Geography: Small slivers of northern Tulare and southern Merced counties and large sections of Fresno and Madera counties. "I’m not a career politician and didn’t have special interests bankrolling my campaign. Sigala was appointed Mayor in 2018 and served a two-year term. Although Mathis is the incumbent, the district number and boundaries have changed this year. Sigala, a Democrat, said the district's new boundaries make it more competitive. Geography: City of Dinuba, a small part of Visalia and most of Tulare, and large parts of southern Tulare County and Kern County, including Bakersfield. Redistricting changed the borders significantly, but much of the new district includes what is currently Senate District 14. "I'm confident," Mathis said Tuesday night, as his lead held with 80% of precincts partially reporting. People across the state, frankly, are pissed off about the gas tax. Geography: Most of Visalia and the northern tip of Tulare. Also includes a large swath of eastern Tulare County, including Three Rivers and large parts of Kern County as far south as Edwards Air Force Base. Before the redistricting that goes into effect this year, much of this was in the 16th District. Geography: Most of Tulare, a small part of Visalia and southern Tulare County, and most of Kings County, including the cities of Hanford and Lemoore. "Central Valley families have had enough of Sacramento’s failed policies, including the mismanagement of our water resources, record inflation, an intractable homelessness crisis, and rampant crime," Shephard said. They're pissed off about inflation.

San Joaquin County election results: Josh Harder, Tom Patti appear ... (Stockton Record)

The top-two vote getters from the 8 congressional candidates will move on to November's general election and potentially represent San Joaquin County.

If elected in the top two this primary, he would be in line to potentially course into his third congressional term. These votes are a fragment of the total ballots cast for this election. Sim Shoemaker followed in third with 10.19% of the vote. The San Joaquin County Registrar of Voters published the first batch of vote results updates at 8:30 p.m. Out of 385,040 registered voters, 14,124 ballots were processed. However, District 9 includes parts of Contra Costa and Stanislaus counties. The vote result percentage for Harder previously tracked in the low forties, as reported last night. Harpreet Singh Chima, Jonathan Madison, Khalid Jeffrey Jafri, Karena Apple Feng and Mark T. Andrews continue to follow the top three contenders. Tom Patti and Josh Harder thanked District 9 voters on Wednesday morning given their lead in the vote results presented so far. Patti follows in second with 27.66% countywide and 28.9% districtwide. “I'm truly honored and humbled by the support we’ve received from the voters in our community where I grew up,” Patti said. Yet, Congressional District 9 also includes parts of Contra Costa and Stanislaus counties. “As a new dad, I know how rising costs are crushing our families and we desperately need more commonsense leaders to actually get things done,” Harder said.

O'Toole blames China for Conservative election results (Politico)

We lost eight or nine seats to foreign interference,” former leader says during leadership postmortem.

“But that didn’t happen and I wasn’t willing to backtrack on some of the things I thought we were making progress on.” His legislation, which didn’t pass, proposed to create a registry of “individuals acting on behalf of a foreign principal.” For example, he said the Conservatives improved their results in 2021 across the province of Ontario by about 2 percent compared to the 2019 election. “Moreover, we find Canadian-Chinese issues were not central to the campaign nor were they top of mind for voters.” O’Toole’s comment to Erskine-Smith came during discussion of his ouster. “Our democracy is under threat by bad actors, both foreign and domestic,” she said in an email. Under his guidance in the 2021 election, the Conservatives maintained their position as the main opposition party to Trudeau’s Liberals, but prevented the prime minister from recapturing a majority hold on the House of Commons. Robert Batherson, the Conservative Party’s president, told POLITICO that the subject of foreign interference was discussed in many media reports after the election. Chiu was targeted by a misinformation campaign on social media, including the Chinese-language WeChat, in the leadup to the election over a bill he proposed earlier in the year to tackle foreign influence in Canadian elections. He said there were many examples of potential interference from 2021 — but the “flashpoint” involved Vancouver-area Conservative candidate Kenny Chiu, who lost in his bid for reelection. “We find no clear evidence that there was a concerted effort by the Chinese state to interfere in the election,” the report said. “The communist leadership in Beijing did interfere in the last federal election by spreading disinformation through proxies on Chinese-language social media platforms that contributed to the defeat of a number of Conservative MPs,” Chong said.
