Like every galaxy, Star Wars continues to expand. Here are a few games to try out, like "Republic Commando," "Jedi: Fallen Order" and "Knights of the Old ...
It’s been almost two decades since “Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic” first released, and the game is still one of the brightest in the Star Wars universe. “Fallen Order” is out on PlayStation, Xbox and PC but the price varies platform to platform. “The Skywalker Saga” is the best iteration of the Lego video game franchise to date. In any of the four series entries, your objective is to clear, conquer and defend certain command points on battlegrounds across the Star Wars universe. This franchise is the Call of Duty of Star Wars — and that’s not intended to be an insult. “Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga” is one of the more expensive games on this list at $59.99 on most consoles. “Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga” is the abridged — and often hilarious — version of the franchise’s nine episodes. The original “Battlefront” released in 2004, and the first-person shooter’s acclaimed sequel came out just a year later, providing fans a one-two punch through the key battles of the first two cinematic trilogies. First released in 2005, the original “Lego Star Wars: The Video Game” started it all. Released in 2005, “Republic Commando” is the earliest example in the Star Wars universe of clones as people, not just foot soldiers. The game operates like “SOCOM” and similar titles from the same era, before we all had the ability to just play with friends online. “Republic Commando” isn’t a perfect game, but it’s fun to revisit a turning point in the Star Wars franchise — when the bucket heads fighting for the Republic (and the Empire) became characters in their own right.

Ralph McQuarrie, an Oscar-winning artist who dreamed up the look of 'Star Wars' characters and locations, was born in Gary, Indiana in 1929.
His concept art for the franchise, now available as a hardcover book, included early versions of Vader, Luke Skywalker, Boba Fett, C-3PO, Cloud City, Hoth and various space craft used in the film. "When words could not convey my ideas, I could always point to one of Ralph’s fabulous illustrations and say, 'Do it like this.'" Some of the most iconic images in science fiction and popular culture — spaceships from "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" and "E.T.," the menacing Darth Vader of "Star Wars" fame and many more — were born in a Hoosier's brain.
It's Star Wars Day! Whether you're all about the nine-film Skywalker Saga or just adore Baby Yoda, here are six ways to celebrate May the 4th.
Lots of places discount their Star Wars merch on May 4, and StarWars.com has a roundup of all the coolest stuff, from Han and Leia "I love you/I know" wedding bands to Baby Yoda dashboard wavers. And next week, Obi-Wan and Anakin fans will want to check out the new novel "Star Wars: Brotherhood" set just after the "Attack of the Clones" prequel film. StarWarsKids.com is a one-stop resource for children to find out about all the characters and creatures fans love. The flagship "Star Wars" comic is currently filling in the time between "Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi" as Luke comes to grips with Darth Vader being his dad. “Star Wars: The Bad Batch” follows the elite and experimental clones of the Bad Batch spinning out of the prequel-era "Star Wars: The Clone Wars," which features Obi-Wan and Anakin before they turned into mortal enemies. If the newest "Star Wars" trilogy hasn't been exciting enough, the rash of recent comic books and novels – most of them pretty rad – have fleshed out stories not seen in the movies.
We take a deep dive into the galaxy far, far away to rank all of the Star Wars live-action movies to figure out which film is the best of all-time!
By adding dimensionality to its boy hero, who now in the middle chapter of a larger saga is forced to reconsider his vainglorious ideals, and depth to his conflict with a villain who no longer seems so simple in one of the greatest movie twists of all-time, Empire Strikes Back creates an interiority for its archetypes, as well as stakes that are a little more primal and tangible than “save the galaxy.” Nerd culture just wouldn’t be the same without the story of a young Luke Skywalker learning the ways of the Force and taking on the evil Empire with all of his friends. Not only does this tale of underdogs fighting oppression feel universal and poignant to this day, but A New Hope is also visually stunning, an absolute trailblazer in terms of what could be done with practical effects in the late ’70s. In fact, watching this movie in 2022 still feels like a timeless experience. However, the heart and strength of Luke’s story still shine bright in Return of the Jedi. It’s a movie that seems to say something different at any age at which you watch it, depending on where you are in your own life journey compared to Luke’s burdened self-discovery. With a great ensemble cast of characters, Rogue One has an adult edge most Star Wars movies lack, and a stark visceral scale in which the power of the Empire never seemed more looming. It’s a genuine war movie about sacrifice and embracing an ideal, and unlike most other Disney Star Wars movies, the fan service (here involving a particular Dark Lord of the Sith) is literally killer. Clocking in at nearly a full 10 minutes of acrobatic somersaults, lightsaber slashes, and pure unbridled fury, the duel is one of the few moments in the Prequels that rises to the occasion of John Williams’ awe-inspiring score. The participation of Jango Fett in the clone saga connects bounty hunter Boba Fett and the Mandalorians to the rest of the Star Wars universe, integral parts of the Disney+ series The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. Add in the innovative use of digital effects, especially with Yoda, and it becomes clear that Attack of the Clones plays a pivotal role in the past and future of the franchise. Making Han and Leia’s child the antagonist was a clever reversal of the Original Trilogy’s big twist, and helped elevate The Force Awakens into one of the most talked-about movies of its time. The rest of Revenge of the Sith is very much the same mixed bag as its predecessors, but from the moment Darth Sidious mutters “execute order 66” on, the film presents some of the most exciting action in the entire Star Wars saga. Though the films are technically impressive and their depiction of a slowly eroding republic has aged quite nicely, The Phantom Menace and Attack of Clones really did amount to a lot of time-killing before getting to the main event that Star Wars fans had waited decades to see: Kenobi vs. It’s all a matter of what you want from the galaxy far, far away, and J.J. Abrams’ final love letter to George Lucas’ Original Trilogy of space fantasy films is exactly what some fans wanted after Rian Johnson tried to set the franchise on a new course with The Last Jedi.

As seen in the new trailer, the hunt is on for the Jedi — and Obi-Wan in particular. The official trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi has arrived in celebration of May the 4th, and it’s filled with new imagery and details from the upcoming limited series. Stormtroopers stalk the streets, and the Empire’s Jedi-hunting Inquisitors lead the charge. Obi-Wan Kenobi, starting May 27 on Disney+, follows Ewan McGregor’s legendary Jedi Master 10 years after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. The Empire reigns and the few surviving Jedi are in hiding, with Kenobi living in secret on Tatooine and watching over Luke Skywalker from afar. These are the dark times, indeed. While Obi-Wan delivered a newborn Luke Skywalker to Owen Lars, the Tatooine moisture farmer — and stepbrother of Anakin Skywalker — seems to want nothing more to do with Kenobi. It’s a sentiment that draws a straight line to his concerns in Star Wars: A New Hope.

To celebrate Star Wars Day, some current StarWars.com writers reflect on their favorite moments as Star Wars fans.
Several years later, I attended my first red carpet event: the Solo: A Star Wars Story world-premiere in Hollywood, California. And that C-3PO action figure was there with me, safely tucked into my coat pocket, to commemorate my first step into that larger world. After so many missed opportunities, I finally got to see Star Wars for the first time, under the stars, at a drive-in movie theater: the Twin-Do drive-in in Metairie, Louisiana. While that specific theater is no longer in existence, the memory has lasted a lifetime and has spring-boarded my love for this mythology into countless moments and experiences. I fought the temptation to blurt out anything about Star Wars and totally derail the table-wide conversation (for a behind-the-scenes Star Wars nerd like me, this was next to impossible). At the end of the dinner, Gary walked over to me. He was a gentleman, and a member of that small and elite unit who helped make Star Wars what it was and what it is today. In my teenage years I was the proud owner of a portable CD player, and there was only one thing I wanted to listen to with it. Whether I was on a school bus in the dark morning hours or curled up under a blanket, I took my CD player and Star Wars along as my personal soundtrack. When I wanted to “watch” Star Wars, I loaded up the first disc, closed my eyes, and replayed the movie in my imagination. Through a message board for Star Wars literature fans, I made friends with some Czech fans, helping them with some translations, and got to meet a few of them in person when I visited Prague in 2004. And that was the start of my lifelong love of Star Wars. – Dustin Diehl One of my earliest memories is going to see a re-release of Return of the Jedi in Manhattan with them in 1985, taking all my action figures and lining them up on one seat, and then watching the movie perched from my dad’s lap. That first movie theater experience was the spark that lit my passion for the Star Wars universe. On Star Wars Day, there are countless ways to celebrate the Star Wars fan community and the the saga that unites us.

Deals, offers, nostalgia and now, new footage of the forthcoming show as "Star Wars" fans celebrate May the 4th.
And while this second trailer for the new Disney Plus series doesn't have quite the impact, it's still has us more excited about this than any other incoming sci-fi, with the single exception of Season 3 of "For All Mankind." And, of course, those other upcoming Star Wars TV shows in the works. Ewan McGregor will reprise his role of the crazy old space wizard, with Hayden Christensen returning to fill the foreboding life-support suit of Emperor Palpatine's servant Darth Vader. There was yet another tremor in the Force this week as the second trailer for the latest live-action "Star Wars" spin-off show "Obi-Wan Kenobi" dropped on what has become known for marketing reasons as "Star Wars Day" or May the 4th.
Anthony covers Star Wars related gaming updates to Fortnite, the rumored Jedi Fallen Order sequel, and future projects yet to be titled.
Many other exciting projects are on the way like the ones Amy Hennig’s Skydance New Media and Ubisoft recently announced (both untitled). In addition, there is a remake of Knights of the Old Republic which could make a 2022 release. If the Force is with us, maybe even a first glance at some gameplay or a very short teaser. Obi-Wan Kenobi drops on Disney+ on May 27th, and it’s time to feel the might of both the Dark and Light sides. In brilliant timing for marketing, Fortnite has brought back many skins (listed) for Star Wars Celebration (May 26-29). They’ve seen an increase in player base with the inclusion of the “no-build mode” of the popular battle royale shooter. The teaser clip highlights his famous blue saber and has a slight zoom-out effect showing the wielder having the high ground. Previously, Din Djarin was an in-game boss and would drop a rifle and jet pack for your loadout.

The series will feature Moses Ingram as Reva, a former Jedi, now of the Empire’s Inquisitors, who seems determined to track down Obi-Wan, and seems to share a personal history with him. Lastly, it is believed that Tatooine is such a backwater planet, floating in the middle of nowhere, that Vader’s forces wouldn’t even bother to look there. Even Boba Fett’s greatest ambition was to rule the “backwater” planet.

Now that many venues have opened and public gatherings are becoming more frequent, the franchise’s sci-fi balm isn’t as necessary, but still just as vital, and Disney is leveraging its property in myriad ways. Similarly, when season two of Disney+’s The Mandalorian debuted during the height of the pandemic in 2020, the dose of Star Wars fantasy gave many grateful fans a respite from the lockdowns and news of new variants. “Lucasfilm cannot take credit for Star Wars Day. That belongs to the fans,” the company states on its site detailing the rise of the faux holiday.

With May 4th upon us, it was only fitting to find Georgia football players and coaches and match them to their Star Wars characters to celebrate the fandom.
It was wild seeing how easy it was to pair up the characters with the players. The comparisons came naturally from droids, main characters, side characters, and everything in between. In January, Georgia recently overcame their own evil emperor to save the galaxy and restore faith.
Star Wars: Obi-Wan #1 artist Ario Anindito reveals never-before-seen art, including concept sketches, page layouts, and more with his own insights.
His ‘lost years’ are always fascinating for many of us Star Wars fans, and I think his adventure in this book is one important piece of the puzzle that shaped him to become what he is.” And at the same time he’s also fragile, but he’s very determined to be brave and overcome his fragility. “In order to make her distinctive, I gave her long black hair and a pair of ‘devil horns,’ so that she looks evil, but in style. “In the second part is the ‘story from the journal,’ so I changed the style. She’s way more brave and mature than kid Obi, and that’s what I put in her expressions, and it set her apart from kid Obi. There is no doubt in her. How she’s sad, and holds onto the pendant dearly because it reminds her of those she longs for. “For the pendant, there was no specific description about it other than it’s made from rare and valuable Eadun silver. “I wanted to give a different treatment to those two parts, so I made the first part in pencil, not inked, and looking more rough. He collects stuff that he sees fit, and he brought all the stuff he needs for his adventure. To mark the Star Wars Day release of Obi-Wan #1, StarWars.com caught up with Anindito, who opened up his sketchbook and shared his early explorations and penciled pages for a look at the making of the issue, while providing commentary for his process. I imagine her as a combination of a female wolf and a serpent, lurking in the shadow and observing. The overall tone in the first pages is also very yellow and dusty, in contrast with the second part.”
The Lego Star Wars Darth Vader Helmet is the largest yet, and its captivating build will delight Sith Lords and Jedi Masters alike.
If you’d rather pick up something to occupy a youngling then the Lego Star Wars Millennium Falcon might be a more suitable alternative. The lack of playability and challenging construction make it a hard sell for children, but older builders will have a blast putting it together. If you can get past the toothy appearance, Darth Vader’s helmet is a fine ornament that will look excellent adorning a minimalist office or Sith temple. The more challenging build and lack of playability is why all Star Wars Helmets carry an 18+ rating and Darth Vader is no exception. We found ours crumpled at the bottom of the box and as a result the tip of one example doesn’t stick down properly. And, if you’re a low-key Sith fan looking for one of the best Lego Star Wars sets to adorn your desk, this could be the ornament you’re looking for… It’s hard to conceive a practical reason for Lego’s omission, especially when it detracts from the otherwise stellar representation. Vader’s jaw, lip at the base of the neck, and neck guard all make great use of U clips to achieve accurate angles. Lego has done a good job of spreading out the construction of the internal framework, which helps maintain interest as the exterior steadily progresses. A keen eye is required when searching for the right brick and if you’re not paying attention, it’s possible to plump for a similar-looking but wrong alternative. Such is the accuracy of the build and its clever construction, you might begin to wonder if Vader’s sorcerer’s ways had a hand in Lego’s creation. The eyes and internal structure beneath the dome come next, then the dome itself, and finally the neck guard.
Disney+ has released a video promoting the collection of Star Wars projects on the streaming platform to celebrate May the Fourth.
The Star Wars library seems big as is, but Disney+ is set to turn the franchise into a much larger world.
