PlayStation Arabia's Instagram page has shared a new piece of art for God of War Ragnarok, showing Freya fighting Kratos and Atreus.
Now that the release date for God of War Ragnarok has been revealed, it looks like marketing for the game will begin in earnest, as a new piece of art has already been shared by PlayStation Arabia's Instagram page. With this piece of art randomly dropped, it looks like we can expect to see more coming now that the release date has been announced. Just yesterday, PlayStation finally confirmed that God of War Ragnarok will be launching November 9, finally ending the rumours that it had been delayed into 2023.
The much anticipated God of War Ragnarok will launch on November 9 with two special editions for fans, the Collector's Edition and the Jotnar Edition.
Pre-order bonuses include the Kratos Snow armor and Atreus Risen Snow Tunic. The Jotnar Edition is similar but includes a few additional goodies, such as a vinyl record of the game’s music by Bear McCreary, a pin set, a Draupnir Ring, Brok’s dice set, and Yggdrasil cloth map. The digital deluxe version of the game includes all of the aforementioned digital items.
And just like that, all the drama was over. PlayStation has just announced that God of War Ragnarok will indeed hit its promised 2022 release window, ...
Now we have the date, and that was really the only outstanding major question left. A recent leak said that Sony was planning to reveal the date about a week ago, but that didn’t happen and Sony Santa Monica’s Cory Balrog tweeted that if it was up to him, he’d share more, implying Sony wanted to wait for some reason. That’s pretty much it, it seems, and unlike Xbox’s Starfield, which was delayed into 2023, PlayStation will indeed have a big holiday hit this year, and it seems as if Elden Ring could have some 2022 GOTY competition after all.

Sony's long-awaited God of War sequel arrives on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in November, Sony announced with a new CG trailer.

Sony also released a new trailer for God of War Ragnarok, but don’t expect new gameplay: It’s a CG trailer setting the tone for Kratos and Atreus’ new adventure.

Although Sony Santa Monica has finally given us a God of War Ragnarok release date, fans are less than impressed with the game's Collector's Edition.
One disgruntled gamer wrote, "Okay it's really f*****g weird that the God of War collector's edition come with a steelbook but no actual game disc, but a voucher for downloading the game instead. As someone writes, this is a "worrying trend," and you might remember when Horizon Forbidden West pulled a similar trick with its Collector's Edition earlier this year. Even though you obviously get Ragnarok (in the form of a download code), the Twitterverse is suitably raging that these collector's editions don't come with a physical copy of the game, meaning we'll have to buy a base edition of the game to complete the package. The Collector's Edition includes two Vanir Twin carvings, a dwarven dice set, and the 1:1 Mjolnir replica. God of War Ragnarok is hammering home a November 9 release date. Along with all the usual bells and whistles, we have the souped-up Collector's Edition to add to your shelf.
God of War Ragnarok's latest trailer features a massive wolf whose presence may hint at a few major events in the upcoming sequel.
Does that mean that Fenrir is going to be a somewhat unlikely ally to Kratos and Atreus in God of War Ragnarok rather than the hulking boss fight beast that the trailer presents him as? So far as that goes, it’s important to remember that this isn’t actually the first time that we’ve encountered one of Loki’s mythological offspring in a God of War game. While that giant wolf is never officially identified in the God of War Ragnarok trailer, it certainly appears to be Fenrir: the massive mythological beast who is arguably best known for biting off Týr’s hand.
God of War Ragnarok gameplay is now expected in August, possibly in a new State of Play-like event, according to an insider.
The ResetEra insider in question Ashong was the only insider who said back in May that fans shouldn’t expect a God of War Ragnarok State of Play anytime soon, which has turned out to be true since we haven’t seen anything two months on. God of War Ragnarok gameplay is now expected in August, possibly in a dedicated State of Play event. A verified ResetEra insider, who previously dismissed reports of a God of War Ragnarok State of Play in June and July, has hinted that we’ll see finally something in August. Here’s hoping.
Players who pay extra for plastic tchotchkes are stuck with a "printed voucher code."
In other words, the same trends leading to GameStop stores that have more Funko Pops than games may be leading to collector's editions that don't have physical games at all. And while Sony could split its collector's editions into physical and digital versions (or simply bundle both together, a la "disc to digital" movie releases), that could end up more costly and complicated for an already constrained supply chain. In this case, though, the PlayStation Blog specifically points out that there is "no game disc included" with the Steelbook. If you want a copy of the game to put inside that case, you have to shell out an additional $60 or $70 for the physical Standard Edition of the game. The lack of physical discs in these collector's editions is more than a little weird, considering how many other tangible products are packed into these bundles. Forbidden West did come in a limited $70 to $80 "Special Edition," though, which included a Steelbook, mini art book, and a disc-based copy of the game. Players who pre-order a Ragnarok Collector's Edition won't even be able to preload their digital copy of the game to play immediately on launch day.
Santa Monica has released a new God of War Ragnarok trailer featuring Kratos and Atreus, along with a dark wolf that poses many questions.
However, if Heimdall is a foe, he could prove to be a dangerous obstacle for the heroes, especially if he is assisting the gods who conspire against Kratos and Atreus. Either way, he is likely to be a significant influence in the game. If Heimdall is a friend, he could prove to be a great asset for Kratos and Atreus because he is a wise god who is said to possess foresight and very good hearing and sight. Asgard, in Norse mythology, refers to the dwelling place of the gods, including great figures such as Odin. The eyes of Asgard mostly likely refers to Heimdall, who serves as the watcher who stays on the lookout for Ragnarok. He lives in Himinbjorg, which is on the border of Asgard, where the rainbow bridge hits the heavens. If, as is the case in Norse mythology, Angrboda has some connection to Fenrir, she could help bring the wolf over to their side. This is because Atreus shares very close connections to Norse mythology's Loki, as is revealed in 2018's God of War. Atreus discovers that his mother had originally named him Loki, although Kratos ultimately gave him the name he now uses. With Kratos and Atreus standing side by side, the trailer suggests that the two will still be a tight team, even if they are dealing with bigger challenges than ever before.
The anticipated reveal of the God of War Ragnarok release date has blown up social media, with it breaking records on the developer's Twitter.
On Twitter, the tweet with the release date reveal on the official PlayStation account has received more than 157 thousand likes, while a three-second GIF loop of the trailer on Santa Monica Studio’s tweet has gotten more than 88 thousand likes. It’s no surprise that the God of War Ragnarok release date reveal has generated incredible numbers on social media given the hype from multiple reports. At the time of this writing, the 30-second cinematic trailer for God of War Ragnarok on YouTube has reached over 3.1 million views and is “#2 on trending.” The like-to-dislike ratio is also noteworthy, with the video getting 175 thousand likes to only 2 thousand dislikes.

This message essentially acts as a little plot summary for Ragnarok and reveals a bit more information on what Kratos and Atreus are actually doing in the game. None save the gods have been able to chart our strange geography but among mortals few can boast the expertise enjoyed by the Huldra brothers whose ability to navigate and traverse the realms rivals Yesterday, Sony revealed Ragnarok's collector's edition, including the steelbook that comes with the two most expensive versions of the game.
