A few minutes into the match, Harwood was escorted to the back at one point, so he may have suffered an injury. The match wasn't perfect by any means, but it was as entertaining as it needed to be. After hitting Black with a 450, Pac locked Connors in the Brutalizer for the win. - Suzuki's entrance music alone is over with the crowd more than a lot of stars on the roster. This match was a fight from the moment the bell rang. This match was chaos, but the good kind of chaos. Actually, saying they obeyed the rules is a bit of a stretch. Caster and Billy were able to get in some offense here and there, but it wasn't much. Lee and Swerve were able to secure the win before Team Taz taunted them from the crowd. The physicality was good here because both guys have the size and power to really make their hits look good, but it didn't have much else to it. Goto and Yoshi-Hashi scored the win to kick the show off. The last few minutes were the best part of the match.

Cobb hit the standing moonsault on Romero, then tossed Beretta into a german suplex from Cobb for a near fall. Caster finally made his own comeback and got the tag to Billy Gunn. Knight hit Gunn with a dropkick, but Gunn came back with a Famouser on Couglin. Caster hit the top rope elbow on Coughlin for the pin. Comoroto got Archer up for a gorilla press, but Archer slid out and took Comoroto down with a boot, then sent him to the floor with a flying tackle. The match settled down in the ring to Guevara and Yuta. Kingston tried to interfere and got a huge chant from the crowd. Comoroto went to the top, but Archer caught him with a knee, then awkwardly got him in position for the Blackout and scored the pin. Marshall went for a 450 splash that missed, and HASHI took Solo down with a dropkick to the knees. YOSHI-HASHI got the tag and took Marshall down with a head hunter (top rope blockbuster) for a near fall.

In the lead-up to the Forbidden Door PPV crossover event with New Japan Pro Wrestling, All Elite Wrestling announced a brand new title belt.

"It's a heavy emphasis on international competition, but the US can get involved in the competition," Khan explained. Connors almost had the victory, nearly pinning PAC to take home the built, but Malakai Black saved his rival in order to save his own chances at a championship. Instead of continuing his onslaught on PAC, Malakai went for Miro. It was ultimately Connors who came out of nowhere to put Miro through the table.

During the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view, Claudio Castagnoli (FKA Cesaro in WWE) debuted when he was the mystery opponent against Zack Sabre Jr., who was slated to face Bryan Danielson, tonight. Before his decade-long run in WWE, Castagnoli was a star on the independent scene, most notably having runs in Ring Of Honor, PWG, CZW, and Chikara. Castagnoli initially signed with WWE in 2011 where he quickly rose the ranks, going from the company’s development territory FCW and quickly making his main roster debut in April 2012. The match against Sabre Jr. would mark Castagnoli’s first appearance in a non-WWE ring since signing with the company in 2011.

With CM Punk not dropping his belt, it will be interesting to see the eventual build-up between these two talented wrestlers. NJPW even got their fair share of wins against the “home” wrestlers.

The tensions between the Bullet Club-rooted groups grew even more when Jay White pinned Adam Cole to win the four-way match that also included “Hangman” Adam Page and Kazuchika Okada to retain his IWGP world heavyweight championship. It made the show’s last impression feel more like a go-home show than a pay-per-view.

The athletes of All Elite Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling collided in Chicago, Illinois on Sunday night at the first-ever Forbidden Door event.

AEW introduced a brand new title belt at Forbidden Door with the All-Atlantic Championship. It seemed for quite a while that Malakai Black or Miro would become the first-ever All-Atlantic Champion, but PAC pulled the rug out from under everyone and earned the belt. In a matter of minutes, Claudio reminded everyone exactly what they'd been missing in his time away from wrestling, and we're already counting down the days until Blood and Guts so we can see him in action once again. Just about every wrestling fan on the planet assumed that the wrestler in question would be Claudio Castagnoli (fka Cesaro). His shoulder was taped up, but it didn't stop him from helping his best friend and partner Cash Wheeler give FTR their seventh star. Dax Harwood has become one of the most beloved wrestlers in AEW, so to say that it was a sting to see him exit the ROH and IWGP Tag Team Championship match was an understatement. prev

Claudio Castagnoli (formerly Cesaro) is the newest member of the Blackpool Combat Club after debuting at AEW X NJPW: Forbidden Door.

Despite the advantage of the Jericho Appreciation Society heading into Dynamite, the Blackpool Combat Club will be at home in a match as violent as Blood & Guts, and Castagnoli will have a few scores of his own to settle, including with his teammate Eddie Kingston. Castagnoli is also a former WWE Tag Team Champion, WWE United States Champion, and winner of the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royale. Even after winning several championships in WWE, the company's treatment of Castagnoli was heavily criticized, as many believed he had the makings of a main eventer and future world champion. Danielson promised that Sabre Jr.'s mystery opponent at Forbidden Door was an in-ring technician, and Castagnoli's reputation as one of the best professional wrestlers in the world proved Danielson's statement correct. Castagnoli is a former Ring of Honor World Tag Team Champion, and given AEW President Tony Khan's purchase of the company, Castagnoli may seek more ROH gold. Castagnoli made his AEW debut at Forbidden Door as the mystery opponent for Zack Sabre Jr. Castagnoli was the hand-picked selection to fill in for an injured Bryan Danielson, who Sabre Jr. had originally called out for a match. Castagnoli has also worked with other pro-wrestling promotions Ring of Honor, PWG, and Chikara throughout his career.

AEW is currently dealing with a laundry list of injuries across its roster, which is how Moxley ended up in the main event of Forbidden Door to begin with, as reigning AEW World Champion CM Punk had to be taken off the show due to a foot injury. On top of that, Bryan Danielson is currently out of action with an undisclosed issue, which is why he was replaced at Forbidden Door by the debuting Claudio Castagnoli. Moxley closed the show against the New Japan Pro Wrestling star in an entertaining headline match that saw him capture the title, but he was badly busted open during the encounter, visibly bleeding a lot throughout the match.

The ongoing pro wrestling injury bug attacked AEW's roster throughout the build to Sunday's Forbidden Door pay-per-view in Chicago.

As of now, there's been no change to the 12-man Blood and Guts match. It was a very physical wrestling match and he was pinned in the match. You have a great champion, and if they are injured, you name an interim champion and set up an exciting unification fight. Tony Khan explained his thought process of crowning an interim champion instead of stripping Punk of the world title multiple times leading up to Forbidden Door. No one has been able to officially confirm if he is concussed, but the comment did raise a few alarms. He was in the match.

It was reported earlier this month that Cole is “banged up” and has been that way for a while. Going into Forbidden Door, Cole had been out of action since defeating ROH World Television Champion Samoa Joe in the finals of The Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament at Double Or Nothing on May 29. After the match, AEW medics checked on Cole as AEW World Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks and Kyle O’Reilly came to the ring, stared down Page, then tended to Cole.

Reacting to the AEW-NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view that saw Jon Moxley become Interim AEW World Champion, FTR won more gold and more.

Like I said earlier, from a purely in-ring perspective, it was one of the best shows of the year. It seems to be leading to a match with the Young Bucks for all the gold. She’s always delivered on Pay Per View, but it feels like she isn’t a priority when it comes to airtime on Dynamite. That needs to change moving forward or get the title on someone you will invest the time in. It was a great show match-wise, but I don’t think it did a lot to establish NJPW stars to an American audience due to the buildup leading to the show. DUDES WITH ATTITUDES DEFEAT BULLET CLUB:If you thought there was any chance a team with Sting on it was going to lose, you haven’t been watching the product. Seeing Okada in a big match on a national stage was a treat. I felt he didn’t get nearly the push he deserved in WWE, but he still had a pretty great career there. This was the match I was most looking forward to. He got a pretty big pop from the fans in the United Center as he came out to face Zack Sabre Jr. Like I said, solid opener but you knew who was going to win as soon as they announced the stipulation. As soon as they added the stipulation of the man advantage, you could tell who was going to get the win here. I’m still frustrated with the lackluster build to the show, but it is what it is.
