchdowns. He had 213 receptions for 2,889 receiving yards and 22 receiving touchdowns. Harry didn’t play until Week 11, as he was nursing an ankle injury suffered in preseason. He only managed 12 receptions for 105 yards and two touchdowns in seven games. He will get that chance in Chicago. At just 24, there’s a lot of room for growth. Harry and New England were headed for a separation ahead of training camp. The only receiver taller than him is Equanimeous St. Brown, who stands 6-foot-5. He’s in need of a fresh start.

The Patriots had been excited about his physical makeup (6-foot-4, 225 pounds) and knack for making contested catches. The Bears signed former Kansas City wideout Byron Pringle to one-year deal worth $4.125 million and used a third-round pick on Velus Jones Jr. Chicago also brought in Equanimeous St. Brown, Dante Pettis, Tajae Sharpe and David Moore to fill out its receiving corps this offseason. The 24-year-old joins a receiver room in Chicago led by Darnell Mooney, who led the Bears in receiving last season, and features plenty of new faces that will compete for playing time.

Harry receives a new chance to start his once-promising career elsewhere. Chicago is entering the first year of a new era with low expectations. When 2021 arrived, Harry was ready for a change of scenery but didn't receive it, instead narrowly making the team's 53-man roster before appearing in 12 games (four starts), catching just 12 passes while teammates Kendrick Bourne and Jakobi Meyers found success with rookie quarterback Mac Jones.

And Chicago selected receiver Velus Jones Jr. out of Tennessee in the third round of this year’s draft. Then in 2020, he appeared in 14 games with nine starts, catching 33 passes for 309 yards. Harry had his fifth-year option declined in the spring.
He was drafted in the first round of the 2019 draft but has struggled to start his career.
Before the start of the 2021 season, he requested a trade but was never dealt. He started in five of his seven appearances during his rookie year and nine of his 14 games played in 2020. In his first two seasons, he caught a total of 45 passes for 414 yards and four touchdowns.

They don't necessarily need a standing ovation for finally cutting the cord on a former top-25 pick, but unloading Harry for anything at this point should be considered a minor win. More than likely, they could've waited until the end of the summer for Harry to be outright released and tried to sign him that way. The 2024 seventh is what it is, but saving $1.87M rather than $1.198M by outright cutting him is a little bonus for their 2022 cap as well. After his trade request last summer, he opened 2021 on IR with a shoulder injury and finished the year with 12 catches behind newcomers Kendrick Bourne and Nelson Agholor. Harry faced an even tougher road to action this summer, with the Patriots drafting Tyquan Thornton and acquiring former Dolphins starter DeVante Parker via trade. The New England Patriots made a trade today that was a long time coming, sending wide receiver N'Keal Harry to the Chicago Bears for a 2024 7th round pick.
The Patriots lost in the actual trade with the Bears. A 2024 7th round pick for a guy that was a former first round pick. So the Patriots will be fine at the wide receiver position. But it just never really happened that way for the now former Patriot. We saw it in his first season with Tom Brady. Brady didn’t really trust Harry. The Patriots lost with this draft pick, period. Well, the N’Keal Harry era is officially over in New England. N’Keal Harry has been a guy that had so much talent, but it wasn’t being portrayed on the field.
The New England Patriots hastened the inevitable on Tuesday by trading receiver N'Keal Harry to the Chicago Bears in exchange for a seventh-round draft ...
In the aftermath of the Patriots’ acquisition of Parker from the Miami Dolphins, Harry’s days in a New England uniform appeared to be numbered. For Harry, he receives a fresh start with the Bears, and their young, second-year quarterback Justin Fields. At 6-4, 225 pounds, Harry’s size and strength could make him an effective weapon in short yardage situations, in both receiver and tight end packages. The Patriots offense will be under heavy scrutiny in 2022. More often than not, however, was a minimal factor; never looking truly comfortable in the Pats offense. Despite a solid start to Training Camp in 2021, he was sidelined for the start of the season — having suffered an injury to his shoulder during the second quarter of the Pats’ preseason matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles. Upon his return, he actually saw more action as a blocker in the running game rather than a pass catcher. Hampered by injuries during his first two years with the Pats, he has appeared in only 35 of a possible 50 games, including two playoff contests.
So, the move makes sense, but Harry is still not a player that is locked onto the roster, or that should give Bears fans plenty of hope. He is just another ...
The hope is that if Harry does play well, the team may be able to get a friendly deal with him. Harry is on the last year of a four-year $10M deal. That leaves a little under $1.9M for the Chicago Bears this season. One difference between them all is that the Chicago Bears trading for N’Keal Harry meant that they were taking on his current contract. When the Chicago Bears traded for N’Keal Harry it was hardly a surprising move. He is just another lottery ticket in a group of them with guys like Equanimeous St. Brown, and Dante Pettis.
Ryan Poles added to the Bears wide receiver competition by acquiring N'Keal Harry from the Patriots. Here's our grade of the trade.
He’s barely eclipsed 300 receiving yards in a season and has missed games due to injury in each year he’s been in the league. Poles clearly sees something with Harry and wants him for the start of camp, not wanting to wait on a cut. Harry underperformed in his three seasons as a Patriot, dealing with injury issues and failing to produce consistently when he’s been on the field.
