Carolina Hurricanes at New York Rangers: Game 4 Preview ... (Canes Country)

Never mind M.T. Knett; the Hurricanes' true nemesis is literally any building other than PNC Arena. Can the Canes turn the tide at MSG tonight?

They’re 5-1 at MSG this season, with the only loss coming in triple overtime of Game 1 against the Penguins. If they win again tonight, they’ll tie the club record for consecutive home playoff wins. Breaking that streak will require the Canes to solve Igor Shesterkin – and it certainly wouldn’t hurt if Antti Raanta put together another lengthy shutout streak to go along with his 125+ minute run that ended in the first period of Game 3. If they can do it tonight, they’ll return to Raleigh on Thursday with a chance to close out the series.

Game 4 takeaways: Jacob Trouba sets the tone as NY Rangers ... (The Journal News / Lohud.com)

Jacob Trouba had the tone-setting hit as the New York Rangers cruised to their most complete win of the playoffs on Tuesday.

"In the playoffs and in the regular season, they came in and were big factors," Fox said. "The day we got them, we were really excited with the character of these guys and the work that they bring to our team. That was a difference in the game, but there’s not much in any of these four games." That capped a signature night for the Rangers' trade-deadline additions, particularly the forwards. "The way he’s been playing is incredible." "He sets up at the blue line, and obviously it was a big part of the game. "We go into the series and we know we're playing against a real good hockey team over there," Gallant said. Zibanejad swooped in to clean it up and get the ever-important third goal. "I thought we did a good job with the lead, too. We played the hockey we wanted to play in Carolina, even though we didn't get the score we wanted. "But even the first two games in Carolina, we played good hockey and we've been a confident group all year. Steven Lorentz charged him for a fight that further electrified MSG and earned the Hurricanes an instigator penalty and Lorentz a 10-minute major.

The Rangers' two top-six trade-deadline acquisitions got things started and kept it rolling, combining for two goals and three assists in the win.

He’s playing with a young guy in Schneids and he’s able to help him out a lot, too. Not always going to be expecting to score a goal, but in the playoffs especially, there’s a lot of times where he’s able to calm guys down. “Then having Brauner back there, he’s a veteran guy, he’s played in a lot of big games, a lot of playoff games and just a calming presence. “In the playoffs and in the regular season, they came in and were big factors,” defenseman Adam Fox said. Copp capped his three-point night with a one-timer on a drop pass from Ryan Strome in the third period. While on the power play, Andrew Copp whipped a cross-zone pass over to Frank Vatrano for the 1-0 score at 13:31 of the first period.
