What we know about the Patriot Front march through Boston (Axios)

"The disgusting hate of white supremacists has no place here...we will not normalize intimidation by bigots," Boston Mayor Michelle Wu tweeted.

He was later taken to Tufts Medical Center, the Herald reported. Other flags displayed versions of the symbol used by Benito Mussolini's National Fascist Party, per the Herald. The big picture: City Council President Ed Flynn wrote in a letter Saturday that members of neo-Nazi groups have "continued to make their presence known" in Boston in recent months. - The man told police that he was pushed around, knocked to the ground, and assaulted by members of the group, suffering several lacerations. State of play: The group approached a rental truck parked near the Haymarket metro stop and unloaded shields and a number of different flags, according to the Boston Herald. Driving the news: Police received a call around 12:30 p.m. that a group of protesters were marching through the city, though their route was unknown, CNN reported.

If the khaki pants, blue shirts and masks look familiar, it’s not the group’s first splash in the news. Patriot Front split off from Vanguard America in 2017. A Herald photographer caught an image of the man being pushed by marchers with shields. The group says that “an unwavering resistance will meet all enemies of the people and the nation, both foreign and domestic.” The group’s manifesto calls the U.S. “a bleeding carcass bereft of the moral foundations which made it powerful.” Flyers found near Boston Public Library after the group marched through were from the Patriot Front. The group is described by the Anti-Defamation League as a “white supremacist group whose members maintain that their ancestors conquered America and bequeathed it to them, and no one else.” The group is also known for conducting flash demonstrations, in which group members appear and protest quickly, then leave. The group began assembling at Haymarket in Boston around 12:30 p.m. Saturday. A Boston police dispatcher reported that the group began “unloading shields and flags from a UHaul” before marching to Back Bay Station and dispersing around 1:30 p.m.

Sam Hauser Signs Three-Year, $6 Million Deal With Boston Celtics (CalBearsMaven)

Former UVA basketball standout Sam Hauser signed a three-year, $6 million deal with the Boston Celtics.

If Hauser can give the Celtics quality minutes with some reliable shooting, their chances of going back to the Finals will be even better. He also made 10 appearances in the G League with the Maine Celtics and averaged 16.9 points per game and shot 43.3% from beyond the arc. With Hauser in the fold, and factoring in their trades, the Celtics now have 12 standard roster spots accounted for. The intention was always for the Celtics to re-sign Hauser to a longer deal. Look for Hauser to get more on-ball reps and to work as an individual creator. In 13 G League games (12 starts) with Maine, Hauser showed he can do more than be a standstill shooter. Now, Boston will use his Non-Bird rights to give Hauser a three-year contract. In his most extensive playing time, as the Celtics rested several regulars, Hauser knocked down 4-of-5 shot, including 3-of-4 from behind the arc.

The Celtics will keep hold of Hauser, who shot 43 percent from 3-point range both in 26 NBA appearances and 10 G League games last season.

Also, Spurs forward Danilo Gallinari indicated that he will sign a two-year, $13 million deal with Boston after clearing waivers, and center Luke Kornet agreed to re-sign on a two-year deal. So, always in the right spot, great team defender and knows how to use himself, his angles and a cerebral guy, not just offensively but defensively as well.” He also played in 10 games with Boston’s G League affiliate, the Maine Celtics, and averaged 16.9 points while connecting on 43.3 percent of his 3-pointers. Last week, Boston declined Hauser’s $1.6 million option for next season and made him a restricted free agent, making this multi-year deal possible. “First and foremost, the shooting stands out,” Celtics coach Ime Udoka said in April. “Elite shooter…But he’s a very cerebral player across the board. The Celtics signed the sharpshooter from Virginia to a two-way contract last summer, and in February the deal was converted to an NBA contract after a collection of trades opened up several roster spots.

Malcolm Brogdon pumps up Boston Celtics twitter with two words (Chowder and Champions)

Did the Boston Celtics pull off a heist in Day 2 of NBA Free Agency? Well Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens has his name already on ...

That is, as long as they grow from what went wrong in the 2021-22 NBA Finals. Not only does he take some of the pressure off Marcus Smart at the point guard position, but he also becomes a reliable scoring option next to Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Along with a big contract the Pacers wanted to clear from their books, injury concerns are what made Brogdon available at a cheap price when it comes to the Celtics.

How does Malcolm Brogdon fit with the Boston Celtics? (BasketballNews.com)

After the Celtics lost to the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals, Stevens turned his focus quickly to the offseason, and laid out a vague, yet detailed ...

Brogdon will rarely have to exhaust energy as a point-of-attack defender as long as Smart and White are healthy, and he seems capable of acclimating to the high-pressure world of Celtics scrams and switches. Now, he won't have to worry about pressuring a defense, and in theory, he can turn into a floor-spacer while Brogdon and White do the heavy lifting with the ball. This shouldn't be a serious concern; Brogdon might stay healthier with a lesser workload, and he's indicated he knows what he has to sacrifice. His presence should particularly help White — who is used to playing as a "1B" attacker from his days in San Antonio — speed to the basket with more freedom as Brogdon draws some defensive eyeballs away. Brogdon and Gallinari add 821 combined NBA games started to the shuffle, and to have both off the bench is a testament to the depth of a title frontrunner. Tatum, Brown, Smart and White can all orchestrate offense with a base level of comfort, meaning Brogdon receives more time as a spot-up perimeter threat. Brogdon isn't the 50-40-90 player he was in 2017-18, but he's also just a better knockdown shooter than his 2021-22 numbers indicate. It further strained the synergy between Brogdon and Tyrese Haliburton, who, as Caitlin and Mark both emphasized, did not mesh particularly well in a tiny eight-game sample. To me, a good "playmaker" can create an advantage and make the high-efficiency play, whether it be a bucket or a pass, out of that advantage. Brogdon isn't passing players open, but he has the requisite court vision to read help defense and sense where his shooters are. Then, he can get the ball to his extended finishing hand so quickly that even longer defenders can't recover in time (look at that drive on Jaylen Brown). Brogdon doesn't have the best natural touch at the rim, but all of these smaller tricks of the trade help him clear the obstacles. But even if the on-paper trade-off was minimal, this is still a serious bet that Stevens and Ime Udoka know how to straddle that aformentioned fine line — how to avoid complacency without upsetting the fragility of a team's identity.

Boston Bruins: David Krejci reunion is last thing the team needs right ... (Chowder and Champions)

Although it's appealing to many, the Boston Bruins should be focused on the future rather than reliving their glory days by bringing back David Krejci.

For everything he’s given this organization, he deserves that, on top of the fact that he is still an elite player. It’s beyond time to accept the reality that the old group just was never good enough when it mattered, and reliving those days will only bring us more pain in next year’s playoffs. Looking towards it by moving on from Don Sweeney and his terrible drafting ( although that’s another story entirely). Preparing for it by seeing what some of the organization’s young centers can do with consistent playing time, rather than a 36-year-old who plays at a snails pace. Every year with that group was the same story: elite regular seasons only to crumble in the playoffs, unless their goaltender went on a legitimately historic hot streak. Hope that running it back with a group that was far from winning anything last year, with a coaching change as the only real difference, will lead to an actual title run this year. More likely, however, Bruins fans would quickly realize that the AHL-level competition of the Czech league did nothing to prevent the always slow Krejci from falling even further behind today’s rocket fueled NHL.

Bruins Could Find Value Signing Stastny (The Hockey Writers)

The Boston Bruins are entering the 2022 free agency period in an interesting spot. On the one hand, the team is at the tail-end of their championship window ...

Another question mark heading into next season will be the roles of Erik Haula and Charlie Coyle. The two players served as the Bruins’ No. 2 and No. 3 centers respectively last season, but that would undoubtedly change if at least one of Krejci or Stastny are added to the lineup. If the Bruins find themselves in a spot where they have so many centers capable of playing in a middle-six capacity that one or two of them are forced onto the wing, that means that they will be as versatile a team as it comes next season. While Stastny could be an option for the Bruins at both center and on the wing, his two-way ability, leadership, team-first mentality and special teams prowess make him the perfect fit for just about any team looking to bolster their lineup this offseason. On the other hand, though, the team seems primed to make at least one last push at a Stanley Cup next season with Patrice Bergeron believed to be signing a one-year, incentive-laden deal and rumors of David Krejci’s return being at least a possibility. This bodes well for newly-hired coach Jim Montgomery, but it also begs the question; what type of moves can and will the Bruins end up making to improve their roster from last season to next season. On the one hand, the team is at the tail-end of their championship window and are dealing with a plethora of significant injuries to top-end talent heading into the 2022-23 season.
