Jon Snow Is Back With His Own <em>Game of Thrones</em ... (menshealth.com)

HBO is reportedly bringing Kit Harington back as Jon Snow for his own 'Game of Thrones' spinoff, and there are a lot of questions that need to be answered.

What has been figured out so far about this Jon Snow sequel is Harington returning to his Emmy Award-nominated role. Your best bet is to check back in here from time to time, as we'll be keeping a close eye on any clues and announcements regarding when our old friend Jon Snow is planning to make his return. But, there's a bit we can infer from how the original Game of Thrones season ended. The live-action prequel 10,000 Ships will be based around warrior-queen Princess Nymeria and set 1,000 years before the events of Game of Thrones when Nymeria led to Dorne in the south of Westeros. There's also the upcoming 9 Voyages series about Lord Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint), a character who never appeared in the original Game of Thrones series and won't make his GoT debut until House of Dragon. HBO also has three animated spinoff series in the works, which Martin has publicly stated he's very much involved in. But, with Harington attached to return, it's time we prepare our minds, bodies, and souls for another emotional roller coaster that only Game of Thrones and HBO can put us through. Last night, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed HBO is developing a spinoff sequel series based around Kit Harington's Jon Snow character, with Harington attached to reprise his heralded role as the heartthrob (spoiler alert!) Stark/Targaryen.

Continuing his story is a significant and risky move. Jon Snow, a heroic outcast who discovered he was a potential heir to the Iron Throne, was last seen exiled and joining the remaining Free Folk to resettle the free lands north of the Wall. It’s a live-action series, and Kit Harington is attached to reprise the role that made him famous.

The network, it seems, hopes to mine the universe for a steady stream of stories similar to the way Disney+ has approached the Star Wars and Marvel properties — though given Thrones' ending was wildly divisive, it's an open question how eager audiences will be to return. No further details about the sequel series' plot were revealed. HBO already has several Game of Thrones spinoffs in the works, including House of the Dragon, a prequel set about 200 years in the past.

This sequel series is far from the only Game of Thrones spin-off in the works. In Game of Thrones season 8, Jon Snow finally learned that he is actually Aegon Targaryen, and so the true heir to the Iron Throne. Despite his birth right, Jon never had any interest in becoming king. House of the Dragon lands this August 21.

Jon Snow Will Get His Own 'Game Of Thrones' Sequel Series (myq105.com)

The King of the North will return to our screens, as HBO has entered into early development on its first sequel series since Game of Thrones.

This development news means there are now seven Game of Thrones projects in the works in addition to the upcoming House of the Dragon prequel series, which debuts August 21. House of the Dragon is set 200 years before the events in Game of Thrones, telling the story of a civil war within House Targaryen. HBO’s other live-action prequels in various stages of development are 10,000 Ships (Princess Nymeria), 9 Voyages (aka The Sea Snake) and Dunk and Egg. There are also three animated prequel projects, including The Golden Empire, which is set in the China-inspired land of Yi Ti. The King of the North will return to our screens, as HBO has entered into early development on its first sequel series since Game of Thrones ended in 2019.

Game of Thrones Sequel: HBO Max Responds to Reports With ... (Comicbook.com)

HBO Max has shared a hilarious response to the news that a Game of Thrones spinoff is in the works starring Kit Harington as Jon Snow.

Ironically, it was only two years ago that Kit Harington claimed he never wanted to play a role like Jon Snow again. Also, if Kit Harington were to make a return, it opens the door for other Game of Thrones actors to make a comeback like Sophie Turner as Sansa Stark and Maisie Williams as Arya Star. Sharing a photo of Jon Snow from the hit HBO series, HBO Max tweeted, "I know nothing."

'Game of Thrones' Sequel Should Be About Arya, Not Jon (We Got This Covered)

After HBO announced a 'Game of Thrones' sequel spinoff centering around Jon Snow, fans think Arya should get one, too.

Still, we can’t help but wonder if a series revolving around Arya and his badass adventures as an unstoppable assassin would’ve been the better alternative here. But hey, at least Arya is going somewhere and exploring new landscapes. When you think about it, out of all the Game of Thrones characters that made it out of the final season alive, Arya Stark’s story was the only one worth continuing.

Kit Harington May Return as Jon Snow in a 'Game of Thrones ... (Vanity Fair)

Reportedly set after the events of that divisive finale, it's unclear if fellow surviving stars Sophie Turner or Maisie Williams would reprise their roles.

So far, the only offshoot with an official release date is House of the Dragon, which follows a civil war within House Targaryen roughly 200 years before the events of Thrones. That show will bow on HBO on August 21. Harington, who was twice nominated for best supporting actor Emmys as Jon Snow, hasn’t publicly commented on a sequel series—but the project invites the possibility that other characters will return as well. In the show’s divisive series finale, Snow learns that his true identity is Aegon Targaryen, an heir to the Iron Throne, after killing Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys. He’s then exiled from Westeros, sent off North of the Wall with the Wildlings to start a new chapter.

Game of Thrones: HBO Has Perfect Response to Jon Snow Sequel ... (Screen Rant)

HBO Max quotes Ygritte in its hilarious response to recent reports that HBO has a Game of Thrones sequel focused on Jon Snow in development.

A show focused on Harrington would also allow for the return of everyone else who survived the Mad Queen, including Sophie Turner's Sansa Stark, Maisie Williams' Arya Stark, Gwendoline Christie's Brienne of Tarth, John Bradley's Samwell Tarly, and Peter Dinklage's Tyrion Lannister. The latter of which did say "a few years as Hand of the King would want to make anyone p-ss off the edge of the world." On top of that, Harrington signaled himself done with Westeros in the past. The post was accompanied by a reference to the iconic line frequently uttered by Rose Leslie's Ygritte (before and after Olly put an arrow through her), "You know nothing Jon Snow." Naturally, HBO is here to say, "I know nothing." HBO Max has shared the perfect response to all those reports about a Game of Thrones sequel series following Kit Harrington's Jon Snow. Based on George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire, Game of Thrones aired on HBO from 2011 to 2019. The official Twitter account for HBO Max recently shared a picture of Harrington's character for season 1. The series' final shot saw Jon and Tormund Giantsbane (Kristofer Hivju) riding north beyond the Wall with the Wildings.

'Game of Thrones' Jon Snow Sequel Series Nobody Asked for in ... (Decider)

HBO is developing a Game of Thrones sequel series about Jon Snow, starring Kit Harington. Here's what we know.

Or if anyone has interrupted George R.R. Martin’s schedule of blogging about TV shows he’s not involved in and giving extensive, long interviews about how people should leave him alone about writing the next book in the series because he’s so busy writing, to let him know this is happening. On the other hand, despite the poor feelings from the end of Thrones, launching a direct sequel makes a good deal of business sense. This is, of course, surprising on a number of levels, though HBO reversing position on the sequel is the least of them.
