Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's legendary Pokémon revealed (Polygon)

With Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's new trailer, The Pokémon Company has revealed new legendaries coming in the Gen. 9 game.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet bring open-world exploration and 4 ... (Business Insider)

Nintendo Switch owners will get their second new Pokémon game of 2022 this fall. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are now available to preorder.

The Nintendo Switch has a wide-range of Pokémon games, including both new entries to the franchise and remakes of classic releases. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will be released for the Nintendo Switch on November 18. Nintendo says Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will be true open-world adventures, which is a first for the series. Like prior games, you can expect the region to feature a mix of new and old Pokémon, as well as region-specific variations of classic Pokémon. It remains to be seen if any of the mechanics introduced in Arceus will be incorporated into Scarlet and Violet. Nintendo says the open-world format will let players complete the game at their own pace rather than in a preset order determined by the story.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet coming to Nintendo Switch in November (Polygon)

The Pokémon Company announced that Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will be released in November. The company debuted a new trailer for the next game in the ...

The Pokémon Company showed off nearly three minutes of gameplay, specifically with lots of Pokémon trainers running through open areas with a few new, cute Pokémon, including the legendary creatures, Koraidon and Miraidon. In these open areas — the first real open-world RPG for Pokémon — players will be able to head out into different areas with up to four players as part of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s multiplayer compatibility. The ninth-generation Pokémon game is expected to be in an open-world format, something a bit different from both Pokémon Sword and Shield and Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The Pokémon Company said there are “no borders” between wilderness and towns, with Pokémon appearing everywhere — “in the skies, in the sea, and on the streets.” Pokémon Scarlet and Violet were announced in February during a Pokémon Presents broadcast for Pokémon Day. During that presentation, The Pokémon Company revealed the series’ next three starters: Sprigatito, a “capricious, attention-seeking Grass Cat Pokémon;” Fuecoco, a “laid-back Fire Croc Pokémon that does things at its own pace;” and Quaxly, an “earnest and tidy Duckling Pokémon.”

Feature: All The New Pokémon In Pokémon Scarlet & Violet (Nintendo Life)

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are the newest Pokémon games on the block, and the first new mainline entry in the series since Pokémon Sword and Shield came out ...

Perhaps dragon/electric type? Not much is known about Koraidon, but according to Pokéjungle, "korai" means "ancient" in Japanese. He looks dragon-type, at least, maybe with a dual fighting or fire type. The oil can also be used as a weapon, but mostly to buy this scaredy-olive time to run away. Chunky. He's fat). He's a normal-type Hog Pokémon, 1'8" tall, and a whopping 22.5 lbs, with the ability Aroma Veil (which repels bug Pokémon) or Gluttony. The website says that he "may appear fat at first glance, but in reality, the Pokémon’s body is mostly muscle built by constantly walking around in search of food." He's 1'4" tall, 9 lbs, and his ability is Overgrow. We also know that he is capable of photosynthesis, and he has a special move that "releases a sweet aroma" to make opponents lose their will to battle. Scarlet and Violet will be out later this year — the 18th November, 2022, to be exact — and they're both based around the Iberian Peninsula, so expect a lot of Spanish and Portuguese cultural references.

Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Seems To Offer Better Character ... (Kotaku)

Game Freak imagines an open world where not every trainer has the exact-same hair.

You have the Victorian school uniforms on the standard Pokémon white kids, then the whiter-than-white faces of the newly revealed Professors, and then, amusingly enough, the very pale-faced set of starter Pokémon. After that there’s one more white trainer, pleasingly extolling the virtues of science, before...what’s this? And somewhere in the middle, “Braids.” You know, there’s side parting, the “medium and wavy,” a bowl cut, long hair... For the first time in the franchise, it looks like character customization might have begun to acknowledge a neglected section of its fanbase. The exact same narrow range appeared in New Pokémon Snap, also out last year. Even the most recent entry, Pokémon Arceus, only offered three shades of person, translucent white (hello), slightly tanned, and a lighter brown.

Over the last several years, for instance, we’ve seen poster boards of various sizes and qualities demanding a Mother 3 localization, arguing over the best Final Fantasy, and even looking for fellow Skies of Arcadia lovers. During a particularly intense, kayfabe-skirting monologue by AEW star Maxwell Jacob Friedman, a quick shot of the crowd at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, California revealed an attendee holding up a large sign emblazoned with the crying hog Pokémon’s name and a unique piece of fan art. The open-world games, coming to Switch on November 18, have a lot going for them: two hot, new professors, a legendary Pokémon that looks like a dick, and of course Lechonk, the adorable piglet with the silly name that stole everyone’s hearts ( and stomachs).

Some Pokémon Fans Think Scarlet And Violet's Hot Professors Are ... (Kotaku)

Professor Sada and Professor Turo, how could you?!

In Violet, though, Turo would be the professor and Sada the villain. The theory postulates that Sada would be the professor character in Scarlet, Turo the villain. It’s often pretty serious-sounding stuff, but the games put such a focus on capturing and training Pokémon that you often forget there’s world-ending stakes going on in the margins. As one writer pointed out on Twitter, “pasada” is Spanish for “past” and “futuro” means “future. (Though the name for Scarlet and Violet’s setting has yet to be revealed, it’s nakedly inspired by geography and architecture from the Iberian Peninsula.) A past-vs.-future theme is also in line with the two most recent Pokémon games: last November’s Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl and this January’s Legends: Arceus, a spin-off set in the distant past in the same region as BDSP. And the two legendary Pokémon, Koraidon and Miraidon, sure seem like past-vs.-future alternatives of each other. Their distinctive fashion has spurred observers to believe Scarlet and Violet are set in divergent timelines, one in the past, one in the future. In the mainline Pokémon games, there’s always a professor, and they’re always a mentor.
