Pokemon Scarlet and Violet announcement sparks Lechonk fever (For The Win)

Lechonk is here and the internet has lost its collective mind. Here are some of the best memes and tweets about the round pig lad.

It’s just a round pig with a cute face and a funny name, the perfect fodder for farming likes on Twitter. The speed the artists move at these days terrifies me. The eyes, the tongue, the ears – his whole face just screams “normal type”. He’s just a normal man. But don’t worry about facts – there’s a new Pokemon and it’s a chonky pig. This time, the developers nailed it. He’s me, for real.

Just based on design, Koraidon looks more animalistic, with colorful features that likely indicate it will be a Fire and Dragon type. It will have access to the abilities Static and Natural Cure available once captured. The two Legendary Pokémon that will be appearing on the boxes for Scarlet and Violet are called Koraidon and Miraidon, though little is known about either of the reptile-like creatures.

Pokémon Scarlet And Violet's Crying Lechonk Would Be Great On A ... (Kotaku)

I'm sure the three new Pokémon—Lechonk, Smoliv, and Pawmi—are all great in battle, but only one looks rich in protein.

This is Lechonk’s namesake—this is its destiny. This is the way it has to be. But the Pokémon Company discourages us from devouring Smoliv, which somehow weighs 14.3 pounds (potentially implying that Smoliv has 14 pounds of bones), and notes on its website that the oil Smoliv produces “has a very strong bitter taste, and it is not suitable for consumption.”

If Anything Happens To Lechonk I Will Hurt You All (TheGamer)

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet's newest pig Pokemon is proving a smash hit with fans already.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet has a stack of interesting new features, gimmicks, and potential storylines, but I'd be lying if I said Lechonk wasn't one of the main reasons I'm all aboard the hype train. Lechonk has watery eyes, which make it look positively adorable, but they could quickly become sunken, weeping, deathly black orbs as Lechonk grows into a full chonker, or the trademark drips could stop being cute spouts from its nose and become viscous discharge from its snout. We have some pig Pokemon already, but here's the thing - I hate them all so I'm going to act like we don't. Tepig? Fine, but like pretty much every Fire starter it gets worse as it evolves. Pokemon has a habit of providing us with cute and lovely Pokemon and then evolving them into something gross and vulgar. If any harm comes to Lechonk I will slay you all until I have my vengeance, in this life or the next. Click all of those links to get the boring stuff out of the way, and then head back here for the good stuff: Lechonk. All you need to know about the upcoming launch of Gen 9 is that Lechonk will soon be in your life.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's new hog Lechonk is already a fan ... (Polygon)

The new trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, which debuted Wednesday, showed off the game's adorable new Pokémon — including a new hog named Lechonk.

(And Smoliv, the smol olive, really fits in here too.) When an opponent attacks, or when startled, Lechonk will “charge forward in a panic.” Judging by the trailer, this means this hefty boi spends some time on the ground, dazed and confused. This new Pokémon “uses its sense of smell to find and eat only the most fragrant wild grasses,” according to a release. We have a new round one in our midst.

In the fruit on its head, Smoliv stores oil made from nutrients it gathers through photosynthesis. Lechonk uses its sense of smell to find and eat only the most fragrant wild grasses and the richest Berries. As a result of its dining habits, it has come to radiate an aroma resembling herbs that Bug-type Pokémon dislike. It may appear fat at first glance, but in reality, the Pokémon’s body is mostly muscle built by constantly walking around in search of food. It generates electricity by rubbing its cheeks, then it shocks its opponents by touching them with the pads on its forepaws. When it feels uneasy, this cautious Pokémon will begin rubbing its cheeks, preparing itself to discharge an electric shock. In addition to the electric sacs in its cheeks, Pawmi has electricity-discharging organs on its forepaws.

Over the last several years, for instance, we’ve seen poster boards of various sizes and qualities demanding a Mother 3 localization, arguing over the best Final Fantasy, and even looking for fellow Skies of Arcadia lovers. During a particularly intense, kayfabe-skirting monologue by AEW star Maxwell Jacob Friedman, a quick shot of the crowd at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, California revealed an attendee holding up a large sign emblazoned with the crying hog Pokémon’s name and a unique piece of fan art. The open-world games, coming to Switch on November 18, have a lot going for them: two hot, new professors, a legendary Pokémon that looks like a dick, and of course Lechonk, the adorable piglet with the silly name that stole everyone’s hearts ( and stomachs).
