That’s a look at even strength shot attempts through two games. “He’s been our backbone for years and years and years, and we owe it to him to have a better game next game. But the netminder has found a way to rebound after tough nights like Saturday. Vasilevskiy is 19-13-1 after games where he’s allowed at least five goals, and 4-2 in that situation during these playoffs. A 7-0 drubbing of the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 2 Saturday night has many believing this series is over. But the play now shifts away from Ball Arena in Denver, which could revitalize a Tampa Bay team that has been unable to deal with the speed of the Avalanche.

•2h ago I know it can sometimes ring a bit stale hearing how tough hockey players are for playing through the injuries they do, but that's going to go a long way on the Lightning bench, reinforcing their will to push through adversity -- and pain -- for each other. •2h ago •2h ago Staying out of the box remains imperative in this series. •2h ago •2h ago •2h ago Not his sharpest night, not the sharpest postseason after such a good year. Hate to see that after the postseason he's been having. Oh no, Kucherov to the room after that Toews crosscheck. But there are two major subplots coming out of this: Darcy Kuemper getting chased, setting up a potential goalie decision this week for Jared Bednar, and two injuries for the Lightning, in Nick Paul and Nikita Kucherov. Paul at least came back into the game, but seeing how he reacts tomorrow and Wednesday once the adrenaline wears off is going to be interesting.
Will Colorado take a commanding 3-0 lead in the Stanley Cup Final or will Tampa Bay cut the series deficit in half?
7:00 p.m.: Andre Burakovsky is not in Tampa Bay. Coach Jared Bednar considers him "day-to-day", in addition to Nazem Kadri. Burakovsky left Game 2 after getting hit in the hand with a puck. This is all close of a must-win as you can get for the Lightning. 7:40 p.m.: No Point on the ice for warmups. Lightning allow Mikko Rantanen to walk in and Vasilevskiy can't swallow up the puck, leaving it open in the crease for Landeskog to knock in. The Lightning have their first lead of the series. 8:28 p.m.: Avs strike first exactly five minutes into the game by guess who, Valeri Nichushkin. However the play is under review for offsides. Compher is whistled for interference after shoving down Stamkos in the slot. 8:44 p.m.: GOAL! Avs strike on the power play as it's Gabriel Landeskog cleaning up a rebound in front. 9:50 p.m.: GOAL! What a move by Pat Maroon. Right out of the box, it's a give and go with Kucherov before he cuts to the net, goes to the backhand and roofs it. However, it's fair to say the Avalanche are a much superior team to the Rangers and winning four games out of five is no easy task. While it's not technically a "must-win", a loss tonight puts them down 0-3 in the series. Colorado holds a 2-0 lead in the series.

I think the Avs are destined to win the series — it’s their time — so I won’t predict the Bolts will win tonight. Turn on the AC (90 minutes to puck drop). Hot and humid here in the Land of Lightning. And storms a plenty. Lightning come out with energy (6:25 p.m.): Tampa Bay has the first three shots and the last two came on a barrage in front of Avs goalie Darcy Kuemper, who was sharp. — Mike Chambers First one was a stuff-in off a rebound from Rantanen. — Mike Chambers Paul heads to locker room (7:06 p.m.): Lightning forward Nick Paul appeared to be in bad shape after suffering a leg injury late in the first period. Sean Keeler, sports columnist: Mikko, Mikko, Mikko. The Lightning (and Tampa fans) are feeling frisky again after a (correct) replay review took an early Avs goal off the board and a Rantanen brain-camp late in the period let Ondrej Palat free for the goal that gave the hosts a 2-1 cushion. Paul returns, and scores (7:29 p.m.): Roughly a half hour after going to the locker room early with an apparent leg injury, Nick Paul found the back of the net after a breakdown from the Avs in their defensive zone early in the second period.Josh Manson reversed the puck to the wrong player, with Paul one-timing the centering pass that followed. Ryan O’Halloran, sports reporter: The Avalanche will leave the arena tonight with a series lead in this Cup Final, but questions at goalie after coach Jared Bednar saw enough of Darcy Kuemper and pulled him from the game after Tampa Bay took a 5-2 lead. And Kuemper didn’t protect his right post enough on the fifth goal — Pat Maroon’s backhander in tight. Avs put pressure on, get nothing in return (8:42 p.m.): The Avalanche has absolutely dominated the opening minutes of the third period, but the score remains 6-2.
