Much of Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio could see severe weather Thursday evening, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather service also issued a tornado watch for much of the rest of the state, from Somerset and Cambria counties to as far east as the northeast border with New Jersey, as well as much of upstate New York. That watch is in effect until 11 p.m. Thursday. The weather service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the western third of Pennsylvania, the eastern two-thirds of Ohio and West Virginia’s northern panhandle through 9 p.m. Thursday. Much of Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio could see severe weather Thursday evening, according to the National Weather Service.

Widely scattered storms brought some severe weather to parts of Northeast Ohio for a few hours this afternoon.

The slight risk includes Cleveland, Wooster, Mansfield, Akron, Canton, Mentor, New Philly and Ashtabula. There is an even greater threat of severe weather farther to the east in Pennsylvania. The area in green is a marginal risk for severe weather and is a level 1/5 and includes Lorain, Oberlin, Norwalk and Shelby. This shows there is a better chance to experience severe weather to the east of Cleveland on Thursday. WATCHING CLOSELY: The NWS and SPC are considering a severe thunderstorm watch across the viewing area in NE Ohio. Isolated to widely scattered storms may develop this afternoon and a few could become strong or severe. Want the latest Power of 5 weather team updates wherever you go? Before that happens though, widely scattered storms moved across the area for a few hours this afternoon, with some bringing severe storm damage to parts of Geauga County. There is a slight risk posted for about half of the area, mainly along and to the east of I-71. This is a 2/5 risk level and means that a few severe storms are possible in the yellow area. It has been hot, humid and dry for most of the day.

The city says signs of heat exhaustion include "heavy sweating, weakness, cold, pale and clammy skin; weak pulse, fainting and vomiting. There is still heat warning in effect though. During a heat warning, the city opens up sites where people can cool down.

With the humidity in the air, it felt more like 90s. Temperatures crested in the mid- and upper 80s today.
