A new medications app will let users track, manage and understand the medications people take and notifies users when to take them. And the software will offer more personalized wallpapers for the lock screen and the ability to shuffle options throughout the day. In addition, enhanced sleep tracking will monitor when a user goes in and out of light and deep sleep. And a tool called Passkeys is intended to replace passwords by using Touch ID or Face ID to authenticate across apps and devices. Meanwhile, iOS users in the US will be able to spread payments over 8 weeks on Apple Pay, similar to a "buy now, pay later" service. Apple also teased several new options to better customize the lock screen and improve the notifications experience.

Like the new MacBook Air, the 13-inch MacBook Pro is also getting an M2 upgrade. The new Pay Later feature is coming to Apple Pay with iOS 16. Apple says the new M2 chip delivers an 18 percent performance upgrade when compared to the M1. Apple announced a major update to CarPlay that allows for deeper integration with your vehicle. Apple is also introducing the ability to mark a message as unread so you can easily find it later. Apple is also pushing updates to notifications and its Focus feature.

iOS 16 made its debut at Apple's annual WWDC 2022, and we got a peek at a new iMessage, lock screen changes, and tons more.

The Photos experience is adding a new Shared iCloud capability, allowing up to six users to directly upload photos and videos to a shared iCloud with collaborators. Apple worked with several non-profit organizations that support victims of domestic abuse to develop the new Safety Check feature, which will allow users to quickly revoke access to their devices and data when in dangerous situations. Within Apple News, users will be able to follow specific teams and leagues to get their most important sports updates integrated seamlessly into their news feeds. With iOS 16, Maps will be coming to 11 new countries, support more detailed landscapes, increase navigation features, and let users add up to 15 stops to a trip when planning in advance. Apple Wallet is adding more support for verified IDs to be stored in the Wallet, letting you use a stored ID in apps requiring you to upload identification. SharePlay will also be coming to iMessage, letting users watch synced content like movies or songs, share playback controls, and chat in iMessage all at the same time.

A series of new tools are coming to the iOS Mail app, such as email scheduling and the ability to cancel outbound messages before they get to the recipient. The official version of iOS 16 is expected to launch alongside the next iPhone series in fall 2022. iOS 16 sees the addition of cycling paths and real-time transit fares that are easier to view, too. Designed to recognize humans, animals, and even statues, the feature is a fast and simple way to cut and paste images for sharing. And for greater control, you can pick and choose the particular images that are being shared with fellow members. Along with the bounty of existing family-sharing features on iOS, iCloud shared libraries lets group members upload, distribute, and sync photos and videos in shared albums. There are also new Dictation features, including the ability to grammatically correct and automatically punctuate your voice inputs, making it easier than ever to reply to text messages vocally. In tandem with the new lock screen widgets and wallpapers, Focus mode is also getting an update. In addition to expanding its catalog of compatible merchants and places of acceptance, Apple Pay now has a financing option called Pay Later. Pay Later allows users to split payments across four equal installments over six weeks and zero interest and fees. Notifications now appear on the bottom half of the iPhone display. Widgets like weather, timers, and task reminders can also be integrated within the lock screen. Apple today unveiled the newest version of its iPhone operating system, iOS 16.
