It’s hard to see Brooklyn going for this, but the Trail Blazers have enough expiring contract value here. Lillard posted an Instagram story of him and Durant with Trail Blazers jerseys, sending the rumor mill flying. That’s where Portland Trail Blazers star guard Damian Lillard stepped in to turn things up a notch.

Damian Lillard made his pitch to bring Kevin Durant back to the Northwest with a photo on Instagram of the two side by side in Blazers uniforms.

Is Lillard just doing a little recruiting on the off chance that Durant becomes available in a trade? And until we know more, we’ll just assume that’s all this is. As a result, fans are Photoshopping players into their favorite teams’ jerseys and putting ESPN’s trade machine to use.

Lillard posted to his Instagram account a doctored photo of Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant in a Trail Blazers uniform standing next to Lillard.

A duo of Lillard and Durant could certainly have a chance to contend. Should Irving leave, the speculation is that Durant could then seek a trade. He’s seeking a long-term extension, but the Nets reportedly aren’t eager to oblige. But he can opt out of the deal. It just so happens that the Durant watch is on, given the frosty relationship between his good friend, guard Kyrie Irving, and the Nets franchise. However, the photo disappeared from Lillard’s Instagram after only a few hours.

The Atlanta Hawks have good odds in the Kevin Durant sweepstakes (Soaring Down South)

The Atlanta Hawks front office is saying they need a bit of a roster rejuvenation to get back to the top of the Eastern Conference.

They would have to give up John Collins in the deal, with at least another key piece from the Hawks’ best unit. The Hawks are just outside the Grizzlies in these odds which is an interesting place to be. The second-best odds for where Durant would land are the Memphis Grizzlies. What he could do alongside Ja Morant is a little scary.

But I think that Kevin feels like, ‘Hey man, when you guys didn’t try to understand this guy, you guys didn’t figure out where he was coming from.” Kevin Durant has not talked to the team in weeks, and I don't think Kevin is confident in the front office right now. Usually, those players don't get traded, but some recent speculation has suggested that his future with the Brooklyn Nets is far from secure.

Kevin Durant trade destinations if Nets don't keep Kyrie Irving (ClutchPoints)

Durant’s ability to score, facilitate, and play any position on the floor gives the Heat a proven playoff performer that would fill a major area of need for them. As long as they’d be able to keep Chris Paul, Devin Booker, and Mikal Bridges, the addition of Durant would only inch them closer to winning an NBA championship. Looking to bounce back in a major way after a disappointing finish to their 2022 campaign, the Phoenix Suns are due for some serious roster overhaul. Durant’s versatile offensive game and elite defensive play would be a great fit in the Heat’s dominant two-way style of play. This would catapult the Blazers into title contention and make Portland a more desirable free agent destination. The Grizzlies would even be able to run their own version of the death lineup to closeout games with Durant or Jackson Jr. at the center spot.

Kevin Durant: 4 clear reasons KD must move to Blazers to salvage ... (ClutchPoints)

Kevin Durant's future with the Nets remains uncertain. If he forces an exit, teaming with Damian Lillard on the Blazers is his best bet.

If Kevin Durant wins with the Blazers, he not only will he legitimize himself as a no-questions-asked NBA champion, he’d also be crowning Damian Lillard a champion. KD could go down that same path if he wins one of the Blazers. They have Damian Lillard locked in for over $40 million annually over the next three seasons. His skill level has inarguably been that of a top-10 player ever, but the question marks throughout his career have knocked him down a few pegs in the eyes of public opinion. In the infamous summer of 2016, they signed the likes of Allen Crabbe, Evan Turner, Meyers Leonard, Festus Ezeli and Maurice Harkless to hundreds of millions worth in guaranteed money. The former MVP has made it clear that he doesn’t care about any outside noise and just wants to play basketball with nothing left to prove.

Report: Durant frustrated Nets front office didn't get to know ... (NBC Sports)

As the situation deeriorates in Brooklyn each day, Kevin Durant has the back of his freind Kyrie Irving and thinks the Nets didn't get to know him.

The Nets feeling that Irving was not committed to the franchise didn’t come out of left field. Irving gave the Nets a list of destinations — a sign that things may be beyond reconcilable. It’s fair to say he genuinely thought playing with his friend Irving, and reconciling everything with James Harden, would work out very differently than it did — and none of that was on Durant directly. “The Nets got rid of Adam Harrington. who’s very close to Kevin. He’s one of Kevin’s guys. Kevin Durant has not talked to the team in weeks. At least that’s what it sounds like as the situation between Irving, Durant and the Nets — specifically GM Sean Marks and owner Joseph Tsai — deteriorates.

'It's Durantula!': Celtics analysts weigh in on giving up Jaylen Brown ... (Boston.com)

The Nets star hasn't asked for a trade, but is reportedly considering future options if Kyrie Irving leaves Brooklyn. See Boston.com.

Six years later, the Celtics received three first-round picks and a first-round pick swap for an aging Garnett and Paul Pierce. In order to get a 31-year-old Kevin Garnett in 2007, the Celtics had to trade four young players, including Al Jefferson, and two first-round picks. I think people, on the surface, it’s easy to say ‘Yeah, just trade Jaylen Brown and make that happen.’ It’s not that easy. In 2021, not only did the Nets have to trade young, rising players in Jarrett Allen and Caris Levert for a 31-year-old James Harden, they also had to give up three first-round picks and four first-round pick swaps. In order to get to that number, you need to take Jaylen Brown’s $28 million and add another $10 million and probably more parts from there. Scalabrine’s NBC Sports colleague Chris Forsberg doesn’t deny that adding Durant could lift the Celtics over the top.
