The game will be shown live on MUTV and LFCTV Go. Both channels require a subscription. 35th minute: Klopp's second XI are really struggling with a United team fully up to the speed of the game. 1st minute: Both sets of players take a knee and are applauded by the Bangkok crowd, and we're off! 1hr to KO: Roberto Firmino starts for Liverpool, with Mohamed Salah on the bench. 20 mins to KO: There are some less-familiar faces behind him — most notably teenage full-backs Issac Mabaya and Luke Chambers — but the reassuring presence of Jordan Henderson will anchor the Liverpool midfielder. 16th minute: United are looking to exploit pace in behind the Liverpool central defensive pair. Talking of veterans, that's a lovely touch from Milner but his 25-yard effort is easy for De Gea to gather. There's a Uruguayan on the scoresheet, just not the one you expected! His storming run to set up Pellestri’s goal was the icing on the cake. One half of United’s much-maligned midfield duo stole the attention with his majestic finish but McTominay also made his mark - quite painfully for a couple of Liverpool players. After spending the second half of last season on loan at Sevilla, Anthony Martial has become something of a forgotten man at United. But a skilful, pacy and versatile forward should theoretically tick a few boxes for Ten Hag Uncertainty surrounds Cristiano Ronaldo’s future and Edinson Cavani’s departure had already left United light up front. Carvalho clattered the post in the 18th minute and Diaz should have scored from the rebound.

Things we learned from Man United v Liverpool (Manchester United)

Manchester United made a stunning start to life under Erik ten Hag with a 4-0 victory over arch-rivals Liverpool to lift the Bangkok Centenary Cup.

The only worry was when he appeared to sustain a problem after coming to the edge of the box and turning sharply to ensure he kept the ball in the area. Eric Bailly was outstanding as the Reds held Jurgen Klopp's men at bay, showing athleticism and aggression and a determination to defend. Whether that was probably down to personnel, with skipper Harry Maguire unavailable due to a knock, is another matter but it showed some versatility from the South American. The left-back slot in the second half went to new boy Tyrell Malacia, who made a couple of eye-catching early interventions, including chopping the ball on a run that was appreciated by the crowd. Three goals without reply in the first half was a testament to the fitness work at Carrington and in Thailand, with a real desire to press from the front. Savage kept the ball tidily, helping to screen the defence, while Iqbal's balance and movement impressed. It is on to Melbourne next, with more challenges to come. The third, from Martial, was the Frenchman at his best, displaying great composure to lift over the Liverpool keeper, when in a one-on-one situation. One crunching aerial challenge on James Milner left the former England midfielder requiring some attention and the veteran avenged the tackle with a blatant block on the United man soon afterwards. The keeper looked assured in possession, and kept a clean sheet during his time on the field, as the only Red to stay on for the start of the second half. David De Gea was off his line sweeping up confidently on occasion, and was quickly in action, making a near-post save with his feet that has become one of his trademarks. Our first look at the new home shirt was certainly a positive one as Ten Hag's XI looked fit, fresh and with something to prove. There is clearly no such thing as a friendly in Scott McTominay's book, especially when Liverpool are providing the opposition.

Manchester United impress, beat Liverpool in Bangkok: What we ... (NBC Sports)

Manchester United beat Liverpool in Bangkok, Thailand as Erik ten Hag's first game in charge was a commanding friendly win to kick off preseason.

Jadon Sancho, Anthony Martial shine as Ronaldo-less United may be the way to go: Fluidity is key for Erik ten Hag’s tactics and we saw that in abundance in the first half. Diogo Dalot then smashed the woodwork after a fine run down the right as United kept surging forward. That is exactly what Erik ten Hag wants and with Cristiano Ronaldo, would United get that kind of fluid movement up top in the final third? Klopp will have learned a lot about his fringe players and youngsters in that tough first half against a close to full strength United. That is what preseason is all about. United’s starting lineup was very strong and yes, this was a friendly, but it was also a clear view of how this United side will play under ETH. As first impressions go, it doesn’t get much better than this. Jadon Sancho, Fred and Anthony Martial all scored within 21 first half minutes to put United 3-0 up and they looked sharper throughout.

Erik ten Hag says he saw "mistakes" in his first preseason game in charge despite Manchester United's 4-0 rout of Liverpool.

It was so open and it was pretty clear where we made the mistakes." We have to [be careful]." "Of course we are satisfied today because I think that was a team with a great spirit and we know we are just starting and things went wrong, clearly," he said.
