I can't imagine a Disney Plus incarnation of Daredevil will be anything like as gritty as the Netflix series was, of course, but more Charlie Cox as The Man Without Fear is absolutely a Very Good Thing Indeed. It's likely Murdock will pop up in other MCU projects before his own series launches. Cox originally played the crimefighting lawyer in Netflix's excellent Daredevil for three seasons.

Daredevil Series From Marvel Studios In Development For Disney ... (Game Rant)

After Daredevil was canceled by Netflix, Disney Plus will develop a series with Matt Corman and Chris Ord attached to the project.

When they wanted a collaboration of heroes to come together for a team-up, Marvel Studios gave it to them. When they wanted familiar faces from previous franchises to come back for another movie, Marvel Studios gave it to them. If they try a new approach, that may serve to infuriate fans since they've been asking for this show to pick up from where it left off since 2018.

The other big question about the new Daredevil is how adult the series will be allowed to be. Basically, all the characters got put in time out for a couple years, but now they’re back — and, presumably, other Marvel Netflix heroes could theoretically return now too. Some four years after its final season premiered, Daredevil is readying a return — at a new home.

Having said that, whether or not the new Daredevil series becomes a hit will boil down to the showrunner’s capability in telling and tying the character into the MCU. To quickly recap, Netflix’s Daredevil came to an abrupt halt back in 2018, after just three seasons, when Netflix cancelled the series. The third and final season picked up where The Defenders – also another Netflix series that ended after just one season – ended: with Murdock left in Saint Agnes Orphanage, all wrapped up and bandaged from his fight with The Hand. For another matter, the show could also signal the return of Vincent D’Onofrio to the role of Kingpin in the series, although to be fair, D’Onofrio technically already made his return to the role in the Disney+ series, Hawkeye.

Cox has since reappeared as Murdock in the feature film Spider-Man: No Way Home, while Vincent D’Onofrio, who portrayed the villain Wilson Fisk in the Netflix series, also reprised his role for Disney+ series Hawkeye earlier this year.

A new Daredevil series is coming to Disney+! (Winter Is Coming)

Daredevil fans rejoice! A new Daredevil series, with Charlie Cox reprising his role as Matt Murdock, is finally coming to Disney+.

If the new Daredevil doesn’t have the same dark tone, I’d imagine a lot of fans will be disappointed. Fans are also wondering if a Disney+ Daredevil show will have the same grit and brutality of the original. It remains to be seen how much the rebooted Daredevil will connect to previous events in the show.

If you've not yet watched the original three season run of Daredevil on Netflix, you should start to catch up now. Daredevil, Iron Fist and The Punisher are rated as 18+, for example. Variety reports that writers have been chosen, with Matt Corman and Chris Ord hired to pen the script and executive produce. It is perhaps a better assumption, therefore, to expect six episodes in the new Daredevil series. There's a train of thought that, while Charlie Cox is likely to reprise his role as Daredevil / Matt Murdock, the show's tone could be more family-friendly. However, the first seasons of Hawkeye, Moon Knight, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and Loki each contained six episodes.

All this to say, Disney isn’t exactly kid-oriented anymore — and rather than even organizing itself as “family friendly" with shows that kids love and adults can stand to watch or might even enjoy, it’s becoming more and more a markedly adult brand. We’ve seen signs of this before: Disney Plus has brought over the Marvel shows (formerly of Netflix) that don’t shy away from violence, and there’s even different tiers of service within the streaming site, including a new suite of parental controls. While it's true the Marvel Cinematic Universe has strayed into more violent territory, nothing has been as intensely violent as, for example, Frank Castle carving someone's throat open with a shiv, drenching his own face in gore (viewer discretion is advised for that link, obviously).

There have been rumors that both Matt Murdock and Jessica Jones could make an appearance in the upcoming "She-Hulk" series set to debut on August 17. All of the Netflix Marvel shows contained mature content, for some fans that was part of the appeal.
