Wimbledon: Coco Gauff into round three after impressive win over ... (Eurosport.com)

Coco Gauff is into round three of Wimbledon after an impressive straight sets win over Mihaela Buzarnescu.

And playing on this court, I think is probably one of the greatest privileges that I've ever gotten a chance to do. "I honestly didn't think I would play on this court until maybe like the quarters of semis if I made it that far. But you know, I think 15 year old me would be proud that I'm still playing on Centre Court.

Coco Gauff sets up all-American Wimbledon third round clash after ... (Daily Express)

Coco Gauff has set up a Wimbledon clash with compatriot Amanda Anisimova after a straight-sets win over Mihaela Buzarnescu on Centre Court.

But Gauff was undeterred, and at 2-1 up, she four times forced deuce on Buzarnescu's serve, but failed to capitalise. And sure enough, at the end of the set she took a lengthy comfort break, forcing her opponent to wait several minutes before play restarted. The 11th seed endured a tricky moment at 1-1 in the opening set, but came back from 0-30 to win four consecutive points.

Coco Gauff at Wimbledon 2022: What we learned from win over ... (iNews)

Gauff says playing on Centre Court is 'one of the greatest privileges' but she looked every bit at home on the big stage.

Gauff will meet one of them in the fourth round if she progresses. Of the top handful of seeds, Karolina Pliskova and Anett Kontaveit are already out, and there is growing curiosity as to whether Gauff can go all the way. Victory over Buzărnescu set up a meeting with No 20 seed Anisimova in the third round, the draw having seen her avoid the architects of the two biggest upsets so far in the ladies’ singles – Harmony Tan, who stunned Williams in the first round, and Britain’s Katie Boulter, who knocked out last year’s finalist Pliskova in the second.

Coco Gauff triumphed over Elena-Gabriela Ruse of Romania Tuesday at Wimbledon 2022. Gauff takes on Mihaela Buzarnescu in the next round today, June 30.

Over my career, I kind of lost how to deal with the pressure a little bit. After a two-and-a-half-hour match, Gauff shook Ruses’ hand as the declared winner. It was an electrifying match and I want to congratulate her on her tennis and her fight.

A familiar foe stands between Coco Gauff and week 2 at Wimbledon ... (Tennis Majors)

It hasn't even been five years since Coco Gauff and Amanda Anisimova squared off for the US Open girls singles title in 2017.

Yes. Will Gauff do everything in her power to make sure it doesn’t happen? I think for the most part I do pretty well at that. But don’t sleep on the No 20 seed. “Playing on hard court all the time, hard is still my favorite surface because you know what you’re going to get every single time. She needed 10 championship points in the final game to close out the title, 6-0, 6-2.
