The Late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Offered Critique of Roe v ... (Scheer Post)

Ginsburg would've preferred that abortion rights be secured more gradually, in a process that included state legislatures and the courts, she added.

“My criticism of Roe is that it seemed to have stopped the momentum on the side of change,” Ginsburg said. “People like us – women law students – have so many opportunities because of people like Justice Ginsburg,” she said. “That was always my aim,” Ginsburg revealed. “We have a requirement upon us to help other people who aren’t as privileged as we are.” The Air Force gave her two options: terminate or leave the Air Force. Struck wanted to keep the baby and her job, and Ginsburg took her case. She talked about what life was like for women in the “not so good old days,” when judges believed that laws restricting women from certain work, such as bartending or lawyering, were there to protect the fairer sex. The Supreme Court agreed to hear the case, but the Air Force relented and allowed Struck to keep her job, rendering the issue moot. Brittany Gorin, ’15, asked Ginsburg what advice she has for young women taking up the mantle of the women’s rights movement. Those more acquainted with Ginsburg and her thoughtful, nuanced approach to difficult legal questions were not surprised, however, to hear her say just the opposite, that Roe was a faulty decision. Richardson, wherein she advocated that strict scrutiny be applied to sex classifications just as it was to racial classifications. Ginsburg also was troubled that the focus on Roe was on a right to privacy, rather than women’s rights. Wade likely expected a simple message from the longtime defender of reproductive and women’s rights: Roe was a good decision.

The Left's Hatred for Ruth Bader Ginsburg Intensifies (Townhall)

Notorious RBG stuck with it until she died in the waning days of the 2020 election and was replaced with Justice Barrett. So, I guess we should thank RBG again. Barack Obama invited her to lunch in 2013 to gently bring up the idea that she should ride off into the sunset of retirement. There was a meltdown, but then a realization that RBG screwed the Left on the abortion issue given the vacancy was going to be filled by Donald J. Trump with Amy Coney Barrett. They’re not going to hardcore torch her corpse over this, but don’t be shocked if a few pieces about how this woman’s refusal to retire is at fault for this Supreme Court decision. It’s the reason why the Left has turned against her. The legislative process is where this issue should be decided as abortion is not mentioned in the Constitution. Pass a law.

Wade, defend a balanced court, get RBG to step down, etc. One user said, "This day brought to you by Ruth Bader Ginsburg's narcissistic refusal to retire. Wade, defend a balanced court, get RBG to step down, etc. And yet, what she has helped to give us is a court that for a long, long time is going to be undoing the equality rulings that she was part of. Democrats have their share of blame today." Anthony Kennedy doesn't. There is no Gorsuch. There is no Kavanaugh. There is no Coney Barrett. These are the consequences of ONE election." Back in 2012, people had started asking for her retirement which would indeed result in a safe replacement to be installed before the 2012 elections. She figured out a way to get women to be part of the constitution. “Help undo our failures!” is not a compelling rallying cry." However, she died in September 2020, and Trump saw this as an opportunity to nominate conservative Justice Amy Coney Barrett. According to some social media users, RBG's passing away at the age of 87 allowed Trump to bring in someone who shared his conservative views. SCOTUS overruled Roe vs Wade landmark judgment that legalized abortion in the United States and that has led to a worldwide debate. Of course, the citizens are once again divided with some in favor of the decision and some against it.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg's Iconic Speech For Abortion Rights ... (News18)

Late US Supreme Court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg's legacy is being questioned on social media after the overturning of Roe vs Wade.

When government controls that decision for her, she’s being treated as less than a fully adult human," Ginsburg can be heard saying during her Supreme Court confirmation hearing, in a video shared by The Recount. The landmark court decision being overturned by the court will probably result in abortion restrictions in around half of US states. Justice Amy Coney Barrett, the conservative replacement for Ginsburg appointed by Trump, was one of the six justices who ruled in favour of overturning Roe vs Wade. Even without her, the outcome likely would have been the same, only by a smaller margin.
