Pulisic scored what stood as the game-winner in the team’s first appearance at TQL Stadium, coming in the 2-0 qualifying win against Mexico last November. - Antonee Robinson is the only player to start all seven USMNT matches in 2022. The USMNT is 6-1-0 when they partner together. - Goalkeeper Matt Turner, defender Reggie Cannon and midfielder Brenden Aaronson also return after missing out on the March window. - Center back Aaron Long earns his first start since the 2-1 win at Northern Ireland on March 28, 2021. The trio all last appeared in the 3-0 win against Honduras on Feb. 2, with Turner and Cannon starting the match and Aaronson coming off the bench in the 76th minute.
Many of the USMNT's most important players will take the field as they test themselves against Morocco.
It's a penalty to Morocco and the ball doesn't lie as the ball goes off the bar. It has helped when the ball needs to go up the pitch but it will be interesting to see if Morocco can exploit space behind Robinson. Hakimi has been quiet but expect that to change as the match grows on. Bounou has been the busier keeper facing two shots on target but it has been a pretty open game to start things. Zimmerman has been fairly sturdy at the back and delivered a lovely ball over the top to Pulisic, who did great with it to set up Aaronson. But Weah, to my point earlier, is not wasting time. Rolling through the middle like a freight train, he is just stopped by Bounou in a tight area. It's a good win for the team as Tim Weah, Brenden Aaronson and Haji Wright hit the back of the net. It has been an excellent case of game management from the United States even though they allowed a penalty chance that rattled off the bar. One moment you get a brilliant touch from the Valencia man,and the next his positioning his way off defensively, allowing a clear path in. There looked like nothing there, and he has tracked back well on Hakimi. It's been a good shift. Matt Turner was sharp in goal with some key stops, while Morocco also missed a penalty in the second half. The United States men's national team kicked off their summer with a convincing 3-0 victory over Morocco on Wednesday in an international friendly.

The United States Men's National Team returns to action today for the first time since punching its ticket to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
If you see a comment that you feel is out of line, please report it and it will be dealt with. There are only so many minutes to go around so if a player gets a chance, their performance will be under quite the microscope. One intriguing tactic shift is that of Brenden Aaronson, who will lineup up in a central midfield spot instead of the usual winger position he usually occupies.

Top of the USMNT goals tonight is to identify the best players and the best tactical organization for the 2022 World Cup. These are critical minutes for a number of players hoping to secure spots on the roster. Berhalter stated that he will experiment with Brenden Aaronson, using the new Leeds United signing in midfield in the hopes of finding a way to get as many of his best players on the field at the same time. This is a game that also has the potential to see goals. A stiff test for the United States in the first of its World Cup warmups. 6 mins to kick: A neat pre-match moment between two players expected to battle on the field all match, and a reminder how far Christian Pulisic has come in his club career. 5th min: CHANCE, USA! Another turnover off the high press results in another test of the Morocco goalkeeper, but a Pulisic shot is deflected just wide. 26th min: GOAL, USA! New Leeds man Brenden Aaronson, in a new position, has his name on an international goal, but this is all down to Christian Pulisic. A long ball from deep by Zimmerman finds Pulisic who delivers a world class first touch before cutting back and leaving his two defenders on the floor. 17th min: There is a clear tactical approach to this game from Gregg Berhalter, and it centers around an unbalanced play when in possession, something we've seen before from the U.S. head coach. It's a fabulous rip, and the U.S. suddenly has a 2-0 lead with goals six minutes apart. Long and El Kaabi have battled consistently through the first half, and the U.S. defender has to be careful not to pick up a second booking. It's disappointing from a player of Ferreira's form, but the save is a cap-tipper. 61st min: PENALTY, USA! Brenden Aaronson works a shot that's parried by Bounou, and the rebound falls to Pulisic with his back to goal.

"It took me a lot of time to make the decision, but in the end I listened to what my heart told me, and, yeah, I hope it's the right decision. "Met Gregg a couple weeks ago and he told me about his plan with the team, and he convinced me to play for the U.S.," Tillman said. And if you do that, there'll be other opportunities for you down the road." "A lot of the work has to be done (with our) clubs and just making sure that you're in the best shape and condition for a spot in the team come World Cup time. "We're really excited that (Tillman) got cleared by FIFA," Berhalter said. "Our heart goes out to Djordje, and, you know, the timing of this is very unfortunate for him," Berhalter said. There's not a lot of time that we're going to be together," Pulisic said during a Tuesday media roundtable. Pulisic's future at the club remains somewhat in question, however. I'm super-excited to be here and, yeah, that's it." In Germany, I think I wouldn't be with the team for (likely) the next two years. If I have a great career the next two years, maybe I can have a chance with the German national team but I don't really see the chance with them. Substitute Wright, making his first appearance for the U.S. senior team, came on for Jesus Ferreira at the start of the second half and scored from the penalty spot in the 64th minute after Achraf Hakimi fouled Pulisic in the area to put Gregg Berhalter's side up by three. Weah, who had a good effort saved earlier in the first half, doubled the Americans' lead shortly after the opener with a powerful, swerving shot from outside the penalty area that glanced off Bounou's fingertips and into the back of the net as the U.S. took a 2-0 lead into halftime. The U.S. opened the scoring in the 26th minute after a stellar play by Christian Pulisic, who settled a long ball over the top of the Morocco defense, beat his defender and laid it off for Aaronson to steer his first-time shot past Yassine Bounou.
The U.S. had a two-goal lead in the first half and never looked back.
⚽ 64' A true nine, Wright was confident pointing to Aaronson for where he wanted the ball and testing the keeper when it was delivered. It's funny that Weah's least likely shot was the one that went in, but every time he got the ball, he knew that he was going to test the keeper. Playing in a deeper role than normal, de la Torre was fun in his limited minutes pinging the ball around the pitch. Great to see McKennie back to fitness and getting a good runout. What awareness in the box from Pulisic to take an excellent first touch before waiting for the run from Aaronson for the opener. He was up against the tougher flank of Morocco's defense but not a performance that we've come to expect from Robinson. Critical to the United States plan of pressuring the ball high and turning Morocco over. Aaronson's soccer mind is next level and he has the energy to keep up with his thought process. The penalty looked like it would go to Pulisic before he handed the ball to Wright in a surprise move, with the well-traveled striker finishing calmly into the lower-left of the goal. Long had a team high six clearances to add to an interception and a blocked shot. Matt Turner was sharp in goal with some key stops, while Morocco also missed a penalty in the second half. It won't register as an assist but Zimmerman's ball over the top to setup Aaronson's goal was beautiful.

Fate, and the calendar, have given the US men's national team a fleeting six matches to prepare themselves for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar over the next six ...
And we have to be really careful and really deliberate to keep the ball when we can, and really hurt the opponent in certain moments with the ball,” said Berhalter. “I mean, how long do we have the ball before we scored the second goal? “It was a good opponent, good forward [Tissoudali], the guy’s scored a ton of goals this year, and he got really physical. The USMNT flashed a tactical wrinkle as their usual 4-3-3 formation morphed into a 3-2-2-3 in the buildup. “Really happy that we got to play against them.” And I felt like the group went out and showed exactly how good we can be, but also at times were vulnerable,” said Berhalter after a victory paced by a swaggering display from captain Christian Pulisic. “We're very happy with the result. We still know that we need to keep improving, and that's why this game was so good for us.”
