Minnesota Wild sign Pavel Novak to rookie contract (Hockey Wilderness)

Before a summer full of inevitable transactions, we are getting a sweet little taste — some transaction hors d'oeuvres — in the middle of the playoffs.

Minnesota selected just five players in the 2020 draft, after moving around some picks and trying to get higher up the board, and it seems like they might get a decent haul now. The 20-year-old Czech winger was drafted in the fifth round of the 2020 NHL Draft at 146th overall, and is yet another hopeful offensive tool that the Wild can add to their bulging cupboard of young players. While playing for the WHL’s Kelowna Rockets this past season, Novak scored 29 goals and 72 points in 62 games.

The Minnesota Wild have signed Pavel Novak to a three-year entry-level contract that starts next season. A talented offensive player, he had 29 goals and 72 points in 62 games this season, while also taking a short break to attend the World Junior tournament that was ultimately postponed. That kind of play is actually rather uncommon for Novak, who was given just 14 penalty minutes this season when he returned to the WHL after spending 2020-21 back in the Czech Republic.

A win Tuesday, and there’s a one-game buffer before a potential winner-take-all Game 7 at Xcel Energy Center. The Wild was one of the best home teams in the NHL in the regular season, at 31-8-2. "We have to keep our sticks on the ice and we shouldn’t put ourselves in that position. "It’s just bring our mind back to the next game." "We just have to focus on the next game now.

Minnesota's Patience Cost Them Game 4 (Zone Coverage)

The Minnesota Wild knew that after they embarrassed the St. Louis Blues on home ice, St. Louis was going to return in Game 4 with a lot of desperation. In.

The Wild gave themselves the ability to play with less urgency than the Blues after winning Game 3. We had a lot of sustained time in the third period, and lot’s of good looks and chances, but it was a little bit too late. “It’s the Minnesota Wild that didn’t get to our game quick enough,” Evason added. But the longer the Wild allowed the Blues to play their game, the worse it would get for Minnesota. In Game 3, the Wild seemed to have made the right adjustments by playing smart and aggressive on the forecheck to stifle the Blues’ high-powered offense. Except the counterpunch was more of a light jab than a haymaker.

Wild Attempt Comeback But Fall Short in Game 4 Loss to Blues (The Hockey Writers)

The Minnesota Wild played a decent game but couldn't secure the win as they fell in Game 4 to the Blues and the series tied 2-2.

Mariah Holland is a contributing Minnesota Wild writer for THW. She’s been covering the Wild at THW since October of 2020 and specializes in game takeaways and weekly check-ins. The Blues will be without former Wild defenseman Marco Scandella who left Game 4 with a lower-body injury after just returning to the lineup in Game 3 from a previous injury. When looking at the final shot totals, 30 shots isn’t the worst number in the world but since the Wild are in the postseason, they have to shoot as much as possible. With their recent win, the Blues will probably stick with Binnington. While the Wild did figure out ways to score on him, it just wasn’t enough. While they had such a low shot total, the Blues didn’t waste any time and peppered Fleury with almost four times that, resulting in 18 shots on goal. Not only did he snatch a goal, but he was also one of the players who had very good stickwork all game which earned him three shots on goal. The third period started out in the Wild’s favor with an early goal to get them back within one and gave them a jumpstart in energy. The Wild had a number of chances but couldn’t get any past Jordan Binnington in the middle frame. If the Wild can get those two things back under control, it’ll help as they head back home for Game 5. None of these high-sticking penalties resulted directly in goals but it’s never good to have some of your top scorers in the penalty box. They got the scoring started just four minutes into the first period and this time the Wild were on their heels until 10 minutes later when they answered to tie it up at one. The Minnesota Wild were riding a high after a win in Game 3 but Game 4 did not start with the same kind of jump.

The Blues are slowly starting to get healthy on the back end. If the Wild ultimately decide to throw a new face into the mix, Evason emphasized that it won’t necessarily be because someone played poorly. Are you doing it for the right reasons? Wild Address Special Team Struggles Ahead Of Game 5 At Home (WCCO | CBS Minnesota)

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) — The Minnesota Wild's loss Sunday evens the series with the Blues at two games apiece. They return home for game five Tuesday.

Tides seemed to turn in game two when the Wild lit the lamp twice in the first period with the extra attacker. Having said that, we have to keep our sticks on the ice and we shouldn’t put ourselves in that position. Evason acknowledged the season-long special teams woes after game one, when they allowed two-man advantage tallies and went 0-6 on their own.
