Dejounte Murray Comments On The Trade Rumors Surrounding Him (The Cold Wire)

Dejounte Murray of the San Antonio Spurs has had an impressive career so far - especially this last season when he averaged 21.1 points, 8.3.

Adding Murray to their lineup could work wonders for the Hawks, taking pressure off Young and adding more depth on both ends of the court. The Spurs have been stuck in a rut for a few seasons now but the Hawks’ rocky year was a bit of surprise, especially since they were experiencing a Cinderella story during the 2021 playoffs. Murray has been seen as a team leader for the Spurs, especially during this last season, while Collins was a pivotal part of the Hawks’ impressive postseason run back in 2021.

Report: Cavs have had conversations with Spurs on trade for ... (Cavaliers Nation)

The Cleveland Cavaliers will spend this summer trying to make moves that will put them in a great position to qualify for the playoffs this season.

If the Cavs manage to land Murray, it stands to reason that Sexton’s time in Cleveland would be over. Murray is one of the more talented young guards in the NBA and would immediately give the Cavs yet another fantastic player. The Cavs are apparently interested in Dejounte Murray and have been for quite some time.

Reports: Spurs, Hawks talking Dejounte Murray for John Collins trade (NBC Sports)

The Atlanta Hawks and San Antonio Spurs are at least discussing a Dejounte Murray for John Collins trade, but it is not currently close.

Murray is an All-Star currently on a four-year, $64 million extension of his rookie contract, but as Fischer notes that is up in 2024 and Murray would expect a max in his next deal. Collins has four years, $102 million remaining on his contract (the final season of that is a player option). Murray was second in Most Improved Player voting last season, and averaged 21.1 points, 9.2 assists, 8.3 rebounds and a league-best two steals a game.

Dejounte Murray trade rumors: Spurs could make draft-day deal as ... (Sporting News)

Dejounte Murray's name is being floated around in trade rumors. The Spurs may not trade him but there's a reason why he is rumored to be available.

That could position the Spurs for more future success than signing Murray to a lucrative, long-term contract. There’s a sense among NBA executives that San Antonio is still open to an extended rebuild, and Murray’s inevitably expensive contract extension is already looming on the horizon. As such, it may behoove the Spurs to rebuild. The answer to that is simple. As such, it's no surprise that the Spurs would want a hefty return for him. All were career-best marks, and he led the NBA in steals per game.

3 ideal Dejounte Murray trade scenarios from San Antonio Spurs (Sportsnaut)

The San Antonio Spurs appear willing to listen to trade offers for their All-Star Dejounte Murray. Here are three ideal trade scenarios for the point guard.

The Wizards need to get in Eastern Conference contention and having to pay said players top-flight money is a good problem to have. Sure, Beal and Murray have similar offensive tendencies in attacking the rim. Kristaps Porzingis drains perimeter jump shots and can put the ball on the floor. With Edwards and Towns in the fold, Murray will draw fewer double-teams and therefore be able to get more points in isolation. But that’s a problem to worry about later. Murray gives the Timberwolves a reputable facilitator and defender, strong suits that Russell has struggled to attain. Murray is 25, meaning he and Barrett, 22, aren’t near their prime. They need stability at point guard, and Murray would certainly do as such for head coach Wes Unseld Jr.’s rotation. Nonetheless, Murray’s well-rounded offensive arsenal gives the Knicks much-needed backcourt scoring and his defense fits in with their defensive-minded approach. Acquiring Murray gives the Timberwolves backcourt clarity. RJ Barrett has become a plausible two-way wing and Julius Randle is capable of being an electric scorer. Edwards finds success through being a physical scorer and Towns scores all over the floor.

NBA trade rumors: Status of Spurs-Hawks talks involving Dejounte ... (ClutchPoints)

The Atlanta Hawks and San Antonio Spurs are still in trade discussions revolving around Dejounte Murray and John Collins.

Are the Hawks willing to bolster their offer for Murray with the pair first-round picks that could placate the Spurs, though? Clearly, though, Atlanta at least holds some belief that San Antonio could lower its trade demand for Murray on draft night, perhaps finally finding Young the rangy, disruptive, athletic playmaking partner he needs to be at his best. It wouldn’t be at all surprising if the Spurs begin the 2022-23 season with Murray still in tow, either.
