Due to this, Luca de la Torre and the rest of the US midfield will have to put in more effort to play. He bossed the midfield and covered for the poor game of McKennie. Of course, one game this impressive versus Grenada will not be talked about in the same sense as others, due to the strength of the opposition, but it is still worth mentioning that the US has a real gem in this Heracles player. Ferreira now has seven goals in 12 matches for the USMNT and while most came here, it is still a great tally for such a young player. The USMNT will be playing El Salvador in the fourth match of the CONCACAF Nations League A, Group D. After winning against Grenada, the USA squad will be looking to continue their winning ways in this competition. Ferreira still deserves a ton of praise for his contribution versus Grenada. Of course, the opponent was not as good, but four goals in a single match, a competitive one at that, is a great achievement. All of the mentioned players are under the age of 24 and if we include 24-year-old players, it would be most of the squad for the US. This bodes well for the future of the USMNT, as they look to re-establish the consistency of success.

We're taking a look at everything you need to know ahead of the USMNT's CONCACAF Nations League match against El Salvador on Tuesday.

They were impressive against Grenada without those players as it turned into the Jesus Ferreira show, but El Salvador is a tougher opponent and the Americans will hope to turn in a similar result. The Americans will be missing a whole group of players including Gio Reyna (hamstring), Miles Robinson (Achilles), Djordje Mihailovic (ankle), and Sergino Dest (hamstring) for this contest. The USMNT has won twice in El Salvador while their most recent match on the road at Estado Cuscatlan ended in a scoreless draw during FIFA World Cup Qualifying back in September 2021. The United States men's national tam will look to build off of their strong performance in a 5-0 victory over Grenada in a tougher Nations League match when ...

The pitch at the Estadio Cuscatlan has been dealing with a ton of rain, it's likely going to shower during the game, and the pitch is going to be an absolute mess. On the road in Concacaf is never easy, so it won't be a cake walk for either. It's the final game of a critical four match window that has seen the United States maintain an undefeated record while scoring eight goals and allowing zero across them. He did a good job following things up to keep possession but the first goal scored is going to be an ugly one. This is a game they can win if they keep it ugly, but on paper the United States should be able to get the victory. They've had good reads on the USA's crosses and have had the best attacking chance of the game so far. The pitch looks unplayable, the U.S. jerseys are stained with mud, and you cannot play a simple ball on the ground. This is the first goal that the United States have allowed during this international break. Conditions aside, they're bringing the Concacaf flying into tackles and ensuring that the United States aren't able to get comfortable in the attack. Aaron Long deals with the danger but it wouldn't be surprising to see Cannon withdrawn at the half. The pitch is unplayable, and the sloppiness will continue in the second half, no doubt about it. As Gregg Berhalter continues to get looks at the entire roster ahead of the World Cup, Ethan Horvath will get the start in goal but some players will need to treat this as their last chance to impress him before going on summer break.

Morris Rescues USMNT With Late Equalizer on Wild Nations ... (Sports Illustrated)

Jordan Morris's equalizer seconds into stoppage time salvaged a 1–1 draw in a Concacaf Nations League group match vs. El Salvador in which both sides wound up ...

Musah was at the center of the action again, running a give-and-go with Ferreira and surging in behind El Salvador’s last line of defense. Morris, in off the bench, got his head to service from another sub, Luca de la Torre, and he headed in the equalizer to make it 1–1. First, he got to a ball down the right sideline before it could go out, charged forward and looked to play Brenden Aaronson in on goal only to have a last-ditch block put the ball out for the corner. The U.S. was reduced to 10 men with just over 20 minutes to go. Perhaps he was anticipating bend on the ball, or perhaps he thought right back Reggie Cannon had the block covered, but instead, Larín’s shot pierced the back of the net to make it 1–0 to the hosts. It fell at the doorstep, but Bonilla wasn’t able to connect on his volley, perhaps expecting a bounce that never came, and Cameron Carter-Vickers ultimately cleared the danger. Pulisic’s attempt was easily cleared, but he regained possession, impressively stayed in play after getting to the end line and cutting a ball back, which Weah wound up wildly volleying wide of the mark from 20 yards. Wright stepped in for Jesús Ferreira, whose four-goal game against Grenada helped his individual case and led the U.S. to its first three points in the secondary Concacaf competition. Gregg Berhalter’s side returned to the Cuscátlan, where it played to a 0–0 draw last September, for the game that capped the U.S.’s two-week, four-match gathering and whose chief purposes were building more toward the fall in Qatar and collecting more data points on particular players, whose roles going forward are still to be decided. On that set piece, Wright got his head to Tyler Adams’ service, keeping it alive for Yunus Musah, whose blast was blocked before it could hit the target. The U.S. men’s national team closed its penultimate camp before the World Cup at the place where its qualifying campaign for Qatar 2022 began. El Salvador in which both sides wound up reduced to 10 men.

El Salvador vs. USMNT score, ratings: Jordan Morris rescues late ... (CBSSports.com)

Jordan Morris came off the bench and rescued a point for the United States men's national team in a 1-1 draw at El Salvador on Tuesday in Concacaf Nations ...

He did a good job following things up to keep possession but the first goal scored is going to be an ugly one. On the road in Concacaf is never easy, so it won't be a cake walk for either. Took a similar amount of touches to Wright but it's what he did without the ball that made a difference both pressing and opening attacking lanes for the United States. The pitch looks unplayable, the U.S. jerseys are stained with mud, and you cannot play a simple ball on the ground. Aaron Long deals with the danger but it wouldn't be surprising to see Cannon withdrawn at the half. While it's true that his foot was high, it's also important to look at the circumstances to explain why his slide was erratic in those conditions. Pulisic created a team high two chances in the match which says all that you need to know about the game that happened. Considering that the match was played in terrible conditions, the ratings for Tuesday's match should be taken with a grain of salt. It'll be interesting to see how Berhalter tinkers with things with a healthy Weston McKennie, but Adams was effective dropping into a back three when the team went down to 10 men. No VAR meant that it couldn't be reviewed, putting the U.S. in a tough spot that they managed to climb out of. Luca de la Torre positioned himself well after a failed cross to whip in a ball right into the heart of the box, and Morris didn't waste it. The Comunicaciones left back went for goal from a narrow angle, and nobody saw it coming, including goalkeeper Ethan Horvath, who was left stunned and frozen.

Jordan Morris' stoppage-time goal gives U.S. men's soccer team 1-1 ... (The Philadelphia Inquirer)

El Salvador was close to ending a 30-year, 19-game winless streak against the U.S. when Morris entered in the 80th minute of the CONCACAF Nations League ...

The U.S. had entered with 19 wins, one loss and six draws against El Salvador, the lone defeat at Estadio Cuscatlán in an exhibition on Feb. 19, 1992. Ferreira, coming off a four-goal night against Grenada. replaced Wright at the start of the second half and rounded González in the 51st. Horvath, competing for three roster spots along with Matt Turner, Zack Steffen and Sean Johnson, made his eighth international appearance and first in a year. Just two warmups remain for the Americans, exhibitions in Europe on Sept. 23 and 27, likely against Asian opponents. American winger Paul Arriola was ejected in the 70th, nine minutes after entering, when he made a sliding tackle that caught Larín on a shin and flipped him. Among the players on the bubble for Cup roster spot, Morris leapt over Larin to head Luca de la Torre's cross past goalkeeper Mario González seconds into six minutes of stoppage time.

Jordan Morris' Late Equalizer Saves USA Draw vs. El Salvador in ... (Bleacher Report)

Not much went well for the United States men's national team at the CONCACAF Nations League on Tuesday night. On a rainy night and a mud.

It was a gutty draw to find in the end after it appeared the game had slipped out of their grasp. My kingdom for a #USMNT GK who is starting every week. Clear handball in the penalty area by El Salvador is missed by the referee. In Wright's defense, a messy field and a chippy contest probably didn't give him a fair chance to make an impression. Looked to be a yellow, but ref says otherwise and now the Americans are down a goal and down a man.

1-0 El Salvador, 71st minute. The pitch was a mess. The officiating was spotty. It truly was the full CONCACAF experience. This is peak CONCACAF. 100% a shot from Larín… a beautiful strike too. That's why you play this game like a World Cup game. Let this team figure things out..

USMNT showed mentality needed for World Cup to salvage draw on ... (ESPN)

The United States could have stayed stuck in the mud as it fell behind to El Salvador, but the way it responded is a promising sign for Qatar.

"Although we didn't get the win, I think it's a good takeaway and a good end to the June camp. If there was a man of the match, we'd probably give it to him." If there's a takeaway for what Tuesday's game means for the World Cup, it must be about the team's mentality. It was an unlucky night for him tonight, for sure." "It doesn't rule him out for anything in the future. It's not nice for the group. For Wright, the game was supposed to be his big audition. It's not nice for the player. "We saw the conditions, saw how it was gradually getting worse and knew at game time it wasn't going to be good," USMNT coach Gregg Berhalter said. "We thought after the warm-up that it would best suit us to play long," midfielder Tyler Adams said. It wasn't exactly an ideal scenario for a team fully focused on preparing for a tournament in Qatar, where the annual average precipitation is roughly 3 inches. Even light jogging left mud tracks in the previously undisturbed grass, and that was before the rain really started to come down.

El Salvador vs. United States - Football Match Report - June 14 ... (ESPN)

Get a report of the El Salvador vs. United States 2022-23 CONCACAF Nations League, League A football match.

The Americans plan exhibitions in Europe on Sept. 23 and 27, likely against Asian opponents. The U.S. opens the World Cup in Qatar against Wales on Nov. 21, faces England in a Black Friday matchup four days later and finishes the first round against Iran on Nov. 29. Arriola's night didn't last long, though, as the FC Dallas attacker was shown a straight red card for a hard, sliding challenge on Larin right in front of the referee that put the U.S. down to 10 players. Berhalter brought on Weston McKennie for Aaronson and Jesus Ferreira, who scored four goals in the Americans' previous match against Grenada, for Wright to start the second half. Both teams created chances in the first half, but it was El Salvador that took the lead into halftime when Horvath was caught off his line in the 35th minute and Alexander Larin smashed a pinpoint shot from the left flank past the U.S. keeper to give the home side a 1-0 lead. Jordan Morris came off the bench to score as the United States came from behind to draw 1-1 with El Salvador in the CONCACAF Nations League on a muddy, waterlogged pitch Tuesday night at the Estadio Cuscatlan in San Salvador.
