Rangers storm past Hurricanes to force Game 7 in Carolina (New York Post)

The Rangers need to get just one win in Carolina in Game 7 after taking a 5-2 win over the Hurricanes in Game 6 Saturday night.

“We have to play a very disciplined game, although it is probably hard to say. “I think the key is probably to try to play like today,” Panarin said. “They have the fans, they have the building where they’re getting used to [winning], but we have to play hard. They’ll have to channel that same determination in a Memorial Day showdown in Game 7. “Even with the first series, we found a way to win in Pittsburgh. So it’s a Game 7 now. The Rangers were a team on a mission from puck drop and the Garden crowd reveled in it.

The 2020 first-overall pick has been strikingly noticeable, on and off the ice in these playoffs, because he undoubtedly is having the time of his life. … We just keep having fun and keep being ourselves.” Oh, and he had a ball doing it. Aside from all the fun, Lafreniere has upped his physical presence in these playoffs as well. “That’s a part of my game, too. He obviously has special ability, which is coming out lately in a big way.”

But that needs to transfer to their play on the road, if the team hopes to avoid a Game 7. Teravainen's power-play goal was the Hurricanes' first of the series on the man advantage after the team had gone 0-for-9 in the first four games. In five games -- all losses -- the Hurricanes have been outscored 8-1, including 2-0 by the Rangers in Games 3 and 4 at Madison Square Garden. They shouldn't. They're playing in a winnable series with a chance to advance to the conference final. Teuvo Teravainen has 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in 12 games in the playoffs. We don't want to come back (home) and have another game, but we're going to do everything we can to win tomorrow night."

2022 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs: New York Rangers vs. Carolina ... (Blueshirt Banter)

I'll get right to the point. The New York Rangers played a frustrating Game 5, while the Carolina Hurricanes also had their best game of the series, ...

- But as I said earlier, the team overachieved as a whole this year, and has gone further than expected. - The series has been closer than many of the experts thought, and there is still time for the Rangers to make something happen. The Hurricanes were the best team in the division this year, and one of the best in the NHL. I said this during the Pittsburgh series, and I think it still applies now. - And I say this as someone who vividly remembers the Rangers getting shutout vs. - The Rangers almost stole Game 1 on the road, and that loss still stings a lot. - The good news for the Rangers is they’ve already won two in a row vs. - That said... Thankfully one of those games in on home ice, and that would leave an aforementioned winner-take-all Game 7. - With that having been said, the season isn’t over yet. - I’ll get right to the point. If that effort rolls over into tonight’s game, that will be a problem for New York.

The Under has cashed in 6 straight for the Hurricanes, too. The HURRICANES (-115) are slight favorites in this elimination game, as the books give them the edge. He has allowed 2 or fewer goals in 5 of his past 6 starts, with the lone exception being 4 goals allowed in Game 5. He allowed just 1 goal on 31 shots in his most recent home start against Carolina in Game 4 of this series. New York won 3 elimination games in the 1st round to advance after going down 3-1 against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Hurricanes head to New York hoping their 6th playoff road game will be a charm.

2022 Stanley Cup playoffs - Carolina Hurricanes swear road woes ... (ESPN)

Carolina set an NHL record as the home team won each of the club's first 12 playoff games. Can they win one at MSG to clinch a conference finals berth?

"We gotta win one game [in Raleigh] to win the series," Gallant said. The Rangers squandered a chance in Game 1, allowing a Carolina rally for an overtime loss. "In Game 3, we had a solid enough game and fell short," Staal said. The Rangers' Igor Shesterkinhas a .949 save percentage and a 2.05 goals-against average in six home games, and an .881 save percentage and a 3.82 goals-against average on the road (including the team's first-round matchup with Pittsburgh). It's 1-for-21 on the road, failing to convert while the Hurricanes' penalty kill gave up a Rangers power-play goal in both road games. It's just a matter of us being prepared." "As a group, we didn't play very well in Game 4. On the road, the Rangers' Mika Zibanejaddoesn't have a 5-on-5 point against Carolina while registering four shots on goal and five scoring chances in three games. At home, he has a goal and an assist with five shots and four scoring chances in two games. When you're at home they give you a little bit. It's all I hear about," Brind'Amour said Friday. "We haven't played poorly on the road. The Hurricanes' Game 5 victory Thursday night improved them to 7-0 in Raleigh this postseason.
