- SmackDown Women's Championship -- Charlotte Flair (c) vs. - Seth Rollins vs. RK-Bro, the Raw tag team champions, and The Usos, SmackDown tag team champions, have regularly delivered WWE's best matches and microphone segments on a week-to-week basis.
WWE WrestleMania Backlash 2022 could be a turning point for Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, Ronda Rousey and other top stars.
By virtually all accounts, that isn’t going to happen until one of the company’s massive stadium shows a few months from now, with the idea being that this bout is one that can draw in fans to Peacock and the stadium itself. That was certainly a head-scratching booking move that halted Rousey’s momentum before it even got started, and since then, this rivalry that is supposed to be a blood feud between two of WWE’s top stars has been amazingly disappointing, if not downright boring. That means that Rhodes needs to beat Rollins again on Sunday and solidify himself as a legitimate main eventer in WWE after crossing over from AEW. On the other hand, WWE clearly sees big things in Omos’ future, and another loss for the colossal superstar—after he suffered his first defeat at WrestleMania—would deliver a knockout blow to any chance of him being taken seriously. On one hand, Lashley has been so great as a top star on Raw over the past two years that he shouldn’t be losing to someone who is as lackluster in the ring as Omos is. If you look at Raw’s roster, it’s incredibly top heavy, and WWE has made a massive financial investment in Edge, meaning that he needs to be pushed accordingly.
WWE WrestleMania Backlash: Here's everything you need to know ahead of WWE Backlash pay-per-view.
The second will be a six-man tag team match featuring Drew McIntyre, Raw Tag Team champs RK-Bro vs WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and The Usos. The other marquee contest will be a six-man tag match. Flair and Rousey's rivalry goes back to WrestleMania when The Baddest Woman on the Planet made the Women's Champion tap out.
It may have been a month ago that the WWE Universe was forced to sit through a two-night event full of filler, but the company is ready to run it back with ...
With Moss needing a victory more for credibility, he will be the winner, drawing the ire of wrestling fans. While polarizing among wrestling fans, Flair is one of the greatest women's wrestlers in history already and has brought relevance to the blue brand's title. The problem for WrestleMania Backlash and wrestling fans is that WWE is only worried about protecting their champion at all costs, even if it means hurting the other performers involved.
Wrestlemania Backlash comes live from the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, RI. We break down what to watch and how to watch.
The “Queen” had to cheat to retain against Rousey at Wrestlemania, thus setting up this match where there will be an undisputed winner. The show will begin at 8 p.m. ET and will be streamed live on Peacock. Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair will once again defend her title against Ronda Rousey in the main event, this time in an I Quit match.

Perhaps WWE should rename WrestleMania Backlash something more honest, like WrestleMania Rerun. A lineup comprised almost entirely of rematches that just ...
But in order to get to any of that, the babyfaces have to win here. For the purposes of this story, though, WWE only wants fans to focus on the most recent outcome. That would ruin her character, whereas Flair has already submitted numerous times in previous matches and even tapped out to Rousey when the referees weren't around. This feud either ends with Moss getting the win here and both of them moving on to something else, or Corbin seeks a rematch for an episode of SmackDown in the coming weeks or even the Hell in a Cell event. Styles, the next chapter in the feud between Omos and Bobby Lashley is a softball. Rhodes could very well beat Rollins a second time and put this feud to bed, or even win a third match, if necessary. It only exists to kill time and drag this story out. More than likely, it was decided WWE didn't want to "waste" Roman Reigns defending the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Drew McIntyre on a do-nothing pay-per-view like this. Whether RK-Bro and The Usos have their previously scheduled title unification remains to be seen. However, the big swerve could be that someone else interferes, costs Styles the match and joins Edge's faction, as it is only Priest who is banned from ringside and not someone like T-Bar or Ciampa. Moss needs the win more, and Corbin, as the more seasoned performer and the heel, is better suited at continuing the feud after a loss. Now that Omos has MVP by his side, there is absolutely zero logic in Lashley winning this match.
Four rematches from April's card are set for Sunday night: Charlotte Flair vs. Ronda Rousey, Seth Rollins vs. Cody Rhodes, AJ Styles vs. Edge and Bobby Lashley ...
Rhodes entered the ring, sprung off the ropes and nailed Rollins with the Cody Cutter. Rhodes ducked the pedigree, Rollins countered and planted him with a superkick. Rollins rolled up Rhodes with the tights; however, Rhodes rolled through and grabbed the tights for a three-count. Rollins rolled into the combination Falcon Arrow set-up but Rhodes transitioned into a Cross Rhodes. Rhodes hooked the leg for the pinfall but Rollins' foot was under the ropes. Rhodes dropped to his back and popped Rollins in the throat, faceplanted him off an extended suplex spot and then nailed him with the Disaster Kick. Rhodes attempted the Disaster Kick a second time and was firmly shoved over the ropes and to the outside. Rollins made the mistake of mimicking Dusty Rhodes' moveset and Rhodes planted him with a Cross Rhodes. Rhodes transitioned for a second one but Rollins escaped. Rhodes ducked a strike and clotheslined Rollins out of the ring. Rhodes dived off the rope but Rollins moved out of the way and "The American Nightmare" ate the barricade. Buckle Bomb from Rollins! Rollins climbed the ropes and delivered a high-elevation Frog Splash. A near fall for Rollins but Rhodes kicked out in the nick of time. Seth Rollins: Rhodes and Rollins exchanged holds to begin the match with Rollins generally getting the better of the counters. Styles dodged a spear and Edge went into the exposed buckle. Spear into the corner by Lashley! "The Almighty" tied up Omos' arms in the ropes and pummelled him with unprotected strikes. Edge slammed Styles. Edge set up for The Spear but Styles countered and planted Edge with the Styles Clash. A close two-count for Styles. Damian Priest emerged but remained on the aisle way as he was banned from ringside.
WrestleMania Backlash is unusually bereft of title matches, but there is one in Ronda Rousey's challenge for Charlotte Flair's SmackDown Women's Championship in ...
Rollins attempted a roll up, pulling on Rhodes tights, but Rhodes reversed the roll up into one of this own and, with a fistful of Rollins tights, got the three count. Rhodes countered, yanking Rollins into a Cross Rhodes. He tried to roll into a second one, but Rollins caught Rhodes with a knee. For the first half of the match, Rollins was one step ahead of Rhodes. It's not just that Rollins got heat on Rhodes, but that Rollins had a counter for all of Rhode's attempted offense. The commentators did a good job at explaining that Rollins had clearly watched tape on Rhodes and had prepared for his moves. The two then brawled on the outside. Omos then gave a dazed Lashley a two-handed chokeslam for the win.
WWE is back for its first post-Wrestlemania PPV on Sunday with backlash at the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, RI. Here are the final results from the ...
Superplexes, kickouts of both the Crossroads and the Pedigree, a bunch of high-flying action — these two just put on incredible matches. Omos followed that up with a tree slam to get the 1-2-3. Edge capitalized with a crossface hold that put Styles out cold. Finn Balor then raced out to take out Priest. There are six matches on the card, five of which are rematches from WrestleMania. The show will open with the second encounter between Cody Rhodes and Seth “Freakin’” Rollins. Other rematches include AJ Styles versus Edge; Bobby Lashley versus Omos; and Charlotte Flair taking on Ronda Rousey for the Smackdown Women’s Championship. But this time, those two will battle in an “I Quit” match. And they will be settled tonight on WrestleMania Backlash.
WrestleMania Backlash 2022 takes place tonight at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island as WWE's first pay-per-view post-WrestleMania 38.
That match and Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins are expected to get the most time on the show. Fightful Select's Sean Ross Sapp managed to get the reported match order to the show, which can see below.
WWE's WrestleMania Backlash takes place tonight at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island, marking WWE's first major event since last month's ...
The dude's been taking so many clean losses that it's become kind of ridiculous, and with the Demon always lingering there's a chance that a story where Edge channels that into Balor could be fun. A heel turn could finally give him back the edge he had during his second NXT run. However, I could also see Omos being a great follow-up to the Reigns/Lesnar rivalry. Matt: All signs point towards Drew McIntyre being the next person to challenge Reigns' dominance. Connor: Not having Reigns defend the title at Backlash in Providence is one thing, but Hell in a Cell is up next and it's in Chicago so they'll have to do something with him. As long as Cody continues to put on stellar matches his first year back in WWE should go smoothly. Nick: If we're doing numbers, I'm giving it a full 10/10. I'm completely sold on Rhodes from top to bottom, and putting him against some of the best heels in the company in just his first month alone has made Raw so much more entertaining as a result. WWE has continued to let Cody be Cody in everything from presentation to promos, and they've made him feel like the big deal he's supposed to be. Evan: Unlike my stance on the WWE Championship sitting this one out, this is at least a slight blow to the show overall. Connor: Severely. It was the biggest match on the show that both had stakes and wasn't just a rematch from WrestleMania last month. Matt Aguilar: I don't necessarily care if the WWE Championship is being defended if there are other titles in the mix, but in this case, there is only the SmackDown Women's Championship up for grabs, and only one Championship match on the card does feel a little light. And when your main event feels like a house show headliner or the end to a pretty good SmackDown episode, it's hard to get excited.
The WWE WrestleMania Backlash 2022 event featured four WrestleMania rematches including one title match and a six-man tag team main event with five ...
Moss charged, Corbin with a knee and Moss caught Corbin with a fallaway slam for two. Lashley wanted a suplex, Omos with a punch and Omos went off the ropes leading to Lashley hitting a spinebuster. Corbin got a kick to the chest to stun Moss a bit and then Corbin hit a massive Chokeslam. Moss was out on the floor, so Corbin kneed him in the back to send Moss into the ring post. Flair got cocky at the end while standing over a chair, so Rousey used it to her advantage leading to the armbar with the chair and then the final twist leading to Flair losing. Edge applied an armbar on the mat, Styles drove Edge to the corner and then Edge sent Styles into the turnbuckle. Rollins with a back elbow to the head, Cody slipped out of a Pedigree tease and Rollins got a kick leading to a superkick to Cody’s head for a two count. Rollins with a slap to the back of the head, so Cody came back with a punch along with more punches and Rollins left the ring. Cody sent Rollins back into the ring, Cody went up top and went for a moonsault that missed because Rollins moved out of the way. Back in the ring, Lashley with a running kick to the leg followed by a flatliner sending Omos into the mat. Rollins tried to cheat to win, Cody rolled out of that and Cody was able to cheat to win, so it was payback for Cody in a way that makes sense because he was doing what Rollins tried to do. Cody with a punch to the head, then he went for a move off the ropes, but Rollins was there to shove Cody over the top to the floor. Rollins with a roaring elbow, then an elbow to the back of the head and a Falcon Arrow by Rollins for two.

The American Nightmare is a -300 favorite to defeat The Architect, who enters as a +200 underdog. Bobby Lashley handed Omos his first clean loss back at WrestleMania 38, and he'll look to pull off another upset at WrestleMania Backlash. However, Omos is the massive favorite here at -500, while The Almighty enters as a +300 underdog. Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women's Championship. The Baddest Woman on the Planet is a major favorite at -700 to defeat The Queen, who comes in as a +400 underdog.

The final stretch of the match was as packed with action as it could be, culminating with Roman spearing Riddle in half for the victory. Anyway, as for this match, And I find it kind of funny, and I find it kind of sad. There's been a lot of high-octane action tonight, and with six men in the match you would normally expect that here. The match was nothing to write home about and probably went on a few minutes too long. This match is an oddity because, in theory, Madcap Moss is supposed to be the lovable babyface, but that's just not the case. It was a solid match, and an "I Quit" match that didn't get too over-the-top. So I've been enjoying this match for what it is, and when Charlotte put the mic up to Ronda and Ronda said, "Never b****," I lost my mind. So the big story here is that AJ Smiles' arm is hurt and that comes into play a lot--especially when Smile is trying to put Edge into a variety of submissions. As for the match itself, it's two of the best in the industry doing their thing. It was a complete surprise to see Cody get the win here, as Seth winning made more sense--to get a rubber match at the next PPV. Regardless, I don't see anything topping this match tonight. Mat: Wrestlemania did something very important: it put Chris and I in the same room for the first time in a little more than two years. If you want to watch a replay of Wrestlemania Backlash live, you'll need the streaming service Peacock. While it does have a free tier, you will not be able to watch the WWE event through that.
SmackDown Women's Championship -- Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Ronda Rousey ("I Quit" Match): After Flair scored a cheap win over Rousey at WrestleMania, a rematch ...
WWE later confirmed the six-man tag team match, but there was no mention of the tag team titles, casting doubts on the unification match. Rousey upped the stakes of the rematch on SmackDown, when she challenged Flair to an "I Quit" match. Sonya Deville: Deville abused her power as a WWE official to name herself Belair's next title challenger. The card seems as though it will focus on a mix of fresh matchups and rematches of bouts from WrestleMania. That includes a rematch between Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair for Flair's SmackDown women's championship. That weekend saw Moss win the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal while Corbin lost to Drew McIntyre. Jealousy overcame Corbin and he set his sights on his friend, setting up a one-on-one showdown between the former tag partners. Ronda Rousey ("I Quit" Match): After Flair scored a cheap win over Rousey at WrestleMania, a rematch was a certainty.
The six-man tag team match to close the show blew the roof off in Providence, RI.
Riddle dove onto Reigns and Jimmy. Riddle and Jey exchanged moves in the ring. Reigns cheap-shotted Riddle and antagonized Orton, setting up McIntyre to land the Claymore Kick. The audience roared for Orton, who tagged in and punished The Usos with his signature powerslams. Riddle dove onto Reigns and Jimmy. Riddle and Jey exchanged moves in the ring. Moss took the lead with an explosive spear in the corner and then chucked Corbin with a fallaway slam. Riddle and Jey tagged into the match and Riddle exploded to life. Flair then repeatedly struck Rousey and planted the challenger with a Natural Selection against the chair in the ring. Styles dodged a spear and Edge went into the exposed buckle. Rhodes entered the ring, sprung off the ropes and nailed Rollins with the Cody Cutter. Rhodes ducked the pedigree, Rollins countered and planted him with a superkick. After a spear into the corner by Lashley, "The Almighty" tied up Omos' arms in the ropes and pummeled him with unprotected strikes. Lashley took off for the match-ending spear but Omos dodged it and MVP struck Lashley with his cane while the referee was distracted. Rollins rolled up Rhodes with the tights; however, Rhodes rolled through and grabbed the tights for a three-count. Rhodes popping Rollins in the throat, faceplanting him off an extended suplex spot and then hitting a Disaster Kick. Rhodes attempted the Disaster Kick a second time and was firmly shoved over the ropes and to the outside.
What does that mean for Reigns going forward? It appeared that WWE was setting up a future WWE Universal Championship match between Reigns and McIntyre, which ...
Rollins attempted a roll up, pulling on Rhodes tights, but Rhodes reversed the roll up into one of this own and, with a fistful of Rollins tights, got the three count. Styles protested to the ref, saying Priest was barred from ringside, but Priest said he was on the ramp and not the ringside. For the first half of the match, Rollins was one step ahead of Rhodes. It's not just that Rollins got heat on Rhodes, but that Rollins had a counter for all of Rhode's attempted offense. Edge then got Styles in the crossface and Styles passed out. The commentators did a good job at explaining that Rollins had clearly watched tape on Rhodes and had prepared for his moves. On the inside, she slammed Rousey's face into the chair with a Natural Selection. Flair put Rousey in a Figure Eight, but Rousey broke it up by grabbing the chair and hitting Flair in the hip with it. The story going into this match is that AJ has a damaged shoulder following an attack from Edge and Priest on Raw a couple weeks back. Back at ringside, Flair went to the top rope and began to go for a Moonsault outside. Flair set up a chair in the middle of the ring and grabs the mic. He got a hot tag into the match, planting Jimmy Uso with the middle rope DDT and setting him up for an RKO. Jey Uso tried to break it up, but Orton threw him out. Reigns would get his revenge on Orton. Later Orton was battling with Jey Uso on the outside, setting up to slam him on the announcer's table. The first part saw The Bloodline work over Riddle. It set a slow pace, but that picked up once Reigns and McIntyre got in the ring.
WrestleMania Backlash also featured an “I Quit” Match for the SmackDown Women's Championship between Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair. Rousey won the match with ...
Roman Reigns picked up the win over Riddle in the finish, which is fitting because this match simultaneously built up to Reigns vs. McIntyre and Reigns vs. Despite doing a good job of building up to Roman Reigns vs. Corey Graves described it as “beating Superman to the punch.” Randy Orton vs. Randy Orton at Allegiant Stadium for Money in the Bank. While it shared a name with The Most Stupendous Two-Night Event in WrestleMania History, WrestleMania Backlash did not feel as special as last month's show.
Intercontinental champion Ricochet has not been either of the last two PPVs. With just six matches on this card, it was up to a small section of the WWE roster to deliver. She built a story with Sonya Deville that played out on Raw and missed this PPV entirely. With more story behind the action, they outshined their WrestleMania clash and set the stage for a third contest soon. However, they are not defending the titles until Friday's SmackDown. This is thanks to presentation and booking.
What many considered a simple rehash of WrestleMania matches and uninteresting rivalries instead resulted in the best WWE pay-per-view of 2022 to date, ...
On top of it all, we got a brilliant main event featuring six of the best WWE has to offer. McIntyre was spared a loss as Reigns pinned The Original Bro following a Spear from out of nowhere. Rousey entered the industry via a five-star Match of the Year with Kurt Angle vs. In doing so, he ensured the feud with his perceived top contender has legs beyond Sunday's PPV. She fits the group's dark, brooding aesthetic and has the same edge of danger her teammates in Judgment Day possess. Ripley can be for Judgment Day what previous factions did not have: a presence in the women's division. He was fresh off a lengthy run with Impact Wrestling, where he improved his in-ring skills but had still not developed into the wrestler he needed to be to achieve consistent excellence in a main event role. Too often, she has seemed uncertain since her return at the Royal Rumble in January. Today, The Bloodline has a stranglehold on SmackDown and its titles. Wrestling history is brimming with great factions and stables that have dominated different divisions. Two things needed to happen in the main event of WrestleMania Backlash: The six men involved needed a great match to dampen any criticisms of what was, effectively, a house-show headliner, and WWE Creative had to protect the Roman Reigns-Drew McIntyre match that central to its storytelling in the future. The best match of WrestleMania 38 saw Cody Rhodes make a triumphant return to WWE and defeat Seth Rollins in a genuine Match of the Year candidate.

Welcome to Bleacher Report's coverage and recap of WWE WrestleMania Backlash 2022. WWE had originally booked a tag title unification match between The Usos ...
- Jey took out Orton on the apron with a superkick at one point, and the way The Viper sold it was hilarious. Everybody was fighting in and around the ring. Then he tagged in Jey and told the crowd he was the shot-caller and would do things his way. Even without any titles on the line, this still felt like a bout that was worthy of closing the event. The Viper came in off the hot tag and began to run through everyone. - The sunset flip Moss used to win was about as textbook as it gets. The crowd was hot and chanting before they even made contact. The All Mighty tried to go after MVP, but Omos put a stop to it by pulling him back in the ring by his head. - The camera angle when Rollins slapped Rhodes in the back of the head before The American Nightmare turned around and decked him was perfect. - The kick Corbin hit to the leg almost looked like a low blow at first. Omos was unable to beat him back until MVP got on the apron to provide a distraction. He had a chip on his shoulder from his 'Mania loss, so it made perfect sense for him to be the aggressor.
WWE presents WrestleMania rematches better than they were the first time.
The two went back and forth, Seth went for a pin attempt with all of Cody’s tights in his hands, only for Cody to reverse that with his own pin attempt. Omos got the W in a very meh match. The story here was very simple: Seth proved a much harder task for Cody now that the former was properly prepped. Charlotte was hoisted on her own petard since she not only brought the chair into the match, but planned to break Ronda’s arm in a similar fashion and gave the most sinister Happy Mother’s Day wish this side of the movie Mothers’s Day. Ronda is your new SmackDown Women’s champ. There were enough distractions and shenanigans to make the L acceptable in the eyes of fans, plus the story is nowhere done yet. It was my favorite moment of the match AJ mustered his remaining strength to hang Edge over the top rope, then putting him in the position for the Styles Clash. Using the ropes as leverage and do the heavy lifting was ingenious. Finn Balor rushed to ringside and brawled with Priest. Full disclosure, I figured Finn was out for the swerve. The man is extra over in every arena, and that was no different in Rhode Island. He was easily the biggest favorite in this match, and the RKO he hit on Roman when the match broke down was not only out of nowhere, but a thing of beauty. But the match leading to her reveal was worthy of Edge and AJ Styles. So, let’s talk about that and then get back to Rhea. Shall we? AJ did his best to get Edge into a Styles Clash but it was obvious he just didn’t have the strength for it. While I wasn’t excited about the prospect of a match before, I am intrigued now. “Kick in the Door” was the Notorious B.I.G.’s warning to emcees everywhere.
WWE WrestleMania Backlash 2022: Ronda Rousey forced Charlotte Flair to quit by locking her in an armbar using the chair to generate more impact.
Eventually, Rousey forced Flair to quit by locking her in an armbar using the chair to generate more impact. In the main event, The Bloodline (Roman Reigns and The Usos) defeated the team of Drew McIntyre and the RK Bro (Randy Orton and Riddle) in a six-man tag team action. WWE WrestleMania Backlash 2022: Ronda Rousey finally had her hands on WWE SmackDown Women's Championship as she defeated Charlotte Flair in a “I Quit” match at WWE Backlash. Kendo sticks and chairs were used during the course of the action as the wrestlers brawled around the arena - inside the ring, the ramp, also in the stairwell at one point.
On tap for tonight's show is Seth Rollins vs. Cody Rhodes, Bobby Lashley vs. Omos, AJ Styles vs. Edge, Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte Flair in an I Quit match for ...
Uso goes to the top-rope after that but Riddle recovers and leaps to the top in a single jump, connecting with a RKO out of nowhere. He turns right around to a Spear from Reigns, who follows up with the cover and the pin fall victory. They end up landing hard on the ground below and each are down for a bit before re-engaging in this one while the fans selfishly chant "We want tables!" He starts to knock the big man backwards and as he nearly knocks him out of the ring, he opts instead to tie up the big arms of the giant and unloading on him with a free range of punches. Riddle fires up and goes into Viper mode, pounding the mat as he waits for Uso to get up. Rousey ends up snatching an armbar through the ring ropes, draping down as Charlotte is half-way to the top and stuck upside down hanging from the turnbuckles. We see Lashley catch him and he goes out to the floor to make him pay. Edge takes over from there, and ends up catching Styles on the mat with a crossface attempt. We go to a commercial break and when we return, the commentary trio of Smith, Graves and Saxton talk about tonight's main event. On that note, we head down to the ring and get ready for our opening contest of the evening. This includes the package for the main event and then analysis on The Bloodline vs. The pre-show panelists wrap things up and the Kickoff Show comes to an end.
