Today, the Pokémon Company announced the release date for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The games are out for November Switch on November 18.

We can see joints, metal plating, and fake electrical spikes, all pointing to a manufactured legendary, while the other is clearly organic. They seem to parallel the professors with one looking prehistoric while the other is futuristic with jet-powered legs and a metal body. This has sparked theories about one game being set in the past, the other in the future, or both games involving time travel in some fashion following on from Legends Arceus' own messing with time.

One is scarlet, and the other is violet. Elsewhere in the trailer, we got a look at the other new, non-legendary monsters. Well, Koraidon has legs — Miraidon has two rocket-fueled engines that appear to keep it floating.

The Nintendo Switch has a wide-range of Pokémon games, including both new entries to the franchise and remakes of classic releases. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will be released for the Nintendo Switch on November 18. Nintendo says Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will be true open-world adventures, which is a first for the series. Like prior games, you can expect the region to feature a mix of new and old Pokémon, as well as region-specific variations of classic Pokémon. It remains to be seen if any of the mechanics introduced in Arceus will be incorporated into Scarlet and Violet. Nintendo says the open-world format will let players complete the game at their own pace rather than in a preset order determined by the story.

The fight is shown very briefly, with Lechonk landing a hit on Water-type starter Quaxly before the trailer moves on to show other Pokemon that will be featured in the new games. One Pokemon trainer is shown sneaking up on a new Grass/Normal-type Pokemon named Smoliv, who can be seen hanging out in a field. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet were first revealed with a trailer that mainly showcased returning Pokemon, with the new starters unveiled right at the end.

For the first time in the series, in Scarlet and Violet, it appears you can tackle gyms in any order—a true open-world. (Because this is the internet, some observers took away some PG-13 inferences from Miraidon’s silhouette.) Both Pokémon have tendrils arced such that they look like handlebars. Still, Braviary-eyed fans quickly spotted how these two legendary Pokémon could be…motorcycles. The two circular spoked segments on Koraidon’s torso look a whole lot like wheels.
