Actor John Krasinski recently admitted that he was terrified during his directorial debut episode of the NBC smash hit sitcom, The Office.
Although Krasinski describes how he allowed the cast to perform the material in their own way, refraining from any notes of instruction, Kinsey recalled that the actor was a "natural" in the role. The actor explained that he was excited about the challenge as he had never directed an episode of television before, but was terrified due to the fact that he had to direct his friends. Although Krasinski is most known for his work on the sitcom, he has further made a name for himself behind the camera. In 2010, Krasinski jumped at the challenge to direct his very first episode of television with The Office's season 6 episode 15 "Sabre," the 115th episode of the show. "What was it like directing 'Sabre'? It was a dream. During an episode of the Office Ladies podcast (via Mashable), Fischer and Angela Kinsey — who played accountant Angela Martin — reminisced about the episode "Sabre." Although Krasinski could not join in on the podcast, he provided a recorded message reflecting on his time directing the episode.
Krasinki directed three episodes during his time on the long-running NBC series.
“Directing this episode was so very special, and I will truly never forget it.” “What was it like directing ‘Sabre’? It was a dream. I was somehow lucky enough to drop right into the most immense pool of talent that I could ever ask for.” “I personally was terrified, because I had to direct all of you. Krasinski recently sat down with the Office Ladies podcast, hosted by former co-stars Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey, to chat about his experience directing his first episode of The Office. I had zero experience in this business in anything—acting, writing, directing, producing, any of that stuff,” Krasinski says on the podcast, per Mashable. “And there it was, right in front of me.
