Two of the deceased were found in the same room as the gunman, the police captain said. Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were at the scene. Those shootings have left 76 dead, including 31 adults and children in Buffalo and Texas. The death toll does not include the suspects. “But it was definitely a ‘this is happening here’ moment.” Dalgleish said an orthopedic clinic is located on the second floor where officers discovered the shooter and several victims. Tankersley said he and his mother sheltered in his father’s room for more than an hour, trying to learn information from TV news and passing nurses. “It appears both weapons at one point or another were fired on the scene,“ Dalgleish said.

Tulsa Police Chief Wendell Franklin said the assailant in Wednesday's attack blamed a doctor at the facility for ongoing pain after back surgery.

“She said that she was in the process of moving and then she found these pictures and she really wanted me to have them back… “It is the ultimate loss for Tulsa and St. Francis.” He planned to focus on Congress’s bipartisan push to regulate the purchase of ammonium nitrate – a chemical commonly used in fertilizer and explosives – after its use in deadly acts of terrorism, including the Oklahoma City bombing of 1995. out of the goodness of her heart, knowing how much I miss and love my mother,” Reckenbeil said in a phone interview. Franklin said Louis was able to get into the hospital through a second-level parking level that’s connected to the building. "But we will be here to walk with you through that process every step of the way — have no doubt about that.” Franklin told reporters that police recovered a letter the gunman had on him detailing how he was “killing Dr. Phillips and anyone who came in his way.” Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt (R) described Wednesday’s hospital attack as “ a senseless act of violence and hatred.” Officers got to the scene within minutes, Franklin said, and the gunfire suddenly stopped. Democrats are hoping passage of a sweeping House bill will pressure Republicans in the Senate to join them in taking some action, even if it’s more modest. On May 19, Louis went into hospital for back surgery, and Phillips was the operating physician, Franklin said. Then, at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Louis purchased a semiautomatic rifle from a local gun store shortly before heading to St. Francis, police said.

Uvalde massacre is yet another shooting affecting Latinos — and ... (NBC News)

The Uvalde school shooting is one of the latest shootings predominantly impacting Latinos, as Hispanics weigh the need for more gun restrictions.

“Those are made for war, and we shouldn’t be allowed to carry them," Padauy-Oliver said. The Second Amendment, when it was written, covered muskets — “you couldn’t own a cannon,” he said. He said guns define who we are as a nation. Gun ownership among Latinos grew after the El Paso shooting, according to the National Shooting Sports Foundation, a firearm trade association. A video posted on social media shows him yelling as he is pulled away by security: "That's on your hands, Ted Cruz!" The attack at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, in 2016 was on Latino night, and again, many Latinos were among the 49 people who were killed and the 53 who were wounded. However, Latino Republicans “are more evenly divided,” with 44 percent saying gun laws should be stricter and 42 percent siding with current gun laws. Despite the low ranking, Latinos are big backers of gun restrictions. Alfaro said 4,100 Latinos are killed and 13,300 are wounded by firearms every year. Those who aren't 21 have to get an adult to sign the paperwork to allow them to carry guns under federal law, he said. His truck had been broken into a few times, but, he said, he hadn’t had a home invasion. The gunman in the 2019 shooting massacre in El Paso, Texas, targeted Latinos, several of whom were among the 23 people who were killed and the dozens more who were wounded.

Other recent revelations have raised the question of what law enforcement knew about the situation inside the school while officers were stationed outside. Arredondo has been widely criticized by state leaders and safety experts in the days after the shooting for his handling of the situation. Financial supporters play no role in the Tribune's journalism. “There is blame enough to go around,” Gutierrez said during the news conference. In modern active shooter tactics, police are trained to immediately take down gunmen instead of waiting for backup or additional resources in order to save as many lives as possible. The shooter killed 19 students and two teachers during his siege on the school.

Police say an adult man shot and killed two female victims, then took his own life, in a parking lot outside Ames' Cornerstone Church Thursday night.

The church is also framed by CrossRoad Baptist Church and the Iowa Department of Transportation Maintenance Garage. Beyond that are sprawling fields. "Tonight’s act of senseless violence took the lives of two innocent victims at their place of worship. Our Ministry staff are available to support all those impacted, and we will continue to fully cooperate with authorities as they complete their full investigation," the statement said. "The state police arrived at his house at that point last year," Garcia said. He also says he pondered attacking a church or an elementary school but chose the supermarket because of how many people frequent grocery stores. It also lays out how the author intends to "shoot all black people." "The families of the victims have demanded and are demanding justice. "This is someone who has hate in their heart, soul and mind." "'What? I can't hear you,'" the dispatcher responded. The members of this community are demanding justice." Gendron then shot eight more people inside the store before surrendering to police, the commissioner alleged. Two of the charges of attempted murder as hate crime involve victims who are White, but Flynn said he can use this charge because of Gendron's alleged intent. In order to use this charge, prosecutors have to prove five or more individuals were murdered with the intent of racial motivation, he added. Additionally, there is now a gag order in the case, which prevents all sides from speaking to the public following a defense motion last week. It's the first time the charge has been levied since it was added to state law in 2020, Erie County District Attorney John Flynn announced.
