And I thought I know how it is to want to change your name. You know, I just want to be off the grid. This man has been through and survived a lot of stuff. “I was at the dentist and I was taking nitrous oxide. It’s like people, they get amnesia, like I should never have to call more than one time. But I had to think. This man was so famous, it was just good enough for me to be Chicago’s version of Puff. You know, I took a little hiatus. So many of my life choices. He inspired so many of my choices. “And think that everybody had on leather jackets and new Tims every day… How do we appreciate our kings?,” he began. “How do we crown our kings?

Diddy, Kanye and other surprises shine at the BET Awards (Los Angeles Times)

Lil Nas X went to war with the BET Awards after he wasn't nominated. But it was a bevy of surprises during the show that took center stage.

“It’s been a long time coming,” DML told The Times on the red carpet about the growth of African music in the United States. “We’ve been working hard, to make sure we get the sound of the continent outside. “We’ve always had to make a way when there was no way, and we’ll do it again.” After a year when African artists continued their charge into mainstream American culture, the genre was well-represented, both in the performances and in the trophy department. Stitched throughout the award show were speeches and actions against gun violence, along with calls to action in the wake of the Supreme Court’s overturning Roe vs. In an eight-minute speech, Diddy pledged $1 million each to his alma mater Howard University and to Jackson State University, the historically Black college making waves in football under NFL Hall of Famer and coach Deion Sanders. Wade and ruling that states may choose to make abortion illegal. “My mom was working three jobs, helping cerebral palsy patients at night, getting up to be a bus driver, then going to work at a clothing store. “I was signed to Puff without him knowing.” But going into the show, Lil Nas X had drawn the attention. “He’s done it all.” He then recalled stories of how the trailblazing mogul impacted him. “He’s a really great artist.”

Janelle Monae, Jazmine Sullivan and host Taraji Henson comment on Roe vs Wade being overturned.

"Godspeed for women's rights. Will Smith was also a winner at the BET Awards, picking up the best actor award for his role in King Richard, which was also named best movie. This is everybody's issue. "This is not just a woman issue. "I want to speak directly to the men: We need y'all. We need y'all to stand up, stand up for us, stand up with us," she told the audience. Protests have taken place in the US, despite a lot of support for the change in laws.

5 moments from 2022 BET Awards: From Janelle Monáe to Kanye (Los Angeles Times)

Kanye West, Janelle Monáe, Brandy, Mariah Carey and Jussie Smollett didn't get any awards at Sunday's BET Awards, but they still stole the show.

He inspires so many of my choices, so many of my life choices, my wife choices,” Ye said to a cheering crowd and adding with a chuckle, “And here we are ... thanks for that, Puff.” “If Puff ever need us, we need to jump and be there. I just want to be off the grid. Wade decision was front of mind for Henson, attendees, winners and even the show’s “in memoriam” segment. I said, ‘I just want to declare myself legally dead for a year. Veteran performers Jodeci, Mary J. Blige, Shyne, Faith Evans, Lil Kim, Busta Rhymes, the Lox and even Diddy himself performed an all-star tribute to the Bad Boy Records founder. We absolutely deserve to celebrate, especially now we must celebrate our art by protecting our right and our truths.” And broke down all the doors and understood contracts in a way a lot of us still don’t. Understood money in a way a lot of us still don’t. I go to him for advice till this day. “Back then it was so many rules to hip-hop and he broke all of them. This is not just a woman’s issue. This is everybody’s issue. The U.S. Supreme Court’s reversal of the landmark Roe vs.

BET Awards: 8 Things the Cameras Missed (Hollywood Reporter)

Elsewhere backstage, TV personality Tami Roman was hosting the Win-Cam backstage, interviewing Latto, Billy Porter, Jazmine Sullivan, KeKe Palmer, Brandy, Kirk ...

The screams and cheers were perhaps loudest after Jack Harlow’s performance with a surprise showing from Brandy — “Yasss!” and “We did that!” — but also after Muni Long, and Latto and Mariah Carey. Everyone on the carpet was commiserating over sweating through their makeup (pro tip: Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty setting powder seems to be the secret to keeping a matte face) and overheating in their suits. And how she’ll have to fend for herself in a world that doesn’t see her as an equal.” Wade thing hits differently for me because in 1993 I made the decision to terminate my pregnancy and I was thankful that I had that option. “I want to be solution-based…I just want to know how we get back to being free. I think people are missing the point, it’s not about being pro-life and it’s not about being pro-choice, it’s about this country providing the freedom for people to make decisions and be whatever they want to be.”
