Dangerous storms have brought tornado warnings and watches across parts of the Chicago area during the afternoon rush hour Monday.
Barrington Hills, East Dundee, Hoffman Estates and Bartlett are all in the storm's path. A tornado warning was issued for portions of Kane and Cook counties until 6:45 p.m. A separate tornado warning was issued for portions of cook and DuPage counties until 7:15 p.m. Be sure to keep track of what's happening in your area and take cover if the storms move into your area. A severe thunderstorm watch was issued for Jasper and Newton counties in Indiana and Kenosha County in Wisconsin until 9 p.m. CT. A tornado warning was issued for portions of Cook and DuPage counties until 7:15 p.m. A separate tornado warning was issued for southeastern Cook County until 7:45 p.m. A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for portions of Cook, Kane, Lake and McHenry counties until 7 p.m. A tornado watch was issued for nearly the entire Chicago area until 11 p.m., which includes DeKalb, Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Lake, McHenry and Will counties in Illinois, as well as Jasper, Lake, Newton and Porter counties in Indiana. Tornado Warning Issued for Parts of Cook and Kane Counties; Most of Area Under Tornado Watch The Federal Aviation has issued a ground stop at O'Hare International Airport due to severe weather and a tornado warning in the area. The watch remains in effect until 11 p.m. CT for Jasper, Lake, Newton and Porter counties in northwest Indiana. A severe thunderstorm warning was also issued for LaPorte County until 8:45 p.m. CT. Tornado Warning Issued for Southeastern Cook County Until 7:45 p.m. Tornado Warning Issued for Porter, Lake Counties in Northwest Indiana Until 8:15 p.m.
As the severe weather leaves, extreme heat will follow. Temperatures in the high 90s will hit Chicago on Tuesday and Wednesday.

A Weather Alert is in effect due to dangerous heat in the forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon. A daily record high is expected on Wednesday with a high of 97° in Chicago. Lows will be warm in the low 70s. For tonight, an isolated shower or thunderstorm is possible through the late evening. A Heat Advisory is in effect for the area through Wednesday evening. Meantime, Tuesday's high could flirt with 100 degrees, with a forecast temp of 98.
A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Streamwood at 6:13 p.m. and was moving southeast at 30 mph, the weather service said.
