Finau knocked in a 40-footer for birdie on the last to finish at 17 under. Justin Rose made a run at a sub-par 60 round and was actually 11 under through 15 holes and three pars away from a 59. And he shot 29 over the front nine – the first 29 on either the front or back nine in his career. He finished at 15 under. In 2019, McIlroy closed with a 61 to win the Canadian Open by seven shots. It was the first time in 15 attempts that he defended a title.

McIlroy continues to let it rip when it comes to discussing the Saudi-backed LIV Golf series and the man behind it all.

Making it even sweeter is the fact that McIlroy's 21 victories have come in a shorter timeframe, too, albeit a slightly shorter one. Of much more importance to McIlroy, though, was the fact it put him one win ahead of a certain Australian legend who may or may not be behind the LIV Golf series. If you recall, McIlroy called the series "dead in the water" back in February, which it appeared to be at the time considering Dustin Johnson, among others, had seemingly backed out at the last minute.
