The second half of Season 9 of “Chrisley Knows Best” is still scheduled to air starting June 23. The couple used money from loans for “luxury cars, designer clothes, real estate, and travel,” the Department of Justice said, even as they also filed bankruptcy and walked away from more than $20 million in loans. NBC Universal announced last month that “Chrisley Knows Best” had been renewed for a 10th season. They obtained loans, for example, by using a bank statement saying they had $4 million at Merrill Lynch when they did not even have an account with the bank, the indictment said. U.S. Judge Eleanor L. Ross of the Northern District of Georgia set sentencing for Oct. 6. “An appeal is planned.”

Chrisleys Are Convicted Of Tax Evasion & Bank Fraud, Don't Know ... (Forbes)

Todd and Julie Chrisley were indicted in August 2019 and a new indictment was filed in February of this year.

The jury believed prosecutors that the Chrisleys tried to hide their money from the IRS. Saying different things to your bank and to the IRS can be a major mistake. But in the indictments and at trial, the feds painted a very different picture, alleging that the Chrisleys and their accountant tried to obstruct IRS collection efforts, hide income, lied about their taxes, and in the accountant’s case, and even lied to the FBI and the IRS. Many tax cases settle with a plea deal on lesser charges, even criminal tax cases. Prosecutors convinced the jury that the stars of “Chrisley Knows Best” submitted false documents to banks to get loans and failed to pay federal income taxes for multiple years.
