NFL schedule release 2022: Bills at Rams in season kickoff, and ... (CBSSports.com)

The Rams' title defense will start against Josh Allen's Bills, while Russell Wilson opens at the Seahawks.

Buffalo is a formidable season-opening opponent for Los Angeles. Led by quarterback Josh Allen, the Bills have made the playoffs each of the past three years and have won the last two AFC East division titles. The Los Angeles Rams will kick off their title defense against a team that has their own Super Bowl aspirations. Looking to slow Allen and the Bills' offense down is a Rams defense that is led by three-time Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald. Led by Donald and cornerback Jalen Ramsey, the Rams' defense shut out Joe Burrow and the Bengals' high-octane offense for the final 25 minutes of Super Bowl LVI. Speaking of last year's Super Bowl, Von Miller, who recorded two sacks of Burrow in the Rams' 23-20, will face his former teammates in Week 1 after signing with the Bills this past offseason. Buffalo Bills at Los Angeles Rams (Sept. 8, 8:20 p.m. ET) New Orleans Saints at Atlanta Falcons (Sept. 11, 1 p.m. ET) Cleveland Browns at Carolina Panthers (Sept. 11, 1 p.m. ET) San Francisco 49ers at Chicago Bears (Sept. 11, 1 p.m. ET) Pittsburgh Steelers at Cincinnati Bengals (Sept. 11, 1 p.m. ET) Philadelphia Eagles at Detroit Lions (Sept. 11, 1 p.m. ET) Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans (Sept. 11, 1 p.m. ET) New England Patriots at Miami Dolphins (Sept. 11, 1 p.m. ET) Baltimore Ravens at New York Jets (Sept. 11, 1 p.m. ET) Jacksonville Jaguars at Washington Commanders (Sept. 11, 1 p.m. ET) Buffalo has advanced beyond the AFC wild card round the past two seasons before having their seasons ended by the Kansas City Chiefs. Buffalo and Kansas City dueled in an epic playoff game this past January that wasn't decided until Travis Kelce's game-winning score less than five minutes into overtime. Kansas City Chiefs at Arizona Cardinals (Sept. 11, 4:25 p.m. ET) Las Vegas Raiders at Los Angeles Chargers (Sept. 11, 4:25 p.m. ET) Green Bay Packers at Minnesota Vikings (Sept. 11, 4:25 p.m. ET) New York Giants at Tennessee Titans (Sept. 11, 4:25 p.m. ET) Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Dallas Cowboys (Sept. 11, 8:20 p.m. ET) Denver Broncos at Seattle Seahawks (Sept. 12, 8:20 p.m. ET) The Rams will host the Buffalo Bills in the NFL's season-opening game on Thursday, Sept. 8.

2022 NFL schedule release: Top 9 prime-time games (NFL.com)

The 2022 NFL schedule is out! Which island matchups SCREAM must-see TV? Adam Schein ranks the top nine prime-time games on the slate.

He's one of the most unique -- and most dominant -- players at any position in the game today. This could've been the Super Bowl last season -- and it will be the Super Bowl in February. Yup, I'm calling it. Rodgers and Allen have faced off one time, with the Packers blanking the Bills 22-0 back in Week 4 of 2018. YES!!!!!!!!!! I've been calling for this -- begging for this -- since the Rams won the Super Bowl. What a Kickoff Game! What a way to start the new campaign! I also love that this game's at Lambeau Field in December. It's one of the most unique environments in sports. And fresh off the run to the Super Bowl, the bar is rightly raised for more greatness. Not a crazy thought, given the immense talent on each roster, starting at the game's most important position. And with this game taking place on Christmas Eve, the incredible Steelers fans will have Heinz Field rocking. The tradition, the uniforms, the pomp and circumstance -- I'm a sucker for a matchup like this. Oh, and I love the Raiders this year. History! Ever heard of "The Immaculate Reception"? This is one of the most storied non-divisional rivalries in the league. Well, Russell Wilson is returning to Seattle on the very first Monday night of the season -- JUICY! -- but that emotionally charged tilt doesn't make the countdown below.

NFL Schedule release: Predicting the best late-season games for ... (DraftKings Nation)

Upon release of the 2022 NFL Schedule, we predict which games will be the best ones to watch down the stretch.

They’ll be a better team this year, and in a tight division race, these teams aren’t going to have the luxury of resting their starters. There aren’t likely to be any playoff stakes on the line here, but this should be a fun game to watch regardless. In the final week of the season last year, the Broncos only lost by four points, and that was without Drew Lock throwing a touchdown pass. Let’s take a look at some of the games in the last month of the season that should provide plenty of fireworks. The schedule makers had a real stroke of genius to keep both regular season game between these two AFC West rivals in the last month of the season. As long as Derrick Henry is healthy by this point in the season, that shouldn’t change for the Titans. But the Eagles might be more inclined to throw with both Brown and DeVonta Smith as their top two wideouts.

NFL Schedule 2022 Release, Leaks and Live Updates: Start time ... (The Athletic)

The NFL will announce 2022 schedules for all 32 teams at 8 p.m. ET Thursday. The Athletic's NFL writers break down what to watch and look forward to when ...

I plugged in eight wins for the Browns when making these calculations. The other way I calculated this was by measuring the gap between each team's Vegas win total and its 17th opponent's total. If we do that, the ranking comes out this way, from toughest to easiest: One of the first schedule announcements is official now. That was up 7% over 2020 and close to flat (17.6 million) with 2019. Now that Wilson, a nine-time Pro Bowler, has arrived, Denver is once again a big draw for networks. Denver did not play on Monday Night Football last season for the first time since 1991. (The games will also be televised in the home markets of the playing teams.). Amazon paid the NFL $1 billion for the privilege, and the NFL will want to be a good partner here. Zac Jackson has an excellent piece on the Browns' schedule in relation to television. Obviously, every network wants as many Bucs games as they can get this year given the opportunity to showcase Blaine Gabbert (Relax. They want you know who.) 3. ESPN’s new Monday Night Football booth — Joe Buck and Troy Aikman — have long called the best games every week. Also, the Broncos visit the Rams on Christmas Day.

2022 NFL schedule release: Bills-Rams kicks off regular season ... (NFL.com)

The 2022 NFL regular season will kick off with a marquee showdown in Los Angeles as the Rams will host the Buffalo Bills on Sept. 8. Check the complete Week ...

Minnesota QB Kirk Cousins will get another shot to improve upon a 1-9 record on Monday night, while Jalen Hurts looks to get off to a hot start in a pivotal third season. This time it's in Western New York, but it's another marquee matchup for the Bills to start the season as they face last year's AFC No. 1 seed a week after playing the reigning Super Bowl champs. Then again, Justin Fields leading Chicago to its first win in Green Bay since 2015 would certainly be a statement for the second-season signal-caller. This is a big one for Raider Nation, and Jones, who will get to face off against his former squad. No matter who's under center, Kyle Shanahan's Niners are looking to snap a four-game losing streak to Pete Carroll's 'Hawks. Tom Brady, Mike Evans and the Buccaneers' offense will no doubt have some extra incentive in this one, but Cameron Jordan and the Saints defense don't figure to give up much ground. Week 1 will conclude with the nine-time Pro Bowl quarterback's anticipated return to play his old squad, which traded him to the Broncos in the offseason. He'll have to jump right in against the three-time reigning division champions. The Lovie Smith era in Houston kicks off with quarterback Davis Mills' first Week 1 start. Hutchinson is likely to have a high-profile matchup against Eagles standout left tackle Jordan Mailata and will need to get his motor running to track down fleet-footed Philly QB Jalen Hurts. Atop the marquee will be 2021 NFL Draft first-round quarterbacks Trey Lance and Justin Fields, who are projected to lead their respective squads into this season-opening clash. This will also mark the return to the field of Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey after his 2021 season was cut short due to injury.

NFL Schedule Release: Week 1 Games and More (The New York Times)

The flashy Los Angeles Rams will begin their journey to defend their Super Bowl championship against the Buffalo Bills, a team that offered one of the most ...

That game is scheduled for Dec. 4 at 1 p.m. on CBS. The Buccaneers will also play in the N.F.L.’s first game in Germany, where they will face the Seahawks in Munich on Nov. 13 at 9:30 a.m. on NFL Network. It is part of the N.F.L.’s return overseas after it canceled games abroad in 2020 because of the pandemic. Baltimore Ravens at Jets, 1 p.m. Jacksonville Jaguars at Washington Commanders, 1 p.m. The league did not announce times for the divisional matchups in Week 18, as those games may be moved to prime time if they carry playoff implications. Philadelphia Eagles at Detroit Lions, 1 p.m. The Rams often played against Wilson during his tenure with the Seahawks, but the Christmas game will be the teams’ first encounter since Seattle dealt Wilson in March to the Broncos in a blockbuster trade. Led by Miller, quarterback Josh Allen and receiver Stefon Diggs, the Bills are Caesars Sportsbook’s betting favorite to win the Super Bowl, which will be hosted on Feb. 12, 2023, at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. The Chargers, with their blossoming young quarterback, Justin Herbert, added defensive support in the edge rusher Khalil Mack and cornerback J.C. Jackson, while Kansas City dealt the speedy receiver Tyreek Hill to the Dolphins in March after he requested a trade. Pittsburgh Steelers at Cincinnati Bengals, 1 p.m. The Rams, whose star-studded roster includes defensive tackle Aaron Donald, receiver Cooper Kupp and quarterback Matthew Stafford, have the toughest strength of schedule: The teams they will play won 57 percent of their games in the 2021 season. Teams have known their 2022 opponents for months based on their divisions and records last season, but the N.F.L. formally solidified dates and time slots after disclosing some of the matchups in recent weeks.

Five Takeaways From the NFL's Schedule Release (The Ringer)

Hats off to the NFL. It sure does know how to sell its product. Not only has the league turned the combine and draft into massive spectacles, ...

Amazon is breaking into this space as holders of the weekly TNF games and will broadcast all 15 of the league’s regular-season midweek contests. One of the first teams that comes to mind when thinking about the NFL in London is the Jaguars, who have two (2) winning seasons since the league started playing games there in 2007. And, of course, with Brady visiting Munich, history will be on the line. NBC has elevated Mike Tirico to be the play-by-play voice of Sunday Night Football. Tirico replaces broadcasting legend Al Michaels, who will now do Amazon Prime Video’s play-by-play alongside longtime college football voice Kirk Herbstreit. Let’s start with the Chiefs. Kansas City is a perennial contender with Patrick Mahomes and Co. having reached the AFC championship in each of the past four seasons, including two Super Bowl appearances and one championship. This is forecasting a bit, but the Browns will travel to face the Panthers in Week 1. When the NFL first pondered expanding its overseas footprint into Germany, perhaps you figured a lowly franchise from the East Coast, such as the Jets or Giants (sorry, y’all), would have been the pick. On paper, the defending champion Rams have it only a little easier. There are also a couple of other smaller grudge matches to open the season. Those starved aficionados will have to wait until September 8, when the defending champ Rams host the betting favorite Bills to open the new season in a potential Super Bowl preview. It will be strange seeing Wilson on the opposite sideline from Seattle. In prime time, we’ll learn whether Wilson or the Seahawks hold any hard feelings. Yet the NFL was still able to turn its prime-time schedule release into a buzzy, anticipated event.

2022 NFL schedule release: Patriots prime-time overkill, bumpy start ... (CBSSports.com)

Sure, this is all a little silly, but it does give us a bit more fodder to consider as we size up a 2022 season that is still nearly a third of a year away.

They face the Bengals on a Monday night in Week 8. - The Bucs face a challenge between Weeks 10-14. The Pats play Thanksgiving at the Vikingsthen again the following Thursday ( Bills) and the following Monday night ( Cardinals) and then on a Sunday night ( Raiders). Good grief. They host the Bucs andBengals, go to the Giants, host Washington and then travel to the Ramsand Eagles. Smells like 2-4. Perhaps the Jaguars got totally hosed and had ridiculous road trips thrust upon them and play successive teams coming off a bye four weeks in a row. Baltimore battles the entire AFC East in the first four weeks of the season.

2022 NFL schedule release, Week 1 odds, picks: History says to ... (CBSSports.com)

Of course, as we comb through this schedule, we also get our first look at the betting odds for these matchups in Week 1. Below, you'll find the initial odds ...

With no viable quarterback to combat him on the other side, Seattle gets left in the dust. The Buccaneers were a bad bet on the road in 2021, owning a 3-6 ATS mark for the year. While Dallas covered five of their nine home matchups last season, they had a margin of victory of 12 points, which was tied for the second-most in the NFL. The Cowboys have a top-tier defense to attack Tom Brady and plenty of weapons offensive to put up points. Meanwhile, Kirk Cousins is .500 in Week 1 as the starter for the Vikings and has lost the last two. Dating back to Super Bowl XXXIV, the Super Bowl loser is 8-13 SU and 4-17 ATS in the Week 1 opener. Not having DeAndre Hopkins (suspended) for the opener will hurt the Cardinals, but they find a way to cover. Meanwhile, the Patriots will be hoping for a Year 2 leap in Mac Jones, but defensively still have plenty of questions. This is a tough game to project as we don't know the status of Deshaun Watson for this game as he could still face punishment from the league. No matter who ultimately gets the nod, however, the 49ers should be looked at as a considerable favorite against Chicago. The Bears have a new head coach and a second-year quarterback that is lacking go-to weapons around him, so 2022 may be another down year as they continue this rebuild. Of course, as we comb through this schedule, we also get our first look at the betting odds for these matchups in Week 1. Dating back to Super Bowl XXXIV, the defending champions are 18-3 SU and 13-6-2 ATS in Week 1. The Week 1 slate is jam-packed with several high-profile matchups to get the season rolling on a high note.
