There’s lots of beating up bad guys on rooftops and zipping between buildings as well as a look at how the investigative elements work.

Batman Arkham spinoff Gotham Knights is now PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC only.

The game is no longer slated for release on last-generation consoles, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Warner Bros. announced Tuesday. The open-world action game is set in Gotham City, which no longer has its famous protector, Batman. Gotham Knights' open-world is briefly depicted with a look at two random crime events that players can thwart and resolve, such as an illegal hack or an illegal shipment.

Gotham Knights Devs Drop New 13-Minute Gameplay Video, Scrap ... (Kotaku)

Developer WB Games Montreal dropped a new Gotham Knights video showing gameplay for Nightwing and Red Hood, two of the four playable characters.

While each character is distinct, certain gadgets are shareable between them, like the Batcycle, a three-wheeled motorcycle the heroes can use on the city streets. Nightwing is acrobatic, ping-ponging between enemies on the battlefield. Maybe the Soul Energy bar is similar. From solving mysteries that connect the darkest chapters in the city’s history to defeating notorious villains in epic confrontations, you must evolve into the new Dark Knight and save the streets from descent into chaos. Nightwing interrupts a crime via a “mini-game mode with rules and optional objectives,” according to WB Games. He isn’t alone. The 13-minute video begins midway through the story, following Nightwing as he patrols Gotham City. It’s dark out, as usual, and he can be seen soaring through the air with his jet-fueled glider, the Flying Trapeze, an unlockable gadget the hero uses to get around the city.

A lot of questions for both this, and the four-player focused Suicide Squad as well, which are both diverging from the Arkham formula. I am curious how this will play as a solo player, rotating across the four heroes as opposed to having a bunch of friends in combat. Well, it’s finally starting to happen, and major AAA games are beginning to leave the last generation of consoles behind.

'Gotham Knights' release date, trailer, and gameplay for WB's ... (Inverse)

After nearly a year of teasing, a new Batman game called 'Gotham Knights' was revealed. Here's everything we know about the upcoming game.

Gotham Knights is not connected to the Batman: Arkham series. As of May 10, 2022, Gotham Knights is available to pre-order! The base edition will cost $70 and will simply include a copy of the game. This will be the primary way to play the game, as it’s designed with co-op in mind. The entire city will be open from the start. Gotham Knights will feature traversal using a wide range of methods, including the Bat-cycle, Nightwing’s glider called the Flying Trapeze, and Red Hood’s Mystical Leap. Aside from that, the recent trailer gave us a better look at the loot system, which allows players to equip various pieces of gear. A flurry of action sequences is also shown during this trailer, along with some teases of the game’s underlying mystery. Gotham Knights will be available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X This trailer focuses on the Court of Owls, a deadly group of criminals in Gotham City, and the main villains in this game. “Thank you to our amazing fans for your tremendous support of Gotham Knights. We look forward to sharing more of the game in the coming months.” It shows our four heroes in action, including Red Hood, Nightwing, Batgirl, and Robin. Despite the hooded look, this is Tim Drake's Robin. The Dark Knight's various protogés have become the new protectors of Gotham in his absence, and the action that ensues will play out in the upcoming Gotham Knights. While it’s arriving a bit later than expected, the game will deliver something different from any Batman game before it.

Gotham Knights Trailer Breakdown: The Good, The Bad, And The Bat (Game Informer)

Warner Bros. Montreal shared over 13 minutes of new Gotham Knights gameplay footage and it looks like more of a departure from the Arkham series than we ...

The movement appeared to be a little slow and jerky, but we'll have to see how it feels once we get our hands on it. We see Nightwing fire a projectile at a couple of barrels to create an explosion. He can also use a grapple, which latches onto specific environmental points, just like in the Arkham games. You'll find his battered mask on display in the belfry. In a cooperative session, we see two players teaming up against the Regulators in a different sequence. The belfry is their home base where crafting and mission planning take place. He calls it the Flying Trapeze, which is probably a bad name considering what happened at the circus. I don't doubt that, at some point in his comic career, Red Hood used a mystical leap ability, but it doesn't fit with the gadgets the Bat-family uses. The way he slides to them looks a little goofy, but his strikes appear to carry weight and are animated nicely. The video shows Nightwing's combat is all about momentum, which is supposedly like a pinball bouncing between enemies. The flow of combat, the density of the open world, and the overall dark vibe align nicely with the Arkham series, which this Montreal studio had a hand in with Arkham Origins. Now, the bad: It also reminded me of Crystal Dynamics' Marvel's Avengers game – solely based on the sheer amount of items needed to craft suits and powers. First, let's start with a positive: It has plenty of the Arkham formula in its coding.

Holy disappointment, Batman! Gotham Knights only coming to next ... (The A.V. Club)

The long-awaited follow-up to Batman: Arkham Knight will only be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox X/S.

Inspired by the “ Court Of Owls” arc from the 2011 DC reboot of Batman comics, Gotham Knights eschews the chronology from the four previous Arkham games and Batman entirely, a shame considering some people think he’s the best Batman ever. Instead, the game features Nightwing, Red Hood, Batgirl, and Robin, or three Robins and a Batgirl, to the layperson. Gotham Knights is the much-anticipated follow-up to 2015's Batman Arkham Knight, even if it’s the beginning of a whole new series. The upcoming Bat-family game, Gotham Knights, will only be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox X/S despite previous announcements. The team at WB Montréal finally released some serious game-play footage for the first time since 2020. After seven years of no Batman games, WB Games Montréal has finally released 13-minutes of footage from a new one.

Gotham Knights gameplay analysis: Examining combat, crafting ... (VG247)

WB Games Montreal's newest DC title, Gotham Knights, really is a departure from the Arkham games we know and love.

All four heroes can drive on the streets on a motorcycle, which appears to move quite sluggishly and heavily – not what you want from a two-wheeler, usually. Alongside the new footage, we learned that Gotham Knights will only launch on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC – forgoing a release on the last-gen consoles, PS4 and Xbox One, altoghether. Whilst that is good (it's always nice to have games that aren't constrained by old hardware), we'd have expected the footage on-show to be really impressive and flashy... Hm. That doesn't feel in-line with the Bat-family, really, but I suppose everyone needs a way to get around. And should you care about a Batman game that doesn't have Batman in it? In early May, we saw Red Hood and Nightwing take centre stage in a blowout new Gotham Knights gameplay trailer from from DC and WB Games Montreal. The video was our first proper look at the game in years, and really cleared up some questions we had about the title – but does it impress?

Gotham Knights Graphics Compared to Batman: Arkham Knight (Game Rant)

The latest gameplay demonstration for Gotham Knights has caused fans to reminisce upon Batman: Arkham Knight and compare both games' graphics.

Five months is certainly not a long time for development, and it is unclear how much more polished Gotham Knights will get before it releases. However, in the wake of Gotham Knights being exclusive to next-gen consoles, fans are upset about the graphical disparity that they perceive between Gotham Knights and Batman: Arkham Knight. It may be reasonably difficult for Gotham Knights fans to stifle their expectations in relation to the Batman: Arkham series.
