Paula Badosa tried to challenge Simona Halep at Wimbledon but she only managed 60 minutes on the court with the Romanian who won 6-2 6-1.

This matchup lasted only 60 minutes and it saw Halep largely dominate against Badosa who was forced into the defensive which she doesn't do that well. She was forced to overhit oftentimes but it didn't 'work. Simona Halep is playing on a very high level right now, one that could result in her winning the trophy as she did in 2019.

Simona Halep swatted Paula Badosa aside in an hour 6-1, 6-2 to create a mouth-watering Wimbledon quarter-final with Amanda Anismiova.

Her 6-2, 6-3 win over Tan was just as impressive as her hard-fought win over Gauff in the previous round. She even moved to the south of France and since then, has a renewed spring in her step. As she blitzed her way to victory, Mouratoglou was busy standing, fist pumping in familiar fashion. At the beginning of the year, she was considering hanging up her racket, disillusioned with the sport and wondering if it was really worth all the work to get back to the top. Her former coach Darren Cahill had urged her to spend some time there in the past, but she always held out. The Spaniard has rocketed up the rankings in the past year, winning the title in Indian Wells last October. Bold from the baseline, she had edged out two-times champion Petra Kvitova in a high-quality match in the previous round.

In her return to Centre Court, former champion Simona Halep lost just three games in a Round of 16 win over No.4 seed Paula Badosa. She faces a familiar foe ...

Her best result was a second-round showing in 2019. She needed just 51 minutes to get past Katie Boulter in the previous round but could not get her unpredictable game going in the face of Anisimova's big striking. In 2019, Anisimova snapped Halep's 11-match Roland Garros win streak. Tan struck nine winners and 12 unforced errors, generating just two break points in the match. Halep, seeded No.16, returned to Centre Court on Monday for the first time since she held the Venus Rosewater Dish aloft in 2019, and dominated Spanish No.4 seed Paula Badosa from start to finish in a 6-1, 6-2 triumph. "Actually, I was more nervous yesterday than today," she admitted with a smile in her on-court interview.

Read on for Jon Reid's betting analysis of the Wimbledon quarterfinal match between Simona Halep and Amanda Anisimova.

The form is scintillating, having dropped a total of three sets in her 11 matches on the grass in 2022 (with none of those coming at Wimbledon). Further, she’s dropped just 5.5 games per match to this point at the All England Club. While Anisimova has the game that could trouble Halep with the pure power that can hit through the Romanian when redlining for a prolonged period, I see absolutely no reason to oppose Halep right now. With the natural power on her serve and forehand, the grass was always a surface that the young American was going to find success on at some point. Anisimova Odds Anisimova Odds Halep Odds

Simona Halep serves recall notice at Wimbledon (The Indian Express)

Handed a difficult draw and given a cold shoulder by Wimbledon, the Romanian's thumping 6-1, 6-2 win against fourth seed Paula Badosa reminded everyone of ...

She was showing all the characteristics of a once-dominant player on the decline, something that had become a common occurrence on the women’s tour recently. It was Halep’s best result of the year and one that catapulted her as one of the favourites for the Wimbledon title this year. But her dominant displays have come as a surprise, given the state of her career over the past few years. The 2019 champion was not able to defend her title in 2020 after the tournament was cancelled due to COVID-19, and she did not play in 2021 due to a calf injury. After a few years of uncertainty and buildup marred by physical issues, it was presumed that the Romanian will not be up to the task at SW19 this year. So, her hotly anticipated first-round encounter against Karolina Muchova was relegated to the No. 1 Court, where she won with a statement-making score line of 6-3, 6-2.
