Houston Rockets: Ex-teammates Ex-Rockets Chris Paul, James ... (Houston Chronicle)

Three years after their last run together in Houston, James Harden and Chris Paul couldn't be at more different career junctures during the NBA playoffs.

He shot 11-of-28 from the floor and 3-of-12 on 3-pointers, totaling just 36 points in Philadelphia's initial two defeats to the Heat without an injured Joel Embiid. For Paul and especially for Harden, who is currently a shell of his best Rockets self and has obviously lost a step (or two) in the past couple years. Not to mention that he forced his way off of Kevin Durant’s Brooklyn Nets, after insisting that he was too good for the Rockets, who once gave him everything he wanted.

NBA rumors: Will James Harden take less money to help Sixers in ... (NBC Sports)

But overall it's not exactly been a banner playoff run so far for the Sixers' key trade deadline acquisition, the guy who we all hoped had an extra gear for the ...

This is his last opportunity to cash in on big-time NBA money, and the guy has a post-career life to think about. I just wonder how low Harden will be willing to go, money-wise, if he's being sold the *possibility* of the Sixers adding another big-name, big-money guy vs. They'd be the favorites out of the East. Obviously the operative word here is "less", and the key is just how much less. The guy turns 33 this summer, is clearly in decline, and has been dealing with a nagging hamstring problem across two seasons. He's shooting 34.8% from deep, a respectable number, on nearly six attempts per game and his assist numbers could be higher if his teammates hit their shots.

Stephen A. Smith Hits James Harden With A Harsh Reality (HotNewHipHop)

With James Harden struggling to produce, Stephen A. Smith decided to hit the star with a dose of reality. James Harden was not very good with the Brooklyn ...

Needless to say, it is a bad time to be Harden right now, and it is an even worse time to be a Sixers fan. Harden used to be one of the most prolific scorers in the entire NBA, but over the course of the last couple of seasons, he has been anything but that, to the detriment of his teams.\r\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\r\nThe Sixers are a team that need to get out of the second round of the postseason and it doesn't seem like that is going to be possible right now. Fans thought he was going to be a lot better than he was, however, it kind of became clear that Harden wanted to play with another team entirely.

So the James Harden-Ben Simmons trade looks like a dud (Deadspin)

Upon hearing the news of any trade, the first reaction is to think about which team won the trade initially. In the NBA court of public opinion, ...

We’ve seen Harden’s best days, and they seem to be clearly in the rearview. If Harden can’t give the Sixers a couple of 30-point performances in a playoff series, then it’s time to demand a refund. That’s why Philly traded for Harden. He’s supposed to be the second star and the emergency life raft just in case Embiid goes down. The James Harden that Morey once knew must have stayed behind in Houston. Or maybe he took a detour on the way to Brooklyn and got held up at Magic City with a plate of ‘Louwill Lemon Pepper’ wings. Currently, Harden’s contributing to a 2-0 series deficit against the Miami Heat, but he is out there lumbering up and down the court. In the NBA court of public opinion, that distinction usually goes to the side that obtains the more prominent name or superstar player.

3 reasons the James Harden-Ben Simmons trade is turning into a ... (ClutchPoints)

The blockbuster trade involving James Harden and Ben Simmons is becoming a lose-lose scenario for the Nets and Sixers.

The Sixers will have to sign Harden to a massive contract this offseason even after seeing him slow down significantly. Through all the fantastic defense and playmaking is his inability to score from outside the paint and struggles in the postseason. While the Nets struggled to climb in the Eastern Conference playoff picture, Simmons sat out. The Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets came into the trade deadline as the most interesting teams to watch. After Simmons got his wish and received a trade, he stayed sidelined with a back issue. Harden has, to be fair, increased his playmaking with the Sixers. This hasn’t worked, though.

The 76ers Should Let James Harden Walk This Off-Season (OutKick)

Ever since the 76ers dealt Ben Simmons and that whole slew of players for James Harden, the entire organization has known this was a win-now move. God.

He’s not scoring and that’s essentially the only thing he was good at when he won MVP as a member of the Rockets. That’s no knock on who the MVP was either because scoring is the hardest thing to do in basketball. James Harden, one of the most prolific scorers this game has ever seen in the history of the NBA has not even attempted 20 shots since he’s arrived in Philly. He can’t get open…he can’t create separation and that is why he has not attempted 20 shots. First of all, James Harden is slower even to the naked eye for anyone that’s watched the beard play basketball the past decade. Joel Embiid is now nursing a concussion and a facial fracture that’ll hold the big man out until at least game 3 against the Heat, and Harden is a shell of himself. He wanted out of Houston and he was determines to get out of Houston so when they initially told him ‘no’ he came in out of shape, overweight, and obviously had to work himself into shape once he got traded to Brooklyn,” Smith said. Ever since the 76ers dealt Ben Simmons and that whole slew of players for James Harden, the entire organization has known this was a win-now move.

Many have said that James Harden is "done" so perhaps he can prove the haters wrong next season. It is possible that the Philadephia 76ers won't have to make that decision this upcoming free agency. Of course, things could change between now and free agency for James Harden and there is a chance that he could leave in free agency to better pastures.

Keep betting James Harden UNDERS based on this key trend (Yardbarker)

The Philadelphia 76ers are in trouble in the Eastern Conference semifinals, and the play of guard James Harden is a big reason why the Sixers are down 0-2 ...

It’s incredibly soon to declare a final of assessment of Ramirez’s new contract, but the early returns for his club (as well as those who pursued him) are promising. He previously worked for the Carolina Panthers. Spytek is the Buccaneers vice president of player personnel and previously worked for the Cleveland Browns and Denver Broncos. New Orleans Pelicans guard Jose Alvarado, or "Grand Theft" for the friends, enjoyed a breakout 2021-22 season, but he is not about to stop there. Mayfield endured nine sacks in the Jan. 3 "Monday Night Football" loss at the rival Pittsburgh Steelers and later openly questioned why head coach Kevin Stefanski would not give rookie tackle James Hudson "a whole lot of help" against Pittsburgh star pass-rusher and eventual NFL Defensive Player of the Year T.J. Watt. "According to multiple sources, those close to Mayfield — who to that point had missed one game because of his shoulder injury — wondered at the time if the Browns were trying to make Mayfield look as hapless as possible in prime time, to potentially pave the way for the franchise to more easily explain why it might be moving on from him in the offseason," Trotter reports. For a piece published Thursday, ESPN's Jake Trotter detailed much of what went wrong for Mayfield and the Browns during this past campaign and also added an interesting note about what is destined to become the quarterback's final in-game appearance with the team that drafted him first overall in 2018. Even if Watson receives a suspension related to the 22 civil lawsuits regarding allegations of sexual misconduct that hover over his status, the Browns signed journeyman Jacoby Brissett and would have him serve as their temporary starter this fall. Cowden has been with the Titans since 2016 and currently serves as their vice president of player personnel. That was neither the first nor last time a story has suggested some within the Niners question if Lance can routinely win at the highest level beginning in September. On Thursday, NFL insider Matt Lombardo tweeted that Lance hasn't yet proven himself to be all that better than Garoppolo, if at all, in the eyes of those who matter. The Browns have since acquired star signal-caller Deshaun Watson and are looking to trade Mayfield to any team willing to accept the $18.858 million of fully guaranteed salary for 2022 attached to the 27-year-old's contract. One didn't need to be a doctor to realize that Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield visibly played with multiple injuries throughout the 2021 NFL season. After playing 24 minutes in Game 1, Adams saw less than seven minutes of action the rest of the series prior to entering the COVID-19 protocols. After leading the league in offensive and total rebounds, the Grizzlies have been outdueled in both of those categories in the first two games of their second-round matchup with the Warriors. Adams’ possible return for Saturday’s Game 3 would provide a major boost, as he led the NBA in offensive rebounds and offensive rebounding percentage this season and was the team’s top rebounder overall.
