“We kind of lost our structure a bit and kind of having our numbers where we need them in order to generate some offense. “I think there was a little bit of a momentum swing there,” O’Connor said about the Blues changing goaltenders. Nathan MacKinnon assisted on the goal to give him points in seven straight postseason games. “Of course it was a good answer from the last game,” Lehkonen said. “I was just kind of sitting behind him and just tried to poke it with my stick. I think their defenseman kind of collided with me and pushed me into him.

He played in five NHL games for the Blues, going 5-0 with a 1.22 GAA and .958 SP. “That D (Rosen) and Naz are both going for a loose puck sitting at the top of the crease, skating in there, downhill, as hard as they can go and both guys go in there. They’re both going after the puck the same way and they collide before they go in.” Binnington was injured 6:45 into the game after Avs center Nazem Kadri and Blues defenseman Calle Rosen collided with him. It’s a loose puck. It’s unfortunate but it is what it is,” Bednar said.

Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington will miss at least the rest of the series against the Avalanche after suffering a knee injury in Game 3.

He paused for a moment and then continued, eventually telling the broadcast that Binnington may have thrown a water bottle at him. The Avalanche hold a 2-1 series lead heading into Game 4 on Monday night in St. Louis. In his postgame news conference, Kadri didn't back off that insinuation. "I just see a loose puck, really. Had that not been the case, I don't think I would have hit him at all," he said. "Look at Kadri's reputation.

Binnington OUT, could be fined; No discipline for Kadri (Colorado Hockey Now)

Jordan Binnington is out for the remainder of the series with Colorado because of a suspected knee injury.

I'm just going for a loose puck." But, I think the Blues privately know this was not a premeditated act by Kadri. They know. But so was the Kadri/Binnington/Rosen situation. Should the Avs dress Kurtis MacDermid? Jared Bednar did say this morning that MacDermid is a possibility to play Game 4. If so, they can probably kiss goodbye their chances of winning this series, as the Avs will light ’em up on the power play and maybe put their own guys out with suspensions if they do anything horrible. The injury, suspected to be to a knee, was the result of Nazem Kadri and Calle Rosen colliding into him in the first period last night.

Avalanche Relying On Defensive Depth With Loss of Girard (BlueJackets.com)

Next man up. With the indefinite loss of Samuel Giard following Game 3, the Colorado Avalanche will have to rely on their extensive lineup depth as they ...

But they're not letting themselves get too far ahead and are focused on the task at hand - and expecting a push from the Blues - in a pivotal Game 4. And while this loss comes at the most important time of the year, the team has confidence in their abilities to raise their own levels and that of their extensive depth as they did so in Game 3. They did so playing virtually the entirety of the game with just five defenseman; as Toews logged a whopping 30:56 minutes and Cale Makar skated 28:49 minutes. While Girard's absence is unfortunate, the circumstance of losing a regular is a familiar one for the Avalanche. During the regular season, the team utilized their depth and "next man up" mentality all season long as injuries continuously plagued them. They have to put in the extra work because obviously on a game night everyone else is getting an extra three hours of hard work." The loss of Girard vacates a substantial role on Colorado's blueline where the left shot was consistently paired with Josh Manson, averaged 17:59 minutes in the postseason and anchored one of the Avalanche's power play units.

Who should replace Sam Girard in Avalanche lineup? (+) (Colorado Hockey Now)

Sam Girard is out for the rest of the playoffs, so the question is: who should replace him in Colorado Avalanche lineup?

He played 74 games for the Avs in the regular season and he played very well. The Avs, uh, might need some of that element in Game 4, with this entire city up in arms over Jordan Binnington being lost for the series to a knee injury after a collision that involved Public Enemy No. 1 here, Nazem Kadri. ST. LOUIS – I’m already on record saying I believe Jack Johnson should get the job of filling in for the injured Sam Girard, who will be out the rest of the playoffs with a broken sternum.
