New York Rangers: A tale of two Chytils (Bluelinestation.com)

If there has been one surprise in the 2022 Stanley Cup playoffs for the New York Rangers, it has been the transformation of Filip Chytil.

His work in the playoffs this year has been outstanding. He has already played parts of five seasons in the NHL, pretty remarkable for a 22 year old. I’m not quick to blame the referees. Yeah, it should have been a goal#NYR pic.twitter.com/rdJKleUiGz Chytil, along with Igor Shesterkin, was the star of Game Six with two goals including the game winner. A first round draft pick in 2017, the 21st overall pick has seen his stock rise and fall.

Rangers have the fortitude, heart to win Game 7 (New York Post)

The Rangers are seeking to stare down elimination for the fifth time within 14 games as they take on the Hurricanes in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference ...

It is on the Rangers’ two senior players to fight their way through this. This is that for Zibanejad, who represents the team’s offensive engine. But if Raanta will be mentally challenged, so will the Rangers, whose fortitude and resilience represent two of the club’s greatest and most endearing assets. Up to one-third of the group could be gone. But the Rangers, untested in playoff ways only a matter of four weeks ago, are still standing. But that does not hold for the players for whom next year is never guaranteed. This band of Blueshirts will not be back next season. The future and all that. That is what it is going to take for their linear descendants. Hence, there is as much at stake for the Rangers as for the home team that is competing in its eighth playoff round over the last four years. But a decade later, these extra games have become a bonus rather than a burden. I have always believed that their inability to close out the Caps in five or six after leading the conference semis 2-1 and 3-2 cost those Rangers the Cup.

Hurricanes, Rangers face Game 7 for trip to conference final (KMID - Local 2 News)

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — The Carolina Hurricanes have the home-ice advantage with the flawless record when playing in front of their rowdy home crowd.

Canes confident at home for Game 7 vs. Rangers (CBS sports.com)

The Carolina Hurricanes obviously would've rather avoided another Game 7, but at least they'll be back in their comfort zone.

It's not a surprise for us, but fortunately for us he makes those saves at key times, and that gave us a 2-0 lead and a lot of confidence after the first period." We have to play our game and just don't focus on any other things, just focus on the game and I think we can win." "Makes me a little nervous, but he gets into the game and he focuses, and he makes those key saves for us. "We have to find a way to win the game and just play how we play at home," Rangers center Filip Chytil said. We have another shot here." He may have delivered his best stretch of the playoffs in the first period of Game 6, making several difficult saves while New York was building a 2-0 lead.

We have to find a way to win the game and just play how we play at home. In the first series, we found a way to win in Pittsburgh. So, it’s a Game 7 now. Both of those wins occurred on home ice, which is something that, notably, the Hurricanes will enjoy on Monday night.

To get there, the Rangers must first discover that elusive key to winning in Carolina. If it is the Rangers, then they will have home-ice advantage in the series. You’re just trying to change the momentum, and also, we have another game, so trying to get him ready for that one.” In the first series, we found a way to win in Pittsburgh. I know they have the fans and the building they are used to. Shesterkin has been bedrock for the Rangers, and a primary reason the team feels confident it can finally end Carolina’s home domination, in their very last chance to do so. It can save the goalie from exhaustion and from the confidence-draining experience of conceding more goals on an off night. They also possess some momentum going into Game 7, while the Hurricanes counter with that familiar, home-ice infallibility. Raanta has played beyond expectations since stepping in for Frederik Andersen, the Hurricanes’ lead goalie, who has been sidelined since April with an undisclosed lower-body injury. “We have to play how we play at home,” Chytil said. Then they won Game 6 in Boston, only to go to Raleigh, where they lost Game 7. Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin provided another standout performance with 37 saves and two assists, on goals by Mika Zibanejad and Filip Chytil, as the Rangers extended their season at least one more game. Carolina became the first N.H.L. team to lose six road playoff games.

Rangers double-overtime win in 1994 tops among conference final ... (NHL.com)

The Western Conference Final between the Colorado Avalanche and Edmonton Oilers begins Tuesday, and the Eastern Conference Final between the Tampa Bay ...

Yet to be nicknamed "Mr. Game 7," Williams had a goal and two assists for the Hurricanes. Carolina defeated the Edmonton Oilers in seven games in the Stanley Cup Final to win its first championship. Rod Brind'Amour's power-play goal with 8:38 remaining in the third period broke a 2-2 tie and proved to be the game-winner for Carolina, which advanced to the Stanley Cup Final for the second time in four seasons. Chicago jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals from Andrew Shaw and Marian Hossa in the opening 6:19, but Anaheim responded with goals from Andrew Cogliano at 9:14 of the first period and Corey Perry with 2:30 remaining in the second to tie it. Rookie Adam Henrique gave Brodeur and the Devils their revenge 18 years to the day after their Game 6 loss to the Rangers on May 25, 1994, by scoring 1:03 into overtime to send New Jersey onto the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 2003. Nathan Horton scored with 7:33 remaining in the third period and Tim Thomas prevailed in a goaltending duel with Dwayne Roloson to propel the Bruins to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 1990. The Rangers defeated the Vancouver Canucks in seven games in the Final to win the Stanley Cup for the first time since 1940. Messier backhanded the puck past Brodeur to tie it 2:48 into the third period and gave the Rangers a 3-2 lead by scoring on a rebound with 7:48 remaining before clinching the win with a shorthanded empty-net goal with 1:45 left. The Kings led 3-1 in the best-of-7 series after a 5-2 victory in Game 4, but the Blackhawks pushed the series to the limit with a 5-4 double-overtime win in Game 5 and a 4-3 victory in Game 6. Wayne Gretzky set an NHL record with his eighth playoff hat trick to carry the Kings into the Stanley Cup Final for the first time and deny the Maple Leafs their first trip to the Final since their last championship in 1967. Roloson made 37 saves for the Lightning in what turned out to be the final playoff game of his 14-season NHL career. With New York trailing 3-2 in the best-of-7 series following a 4-1 loss in Game 5, in which coach Mike Keenan benched Leetch, Messier told reporters the day before Game 6 at New Jersey, "We know we are going to go in there and win Game 6 and bring it back to the Garden." The Rangers promptly fell behind 2-0 in the first period with Scott Niedermayer and Claude Lemieux scoring goals for the Devils. Richter, who finished with 28 saves, held the fort until Alexei Kovalev began the Rangers' comeback by scoring with 1:41 remaining in the second period. Stephane Matteau, Matteau, Matteau scored 4:24 into the second overtime and the Rangers survived an epic series with the rival Devils that featured three double-overtime games to reach the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 1979.

4 bold predictions for Rangers-Hurricanes Game 7 in Stanley Cup ... (ClutchPoints)

We have some bold predictions for the New York Rangers and Carolina Hurricanes in Game 7 of their NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs clash.

Zibanejad will look to see his impressive goalscoring streak reach five games, but more importantly, he’ll look to lift the Rangers to a Game 7 win in Carolina. The goaltender, who is the clear-cut favorite to win the Vezina Trophy, and could even take home the Hart, has bounced back after some early struggles in the playoffs. We’re expecting much of the same in Game 7, as in the elimination game, you can guarantee Gerrard Gallant will be urging Zibanejad to fire on net at will, especially with Raanta looking more vulnerable than ever. Another big game could be awaiting the trio, who will look to get past Raanta with a goal, or maybe even two. Despite his heroics throughout the postseason, Antti Raanta was not good enough in Game 6, getting pulled in the second period after surrendering a trio of early goals. The Carolina Hurricanes and New York Rangers are set for Game 7 of their second-round NHL Playoffs series.

We have to find a way to win the game and just play how we play at home.” “To the fans — in Ottawa, Dallas, Toronto and across the league — your impact on the game is immeasurable. “We found a way to win in Pittsburgh,” Rangers center Filip Chytil said after Saturday’s win. “I think there’s confidence just in general,” Carolina coach Rod Brind’Amour said Sunday. “We know when we play our game, we’re going to have a good chance. That, along with posting the NHL’s third-best record, gave them a second round of home-ice advantage at PNC Arena — where they have gone 7-0 in the longest streak by any team to start a postseason since 2014. The New York Rangers have the resilience that’s been proven with a perfect mark in elimination games.
