Happy Corbin (No Holds Barred): Moss returned to SmackDown on the brand's final show before Hell in a Cell. Having recovered from a brutal attack by Corbin, Moss gained retribution on his former teammate with help from a steel chair. Mustafa Ali: Ali has been desperately trying to get Theory in the ring for a title match, with Theory constantly evading and using his power as Vince McMahon's protege to put Ali at a disadvantage. Lynch won the rematch, making the Hell in a Cell match a triple threat. Omos & MVP: Like Rhodes and Rollins, Lashley and Omos wrestled at both WrestleMania and WrestleMania Backlash. They also met in a cage match on Raw, which Lashley won when Omos threw him into the cage, causing it to break and allowing Lashley to be the first man to get both feet on the floor. The other big match features two of the biggest superstars on the roster battling it out when Bobby Lashley faces Omos and MVP in a handicap match. Plus, the Raw women's title is on the line when champion Bianca Belair battles both Asuka and Becky Lynch in a triple threat match.
WWE Hell in a Cell 2022 is selling itself on name brand alone rather than a stacked card filled with must-see matches. Almost everything is a repeat of what ...
Lynch is far too big of a star to take another loss, and Belair hasn't held the title long enough to put her in danger of dropping it. Tossing them inside the cage is supposed to spice it up, even though this storyline doesn't warrant it. It's impossible to know what WWE has in mind, or if there even is a plan here. You can follow him on Styles, possibly inside Hell in a Cell, instead of a six-person mixed tag team match with no stakes. Flip a coin on this one. Once they beat the pulp out of each other, that should leave nothing left for them to do. The answer seems to be because WWE doesn't have anything for Roman Reigns, and this is the next highest-profile feud that could be justified as a main event. If that's the case, Moss winning makes the most sense. Since a victory for Ezekiel will keep the feud going—and WWE is keen to do that for every story—that's the safer bet for Sunday. It's a shame this isn't a variant of an I Quit match in which Owens has to beat Ezekiel so badly that he admits he's Elias. Maybe that is happening down the line. Nothing is on the line and there is no indication this feud is stopping anytime soon, so either man can win and it will have no bearing on the storyline.

- Bianca Belair (c) vs. Elsewhere on the card, Ezekiel (not Elias) faces Kevin Owens in a match that should, at the least, be humorous. ExpressVPN (opens in new tab) can access more than 3,000 servers spread out across 160 locations in 94 countries. Who knows how soon the WWE content will filter over. That includes shows like 30 Rock, The Voice, Battlestar Galactica, Law & Order: SVU and This Is Us. That said, don't expect this to last forever. Rhodes won the last two, and this time he's facing Rollins in the titular stipulation match. Bianca Belair is defending her title against both Becky Lynch and Asuka in a Triple Threat match. Still this show kinda feel like another afterthought PPV. Roman Reigns isn't defending either of his championships, and neither are The Usos (though they just beat Riddle and Nakamura on SmackDown). Cody Rhodes has been reported (by Dave Meltzer) to have a torn pec injury from weight training.

Bobby Lashley and Omos are still going at it for the third straight Premium Live Event. This time Omos gets MVP to team with. Asuka won’t take the belt off Belair just yet (if it is to happen). First Asuka qualified for this match by beating Becky Lynch. The next week Lynch qualified by beating Asuka and made it a triple threat. This Sunday will be the 14th incarnation of WWE Hell in a Cell. The WWE returns to Peacock this weekend for another Premium Live Event. WWE will have its annual Hell in a Cell event. These two will be sure to provide some great entertainment come Sunday in the cell.
This is, however, all about the culmination of Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins inside Hell in a Cell with at least the shadow of Bray Wyatt hanging over them.
As good as Rollins continues to be, Rhodes has bigger places to go and gets the clean sweep in a very physical affair. Rhodes and Rollins have given us one of the most compelling trilogies WWE has seen in a while – even with the American Nightmare winning the previous two matches. This show and the potential of a new opponent for Rhodes would be in the realm of possibility for Wyatt and The Fiend should he choose to return to WWE. This feud likely has to end with this match because what else can you do with it after Lashley and Omos have already fought in a cage? In order for Madcap to move forward as a more serious babyface he needs to finally put Corbin behind him and does so here in the only SmackDown match on the card. Hell in a Cell certainly has the potential to be and could bring the end of a number of feuds.

- At one point, Asuka hit a series of strikes and a German suplex on Lynch that looked incredible. Having only one match in the cell feels like a bit of a waste when that is the name of the event. It was already lowered around the ring during the pre-show, so it would have been perfect. It's hard to even find anything to be critical about with this one because it felt like everything worked exactly as it was supposed to. The most impressive part of this performance was how well-balanced it was. The first few minutes saw Belair had individual sequences with both opponents before we got to see all three women fighting at once.

Lynch then hit a Manhandle Slam on Asuka, but Belair came back in and chucked Lynch out of the ring before pinning Asuka for the win. As they battled, Lynch managed to plant Belair with a Manhandle Slam, but Asuka interrupted the pin for a great false finish. The match went up a gear when Asuka and Lynch were in the ring. One of Lynch's rollups got countered into an Asuka Lock, which the crowd initially bought as a possible finish. As Omos was preparing to give Lashley a double-arm Chokeslam, Cedric Alexander, who's had tension with MVP and Omos, jumped in the ring from the top rope. But it played into the following sequence: After they sent Asuka out of the ring, both Belair and Lynch were hopping around on one leg each, selling their respective ankles. The finishing sequence began when Lashley was in the ring with MVP. Lashley knocked Omos off the ring apron, then speared MVP. Lashley went for a pin, but Omos broke it up. Lashley then put MVP in the Hurt Lock for the win. None of it was remarkable in any way, except for one fun spot where Omos shoulder charged Lashley through the barricade on the outside. Omos beat Lashley down, then tagged MVP in for a quick bit of offense. Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins have wrestled two classics since Cody's return at WrestleMania. On Sunday they shoot for three as they clash in the main event of WWE Hell in a Cell 2022. Owens was fanatical, yelling at every chance "It's ELIAS!", and in general making a spectacle of himself.

Outside of the ring, Omos built a head of steam and bulldozed Lashley through the barricade. Omos and MVP (Handicap match): Omos tried to lure Lashley into a battle of strength vs. MVP only tagged himself in when Lashley was on the ropes and was quick to flee anytime Lashley built momentum. Bring it on; I want it all." That's the only way I can stay the best in the world. "I think I'm the best wrestler in the world," he continued. "We haven't crossed paths in the ring. Everything that I heard was that he was working tonight. He wound up getting replaced by Drew McIntyre, but was still at the arena and chased Rollins off after the match.
WWE Hell in a Cell featured a Cody Rhodes-Seth Rollins Hell in a Cell match, Bianca Belair vs. Asuka vs. Becky Lynch for the Raw Women's Title and more!
Cody got his hands on the sledgehammer, Rollins avoided Cody and back into the ring with Rollins hitting The Stomp for a two count. Cody with a kick to the leg, then he tripped up Rollins with the bullrope and Cody hit a superkick. Cody got a hold of the sledgehammer and hit Cody in the head with it! Rollins set up the ladder in the corner of the ring, Cody blocked a Powerbomb attempt and Cody hit the Cross Rhodes for a two count. Cody hit Rollins with the cowbell in the head for a two count. Corbin hit Moss with a chair shot to the ribs and a chair shot to the back. Rollins got his hands on the steel steps, Cody left the ring and Rollins hit Cody on the right arm with the steel steps. Theory with a necksnap against the top rope, Ali came back with a kick and a tilt-a-whirl into a DDT. That was great. Balor with a running dropkick to the knee, then a kick to the leg and Balor wrenched the leg against the ropes. Corbin went over the barricade into the crowd, Moss followed and Corbin hit a clothesline over the barricade. Priest tossed Balor out of the ring, Edge tagged in and Edge hit Balor with a running forearm to the face. Styles with a forearm to Edge, then Styles up top and he hit a Phenomenal Forearm on Edge for one…two…but Priest pulled Styles out of the ring to break up the pin.

The finishing sequence began when Lashley was in the ring with MVP. Lashley knocked Omos off the ring apron, then speared MVP. Lashley went for a pin, but Omos broke it up. Edge tried another Spear on Balor, but Balor countered it into an Inside Crade (which was sick). Balor landed a Slingblade on Edge and attempted another Coup de Grace, but Ripley stood in front of Edge, which prevented Balor from the move since the men can't touch the women in the match. From there it was an extended heat session, with the Judgement Day beating down Liv Morgan and then Finn Balor as the good guys built to a comeback. Rollins then kicked Rhodes in the gut and attempted a Pedigree, but Rhodes slipped out and landed a Pedigree of his own for another nearfall. It was largely built around a steel chair, which Corbin and Moss whaled on each other with, but didn't give the crowd what they were chanting for the whole match -- tables. Rollins hit Rhodes with a Superkick and then Powerbombed Rhodes through the table for a two count. Rhodes then brought out a cowbell, a weapon synonymous with his dad Dusty. The cowbell is in the middle of a long rope, with handles on either side for each person to strap around their wrist. Rollins attempted a Frog Splash through the table, but Cody rolled off and Rollins crashed through alone. Between the opener and the closer, though, was a lot of fluff.

Seth Rollins cosplayed as Dusty Rhodes in a hilarious moment. Hopefully he wasn’t giving these spots away so early into his return because he expects to be out for a while. WWE Hell in a Cell 2022 from Chicago, Ill. advertised a Hell in a Cell match between an injured Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins in Part 3 of their current feud. They even chanted “thank you Rollins.” As predicted earlier, it was indeed Rollins who went through the table. Fans quickly broke into a “we want tables” chant. Lashley later absconded a replica WWE Championship and celebrated with it. Bobby Lashley teased he was going for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship while posing on the turnbuckle. Tonight’s Hell in a Cell broadcast faced stiff competition from Game 2 of the NBA Finals. “I never ask why, I just wait for the rough part to end. At one point, MVP said “even though your name is Bobby I got brains like Heenan.” WWE may also be without Cody Rhodes moving forward, who suffered a partially torn pectoral muscle. Rhodes defeated Rollins in their previous two pay-per-view matches.

“The presumption everyone had was he’s working Hell in a Cell tonight and from there we’ll see. Top AEW star Bryan Danielson, whom Punk mentioned in his emotional promo, reportedly suffered an injury. AEW must crown an interim AEW world heavyweight champion in the process. The gimmick initially helped boost Raw viewership before numbers settled back to normal against stiff competition from the NHL playoffs. WWE’s Kayla Braxton reported Rhodes had torn his pec “completely off the bone,” though was still expected to compete. I don’t know that 100 percent [if] that is the injury.
Here are the winners and losers of the WWE PPV as it happens on Peacock.
Rollins and Rhodes were clearly keen to stick to their plans for the match at all costs, though. That's why I was hoping that he'd get a win here to showcase him a bit, plus give Theory something to do (find a way back into Vince McMahon's favor after letting him down by losing the match). Bless this Chicago crowd for getting really into some of these matches that just don't have the umph to make most people care. I love that this faction has given Rhea and Damian Priest something to do that's different and keeps them in the spotlight week after week. My favorite part of this match was when Liv Morgan and Rhea got to mix it up because, honestly, they're both incredibly talented and showed it. This was surprisingly a lot of fun and well done. A six-man (six-person?) tag match has the potential to break down into a chaotic mess, at any point of time. Anyway, this is a lot like the match the two had last month, except MVP was there to take the loss this time out. I also wish Morgan/Balor/Styles would come up with a name for their group: The Fabulous Threebirds, Fullofit Club, The Happy Campers. The name choices are endless. If you want to watch a replay of Hell in a Cell, you'll need the streaming service Peacock. While the streaming service does have a free tier, you will not be able to watch the WWE event through that. Sure, I laughed a bunch when Owens was screaming "Elias" in Ezekiel's face, but this was a weird match. Also, Kevin Owens took on Ezekiel in order to prove that Ezekiel is actually Elias, but in the end, did it really prove anything at all?

He suffered for his craft while turning in the performance of a lifetime. And that is something even the most jaded fans will appreciate. Hearing of an injury is one thing but realizing the extent of it and both the fortitude it took to still make the match was something entirely different. The American Nightmare lived through enduring pain in the name of art. What ensued was one of the hardest-to-watch, yet equally compelling, main events in WWE history. With a decided lack of depth across the board, the options are limited.
Cody Rhodes fought through injury and stopped Seth Rollins a third time inside Hell in a Cell.
And it wouldn't be a surprise to see Lashley in the ladder match at Money in the Bank. One of the best moments of the match was when Asuka and Lynch traded roll-ups time and again. That could lie ahead at Money in the Bank, where Asuka could be pegged as a favorite in the ladder match. The pace was fast, and all three women were able to sustain extended periods of dominance in the match. Asuka applied the ankle lock to both Bianca and Becky at the same time. Morgan and Ripley could be headed for another match against one another, if not the ladder match at MITB. Corbin was strapped to a stretcher after the attack in a callback to what Corbin had done to Moss weeks ago. Ripley stood in front of Edge to stop Balor, which ultimately began the final sequence of the match. Led by Edge, Judgment Day secured the victory over AJ Styles, Finn Balor and Liv Morgan after Edge hit Balor with a spear that was enough to earn the pin. He connected with two more Cross Rhodes and then used the sledgehammer strike to finish Rollins off for good. The final two were punctuated by a sledgehammer strike to the head for the win. Midway through the action, an impromptu Bullrope Match broke out when Rhodes strapped it on his left hand and convinced Rollins to do the same.
Rhodes and Rollins worked a legitimate injury into a remarkable display of pro-wrestling toughness.
Rhodes kicked a sledgehammer out of Rollins' hands, landed two consecutive Cross Rhodes and domed him with the sledgehammer to win the match. Rhodes and Rollins had a hall pass to take things easy with the severity of Rhodes' injury. A throwback to stipulations in the era of Dusty, Rhodes and Rollins abused each other with the rope and cowbell while both were tied in. The polka dots and bull rope were a welcomed addition to the match. Rollins landed the Cross Rhodes on the fan-favorite only for Rhodes to return fire with the same move.
