The PS5 version of the game is sitting at a very respectable 77 on Metacritic, with a slightly lower (but still sweet) user score of 7.4. Not bad at all.

Best and Worst Booking Decisions of WWE WrestleMania Backlash ... (Bleacher Report)

WWE WrestleMania Backlash 2022 was a throwback to the In Your House era in that it was very clearly a B or even C-level pay-per-view, rather than a true ...

If you skipped it and saw the predictable outcome of Rousey beating Flair coming, catching up on the quick results slide above was all you really needed to know. That leads to bad creative where you don't need to watch any of the television shows. With Madcap Moss and Happy Corbin, the clear side that needs more of a leg up is Moss. Beating Corbin isn't the equivalent of capturing a title, but it's a nice follow-up to his Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal victory. This also avoids the problem that WWE has wherein Creative doesn't seem to know what to do with Flair if she's not holding a title or challenging for one. If it didn't happen, everything would be the same as it was after WrestleMania. It will likely also lead to Ripley becoming one of the next challengers to Bianca Belair's title to provide for a much-needed fresh feud. Repeating the same match and just doing a different outcome is cheap. Yes, Omos won this one in part to make them "even" with each other, and used MVP's help because he's a heel, so that will get you to boo him and not respect him. Styles still would have had to fight a Hall of Famer who is more decorated in accolades than entire classes combined. This checks a few positives off the list. Rhea Ripley unveiled herself and is now a member of Judgment Day.

WWE WrestleMania Backlash 2022: Ranking and grading every match (Sportskeeda)

WWE may not have given WrestleMania Backlash the best build, but the show sure did deliver. This was one of the company's better efforts in 2022, ...

Cody Rhodes was not the runaway Match of the Night because it was that good. The two elite workers exceeded their WrestleMania match with another brilliant effort, which took pieces from it and enhanced the story. However, it does set up a potential third match inside Hell in a Cell, with Rollins having grounds to ask for a rematch. It is a testament to the entire event that Seth Rollins vs. Hopefully, this can help her kick on and enjoy a successful reign atop the SmackDown women's division following WrestleMania Backlash. From kendo stick fights on the stage to ringside brawls and even their fight in the crowd, Flair, and Rousey indeed went for each other. This was one of the company's better efforts in 2022, with no match being an outright flop. This match made up for it, with The Phenomenal One looking more vicious. Their 'I Quit' Match was supremely brutal and took place all around the arena. The former WWE Champion locked Omos in the deadly submission as well, but he got out of it. The two heavyweights slugged it out, with Reigns getting the upper hand on McIntyre by slamming him through the announce table. The future is bright for Madcap Moss in WWE, who still needs a gimmick change.

The Fiend trended on Twitter after Pat McAfee asked if the former WWE Superstar was sitting in the front row at WrestleMania Backlash.

Last month, McAfee referred to Butch as The Rabid Wolverine, a reference to a moniker previously used by a wrestler WWE definitely doesn't want its fans thinking about when watching the product. While Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair were brawling at ringside, what appears to be a child fan dressed as The Fiend was shown in the front row. While WWE might not have ackowledged McAfee's line, the fans certainly did.

WWE Seemingly Changes Stakes For Money In The Bank (Inside The Ropes)

WWE may have changed the prize for those competing in the upcoming Money In The Bank ladder matches according to an ad starring Cody Rhodes.

Previously the Royal Rumble winner was guaranteed – more often than not – to be in the main event of WrestleMania where they could challenge for a world championship. Now, previous Money In The Bank matches in WWE have technically afforded stars the opportunity to main event WrestleMania as they could call their shot and pick that as their title match. Previously, winning the Money In The Bank briefcase meant a WWE Superstar had won a title shot any time, anywhere, for the next calendar year.

WrestleMania Backlash: Five headlines coming out of WWE show (GiveMeSport)

WWE's first Premium Live Show since WrestleMania took place last night, as WrestleMania Backlash took place from Rhode Island. The event saw Ronda Rousey…

Referencing a fan at ringside who was dressed as his favourtie former WWE Superstar, McAfee quipped that ‘The Fiend’ is here when the fan came into shot. Yet, if last night is anything to go on, Judgement Day is in for the long haul as they welcomed a new member into the fold. With Edge as the leader, there was always a fear the allegiance with Damian Priest could be shorter lived down to Edge’s lighter WWE schedule. WWE have reported that Flair suffered a fracture of the radius following the armbar that made her tap out and lose her SmackDown crown. Perhaps with the ‘grandest stage of them all’ pressure and time restraints off their backs, each match was given a little bit more time and thought and it resulted in better outings in every encounter. Not only did The Bloodline get the win, but it was The Head of the Table who put the explanation mark on his WWE status by getting the pinfall on Riddle.

WrestleMania Backlash 2022 Review (Game Rant)

WWE's eventful follow-up to WrestleMania 38 is in the books, with a star-studded six-man main event and rematches galore!

WrestleMania Backlash was certainly a step up from the roller-coaster affair that was WrestleMania 38. It was the brutal, technical and ultimately personal affair fans had been hoping for at Mania. It felt like a fight, and the ending with Rousey going into full gear on Flair's already-injured arm was perfect given that she was fed up with Charlotte's completely condescending atittude going into and during the match. THOUGHTS: This was a definite improvement over their Mania match, with the extended time period allowing Edge to do more work on Styles' injured shoulder and negate his Phenomenal Forearm finisher, giving Styles even more of an uphill climb than in their Mania encounter. One of the Usos winning over Riddle would have at least continued the tease of unifying both sets of tag titles down the road, but that didn't come to pass either. It helped make for a more emotionally intense match, Rollins continually pushing Rhodes' buttons, while Cody became frustrated for perhaps the first time since his triumphant return to the WWE fold in trying to put Rollins away as soundly as he did at Mania. Rhodes out-cheating Rollins at the end to win was also good (although it may very well open up yet another match with Rollins), showing Rhodes is not so squeaky clean that he won't use heel tactics to pick up a win. THOUGHTS: This was a great opener to kick off the show.

'WrestleMania Backlash' Delivers Some Good Matches but Not ... (Sports Illustrated)

The only title match saw Ronda Rousey beat Charlotte Flair in an “I Quit” match to win the SmackDown women's title. The match was great, the best Rousey match ...

The obvious finish to WrestleMania Backlash was for Drew to hit Roman with the Claymore kick and actually pin him, setting up a challenger for this summer. The finish was preposterous but the match was good. It’s especially weird because years ago, The Miz and Daniel Bryan had a great feud building up on Talking Smack, but Vince McMahon immediately nixed it, because he doesn’t like to tease matches that he cannot deliver (Bryan was considered permanently retired at the time). Here, he had no issue teasing the match and not delivering, and at this point it’s not like the match is just delayed; as of this weekend, it was off the books altogether. Fans speculated that perhaps WWE would add a stipulation where all the belts were on the line in the match (Roman holds the unified world and universal titles), but no, it was changed to just a six-man tag team match with no stipulations. The irony is that for weeks WWE advertised a unification match with RK-Bro and The Usos squaring off with both the SmackDown and Raw tag team titles on the line, and then, just over a week ago, the company shot an angle to add Reigns and Drew McIntyre to the match, making it a six-man tag. What was amazing about this decision is that it was not the usual “plans change”; instead, the idea from Day One was that it would just be a nontitle six-man, but the company still spent weeks teasing a title unification match it had no plans to deliver.

Who Will WWE Line Up to Challenge the Unstoppable Roman ... (Sports Illustrated)

The card opened with Cody Rhodes defeating Seth Rollins, which was the match of the night. Rhodes has infused excitement into WWE programming since his return ...

There needs to be a build to his ascent to the main event, but the company also needs to strike while the timing is right. A telling detail of WWE’s future plans will be the winner of Money in the Bank, which is scheduled for July 2. Yes, he ate the pin at the end of the match—yet he also had the most high-spots, the most saves and the most attention throughout the match. Heyman is even more captivating with Reigns than he was with Lesnar. Their work is so progressive, and that promo in Trenton was another example of their magic, instantly making the six-man tag at Backlash more compelling. That makes sense, considering he is the face of the company—why muddy the waters with another men’s world champ? Rhodes believed he could be a legitimate main-event star, so he left the company and proved it. Immediately putting him in the ring across from Rollins was brilliant, as Rollins is so talented that he continues to dazzle even when he is losing. Perhaps The Rock will return, but even if that happens, it would be built around next year’s WrestleMania in Los Angeles. A lot of time exists between now and then. He began as the universal champion, and now also holds the WWE title. That’s a part of the beauty of their relationship—they come from two vastly different generations, yet merge their talents to form this incredible alliance. Rhodes and Rollins have tremendous chemistry together, and their match at Backlash made a great deal of sense. This was a night when a number of key players—Becky Lynch, Bianca Belair, Sasha Banks, Kofi Kingston, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Rey Mysterio and Shinsuke Nakamura, to name just a few—weren’t even on the six-match card, further illustrating the depth of the roster.

Nikki tagged in and went ballistic on The Boss. We returned to see Rhodes come close to getting the pin with a moonsault. They locked up and fought for control until Theory scored a takedown and did a cartwheel to celebrate. The Prize Fighter attacked him, but Zeke fought back and got him in the corner. KO actually came out in a wig and claimed to be Ken Owens, Kevin's older brother. In fact, it looked like Balor might win before Edge attacked him and caused a disqualification. - Edge seemed to lean less into the supernatural stuff for this promo and came across as more of an angry and resentful heel instead. She hit a flurry of quick offensive maneuvers but failed to keep Ripley down for the three-count. Ford and Riddle started for their teams with a quick exchange that led to Ford getting a little bit of heat from the crowd. - Orton said he and Riddle still wanted to unify the tag titles during his promo.

Bloodline Is a Top 5 All-Time WWE Faction, More WrestleMania ... (Bleacher Report)

Another premium live event, another display of dominance by The Bloodline. Roman Reigns and The Usos' victory over Drew McIntyre and Raw tag team champions ...

There is no act in WWE that has been as dominant as The Bloodline has for as long, without fans growing tired or bored with them. Two years of beatdowns and ass-whooping and The Bloodline still has room to grow and evolve. He was the guy that newcomers and young stars had to beat in order to advance up the card. In WWE, The American Nightmare is treated like the main event star he was from day one in AEW. With Vince McMahon overseeing his push, Rhodes has been treated like the megastar he is. They have already established themselves in that conversation and are really only getting started. He is creative, physical and has a knack for the dramatic—all aspects of a great worker in today's wrestling landscape. There was no denying The Bloodline's dominance over the last two years entering Sunday's main event, regardless of how the main event of WrestleMania Backlash played out. Capped by a fantastic six-man tag that saw The Bloodline (more on them in a bit) defeat RK-Bro and Drew McIntyre to continue their impressive run, WrestleMania Backlash was a show that cut out spectacle and showmanship in favor of good, old-fashioned professional wrestling. Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins kicked the night off with a Match of the Year candidate and never looked back. They put together a dramatic match that had fans thinking The Visionary may actually pull off the upset. On top of that, as he discussed in the recently dropped Steve Austin: Broken Skull Sessions episode, he became somewhat of a one-dimensional gatekeeper character. Rollins worked a style that complemented what his opponent does well while never sacrificing his own skill set.

WWE Raw results, recap, grades: Seth Rollins costs Cody Rhodes ... (CBSSports.com)

Heading into Raw on Monday night, the only advertised segment was a match between United States champion Theory and Cody Rhodes with the title on the line.

IT'S .........— WWE (@WWE) #WWERaw pic.twitter.com/gzkE2iRiz3 May 10, 2022 - Bianca Belair def. - Ciampa def. - Sasha Banks & Naomi def. AJ Styles was at ringside and helped Balor fight off Edge and Priest before Ripley stopped Edge, knowing he couldn't strike her, which allowed Edge to hit Styles with a spear as Priest also hit a leg sweep. Liv Morgan via submission with a reverse Texas cloverleaf. The Street Profits via pinfall to retain the titles. The bigger problem is that there's no real reason to want to see Rhodes vs. Theory (c) via disqualification after interference from Seth Rollins. Rhodes appeared moments from winning the title when Rollins ran in and attacked Rhodes. The disqualification meant that Theory would retain his title. That left WWE needing the obvious cheap finish to the only match they announced heading into the show. The match would not see a clean finish, however, thanks to interference from Seth Rollins. Rhodes, of course, would later describe his own intentions to dethrone Theory and become champion.

Why WWE Fans Will Probably See Less Of Roman Reigns Going ... (Cinema Blend)

WWE champion Roman Reigns is a frequent face of the organization, but that may change soon.

He grew up on Star Wars, DC, Marvel, and pro wrestling and loves to discuss and dissect most of it. Of course, this is all also assuming that he doesn’t land some big-time Hollywood role like his cousin Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, which could also reduce his television appearances. That recovery time is particularly important, especially since any severe injury he'd suffer would immediately put the fate of the WWE’s largest titles up in the air.
