"Obi-Wan Kenobi" is back -- but, based on the new trailer for the Disney+ series, the droll Jedi master no longer has the high ground.

Who will end up voicing a comical droid? How will Ingram and Friend's villains stack up against Vader? And who will get to say, "I have a bad feeling about this?" Released on -- when else?

The teaser also sees Ewan McGregor's Jedi Master attempting to train a young Luke Skywalker.

Elsewhere in the trailer, we see Moses Ingram‘s ( The Queen’s Gambit) character in pursuit of Obi-Wan, plus plenty of action sequences, including Storm Trooper shoot-outs and lightsaber fights. Also starring in the upcoming series is Bonnie Piesse (Revenge of the Sith), Kumail Nanjiani ( Silicon Valley), Indira Varma ( This Way Up), Rupert Friend ( Homeland), O’Shea Jackson Jr. ( Swagger), Sung Kang ( Power), Simone Kessell ( The Crossing), and Benny Safdie (Licorice Pizza). The series begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, where Obi-Wan faced his greatest defeat — the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker. The Empire is now in charge of the galaxy and on the hunt for all remaining Jedi, while Obi-Wan hides out on Tatooine.

There are surprising hidden messages in a wanted poster featured in the show's May the 4th teaser.

But this shows us that the Jedi’s foes do not want him killed by the rogues and scoundrels they are summoning to track him down. The Empire wants Kenobi returned. It simply has to be decoded from the Star Wars alphabet known as Aurebesh.

Darth Vader finally appears in the new "Obi-Wan Kenobi" trailer on Star Wars Day.

After being conspicuously absent from the previous trailer, Darth Vader is finally seen in the new teaser, albeit only his suit. The new look at the limited series, premiering later this month, has finally revealed Darth Vader, who is set for a showdown with his former mentor during the show. Reva sends bounty hunters and Stormtroopers after the Jedi, who dispatches them quite easily, sans lightsaber.

'Obi-Wan Kenobi' Feels Like the Last Hope for Star Wars Under Disney (CNET)

Within the tight confines of the Star Wars universe there's space in the Obi-Wan timeline for something different: new characters, new enemies, new planets. I'm an enemy of nostalgia-bait in almost all the media I consume, but I suspect it could be fun to return to the prequel aesthetic with a new set of collectively aging eyeballs. Obi-Wan Kenobi is a central character in the Star Wars universe, and he's played by one of Hollywood's biggest stars. Stumbling from one fan service cameo to the next like a decaying zombie in search of brains. Reason 2: We have a generation of Star Wars fans hankering for a different type of nostalgia. In the wake of Rise of Skywalker we've seen Star Wars do little but pander to an audience desperate to bask in nostalgia. We've devolved into a cursed collective that judges the quality of shows like The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett based on the quality of its cameos. It looked, felt and played like a movie written by a toxic Reddit thread gone sentient and it undid every bold decision made in The Last Jedi. It was the first nail in the coffin of my own Star Wars fandom, but it wouldn't be the last. In 2022 we have a group of thirtysomethings who grew up alongside the prequel trilogy. In perhaps the best Star Wars scene ever put on film, Yoda stands in front of a blazing fire he himself started. Rise of Skywalker, a cobbled-together spreadsheet of a movie, was the end result. Maybe the defining line in a series packed with them.

Obi-Wan Kenobi's new “May the 4th” trailer is here, and it looks intense (Polygon)

Obi-Wan Kenobi hits Disney Plus on May 27, and a new trailer for the show gives us a look at new and returning characters, including Darth Vader, Owen Lars, ...

Obi-Wan Kenobi is set 10 years after the events of Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith, and will feature Obi-Wan’s former friend and future killer, Anakin Skywalker, whom we see pieced together as Darth Vader in yet another tease of the Sith Lord. (Last time, all we got was Vader breathing!) Hayden Christensen returns to reprise the role. Lucasfilm’s new trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi offers a glimpse at some of the rest of the cast, including Kumail Nanjiani (who may also be a Jedi?) and Joel Edgerton as Owen Lars, who seems none too happy to see Kenobi show up and want to train a very young Luke Skywalker. Also, is that 4-LOM? Hey, buddy! A new trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi, ol’ Ben’s stand-alone six-episode series coming to Disney Plus on May 27, doesn’t reveal too much more about the story of the in-hiding Jedi Master — but it does offer a glimpse at the intensity of the Empire’s hunt for one of the last remaining practitioners of the Force. Or is there another?

This fight is about the future of the galaxy itself. This fight is not about a broken man who has seemingly found himself surviving against a Dark Lord of the Sith. This is not about giving us a rematch to appease a crowd, not in terms of the story on its own terms anyhow. As seen in the new trailer, the hunt is on for the Jedi — and Obi-Wan in particular. The official trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi has arrived in celebration of May the 4th, and it’s filled with new imagery and details from the upcoming limited series. Stormtroopers stalk the streets, and the Empire’s Jedi-hunting Inquisitors lead the charge. Obi-Wan Kenobi, starting May 27 on Disney+, follows Ewan McGregor’s legendary Jedi Master 10 years after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. The Empire reigns and the few surviving Jedi are in hiding, with Kenobi living in secret on Tatooine and watching over Luke Skywalker from afar. These are the dark times, indeed. While Obi-Wan delivered a newborn Luke Skywalker to Owen Lars, the Tatooine moisture farmer — and stepbrother of Anakin Skywalker — seems to want nothing more to do with Kenobi. It’s a sentiment that draws a straight line to his concerns in Star Wars: A New Hope.

May the Fourth kicks off with a new Obi-Wan Kenobi trailer (The A.V. Club)

The clip features Hayden Christensen's Darth Vader being assembled, and some sick Jedi moves by Old Man Ben.

Cue the heavy breathing and a remix of his theme song as we get a hint of an Obi-Wan and Darth Vader reunion that is sure to be—ahem—volcanic. We also get more of the Inquisitors—specifically Moses Ingram’s Reva— assembling to catch Obi-Wan and other Jedi who went into hiding after Order 66 (AKA the order to execute all Jedi) was enacted. With a bit more salt-and-pepper in his beard, Obi-Wan has been keeping watch over a young Luke Skywalker on Tatooine. Yet, the danger of the Galactic Empire’s Jedi hunters, the Inquisitors, causes Obi-Wan to go on the run throughout the galaxy.

Deals, offers, nostalgia and now, new footage of the forthcoming show as "Star Wars" fans celebrate May the 4th.

And while this second trailer for the new Disney Plus series doesn't have quite the impact, it's still has us more excited about this than any other incoming sci-fi, with the single exception of Season 3 of "For All Mankind." And, of course, those other upcoming Star Wars TV shows in the works. Ewan McGregor will reprise his role of the crazy old space wizard, with Hayden Christensen returning to fill the foreboding life-support suit of Emperor Palpatine's servant Darth Vader. There was yet another tremor in the Force this week as the second trailer for the latest live-action "Star Wars" spin-off show "Obi-Wan Kenobi" dropped on what has become known for marketing reasons as "Star Wars Day" or May the 4th.

Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi Trailer Breakdown: Darth Vader, 4-LOM ... (Den of Geek)

Obi-Wan Kenobi faces off against the Darth Vader, Inquisitors, bounty hunters, and stormtroopers in the latest trailer for the upcoming Star Wars series!

And here’s a shot of the Fifth Brother from the back. We get a first look at two new droids featured in the series. Above you can see some kind of battle droid shooting at stormtroopers in a cave. We even get a look at the actual bounty, and it’s nice to see Revenge of the Sith Obi-Wan again. Rupert Friend’s Grand Inquisitor was the subject of much debate when the first teaser dropped a few weeks back. Reva replies, “Maybe you’ve been looking in the wrong places,” at which point the trailer cuts to the shot above. He was first introduced in The Empire Strikes Back as one of the mercenaries hired by Darth Vader to hunt down Han Solo and the Millennium Falcon. Opening fire on the Inquisitors on their home turf seems like a really bad idea… Obi-Wan Kenobi will introduce a new kind of stormtrooper to live-action. In the first teaser, we saw Obi-Wan getting shot at from both sides during this gunfight. While the first teaser only featured the ominous sound of Vader’s breathing, this new trailer finally shows us the iconic villain in the flesh…or what’s left of it, anyway. Before we unpack all the teases and easter eggs, have a watch if you haven’t already:

Darth Vader killed his only chance to learn of his secret son and Reva for all her evil deeds, died a little less than a villain. She has completed the mission the inquisitors have been in pursuit of for a decade. What follows is the information I was able to garner from interviews with cast and crew of Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi over the last year but primarily during principal photography. Kenobi is no more. The pieces seem to connect really well and I’m confident in the broad strokes. 'Obi-Wan Kenobi' Trailer: May the Fourth Tease Hints at Darth ... (CNET)

Happy Star Wars Day. The exiled Jedi's journey to face his fallen apprentice kicks off on Disney Plus from May 27.

The previous trailer suggested Obi-Wan will be trying to keep Anakin's young son, Luke, hidden from Inquisitors, a group of lightsaber-wielding Jedi hunters previously seen in animated series Star Wars: Rebels and video game Jedi: Fallen Order. That happens to be the second day of Star Wars convention Celebration Anaheim, which runs May 26-29, so we might get more Obi-Wan announcements then. So it's a pretty miserable time for Obi-Wan.

'Obi-Wan Kenobi' trailer reveals a whole new side of Vader (Inverse)

The new trailer reveals an entirely new look for the iconic villain, and a glimpse of what his role will really be.

Does that mean we’ll see a narrative split between the two, or just a few menacing cutaways to Anakin like the villain scenes we see in The Mandalorian? In a roundabout way, this answers the question of how Christensen would play Vader despite not providing his voice in the original trilogy: We’ll see him out of the suit. The only glimpse of Vader in the trailer is a shot of what appears to be Christensen putting on his suit.
